Brought my Ford F150 in because it sounded like I was dragging a chain when it was in 2H. After an $89 diagnosis, they said I needed a new transfer case which would cost over $2,300. In shock, I asked Aaron if they could be wrong about the diagnosis and he said that he is 100% positive that they are correct and went on to explain why. I decided to call the place I bought it and they told me on the phone that based on the symptoms, they think that Certified is most likely wrong and if I bring it by, they would diagnosit it at no charge. A few hours later they called me and said it in fact wasn't the transfer case and the problem was something to do with the front right hub assembly and fixed it for $223. Wow! I almost needlessly spent over $2,300! Thank GOD I got a second opinion. Moral of the story is you better get a second opinion! read more

Oil spots were appearing on my driveway so I crawled under my Chevy Suburban to check it out. The underside of the transmission case was wet with oil. I checked the internet for local transmission repair shops and settled on Certified in spite of their $99 fee for an inspection! After waiting about an hour I was invited inside the shop area to view the underside of the vehicle. They pointed out that the front transmission seal is leaking. This would cost $1400 to repair. I decided to get a second opinion. Long story short, a second transmission shop identified my leak as a loose oil filter. They tightened the filter, cleaned up the oil, and took it for a test drive. Viola! No leak and no charge for their service. Just saved $1400. No thanks to Certified Transmission at 75 St and I-35 in Merriam Kansas. read more

Up front, I have to say I didn't have work done at this shop. But I DID receive excellent customer service! My 15-year-old Honda was having transmission problems, and I called to ask if Certified Transmission could work on it. I spoke with Todd, who was extremely courteous and helpful. He took all the information on my car, down to the VIN, and contacted CT's headquarters to find out if they had the parts and tools for the job. A few hours later, he called me back and explained what he'd found out: the particular model of my car hadn't been made for very long, and so there is limited parts availability outside of dealerships and Honda itself. He said he'd be happy to work on my car, but in order to purchase parts he'd have to go through the dealership, which would increase the price for me. I thought that was very honest and forthright, to let me know that beforehand, so that I could make the most informed decision possible. Parting with $3000 for a new transmission is difficult. That's why it's so great when you find someone professional and friendly and you almost feel good about giving them your money LOL my huge van transports a lot of children every day and I needed someone I could trust to switch out our transmission. These guys prove that you can be professional and friendly at the same time. We live half an hour away from the shop and they still loaned my husband a vehicle for two days. They followed up with a phone call to make sure everything was running smoothly and they even sent a note in the mail reminding us about our 15 day follow up. Friendly staff, but I would absolutely not bring your vehicle here if you're in any kind of time crunch (or even expect it to be completed in the quoted time). I was told that my vehicle repair would take two days. My repairs are taking 5-6 days longer to complete than expected and I'm still without my car. Again, I would not recommend bringing your vehicle here unless you okay with long delays turning into even longer delays. read more

They were recommended by my mechanic after I had already talked to the Honda dealership and read many reviews online. Phillip at Certified Transmission was very nice and explained everything in detail. After reading a few horror stories online about tow companies, I appreciated that Phillip made all of the arrangements for the tow and just added it to the bill. I can't say enough great things about this shop and it's manager. After a dealer told us that our Dodge needed a new transmission and wasn't safe to drive, which would run us nearly 4 grand. Based on this, we decided to shop around and get a second opinion. Based on reviews and speaking with their staff on the phone, we decided to go with Certified Transmission. They got the car in right away and determined after hours of diagnostics that while the transmission fluid needed to be changed, the transmission was actually in great shape and the car was safe to drive, also advising us of a couple other non-transmission related issues that were likely behind the symptoms we were experiencing. A little over $200 later, our car runs great. Their honest staff that took the time to explain their process and obviously care about their customers. My Honda CRV had been making awful grinding sounds when accelerating; they could have sold me a transmission but told me that the transmission was fine and that all I needed were new mounts for the engine and transmission. They also identified a problem that I had been having for a long time, something they couldn't repair, and provided me a service bulletin that Honda had issued back in 2010 that I did not know about for the exact problem that I was having. I'm the owner of Five Star Moving LLC, Kansas City. After using their services we'll never go to another transmission repair center ever again! They're ethical and do very, very good work! Anthony and Andrew were our contact people and they were helpful beyond measure! A couple years back we brought our work truck, an extended size Dodge van in for emergency repair service on the transmission and they had it in and out in less than 3 days! We've never had a problem since! Last year our extended size Ford van needed transmission repair. This time instead of going back to the proven team, I decided to see if I could save a little money. What a colossal mistake that was! Being suckered into believing that the other nation-wide chain located a mile an half northwest of Certified did better work and cheaper, our work van that we make money with and is an integral part of our business, was STILL not repaired TWO AND A HALF MONTHS LATER!!! Costing us massive amounts of money in the meantime!!! Frustrated beyond belief, I brought it to Certified to get our work truck FINALLY repaired!! Again, in less than 3 days they had it running perfectly and not a problem since! And they even fixed the idle control that the other "total care" crew missed or didn't care to address! I made the mistake of trying to "save" a little money, but in the end I learned that if you want quality work, those few extra dollars you're spending on the team with the proven track record WILL save you countless amounts of your hard earned money in the long run!
