I appreciated the time she took to hear ALL of my concerns -- I never felt rushed and I always felt respected by her. This is in contrast to other alterations places I had called (they all tried to rush me and make me commit to things I didn't feel comfortable with). In the end, she turned a strapless dress into a beautiful, long-sleeve dress that people kept commenting on as we did our wedding photoshoot. I had no idea that it was possible to do as much as she did through alterations. For example, I had bought the wrong colored bolero -- my dress was a bright white, but the bolero was an ivory color. She worked MAGIC to fix it, as you can tell from the pictures. She hand-made another bolero for me and made it seem like the bolero was always part of the dress. I was SO pleased with all her hard work. Another important and great part of doing business with Atecia is that she works very quickly -- she knows exactly what to do, and her turnaround rate is very quick. It was a busy wedding season in August but she was always so calm and patient, even when I had last-minute requests. I had to do some one-week-before-the-wedding alterations and she was very accommodating. She finished the work within two days and I was seriously wow-ed. During a busy wedding season and moving, among other things pulling their attention, they did not show any signs of stress or rush. No they weren't. Saturday I called in at 11 am and they still hadn't arrived yet. Called again after 1pm and they indicated the pants were there. I arrived there at 4 pm to pick them up, but they were closed. That was my bad, should have checked theirs operating hours. Long story short, I didn't have them for the weekend and that bummed me out. Again, the hem job was perfect. The guy at the counter was nice, although I wish he would have offered me some assistance with measuring the hem job I needed. I am clueless about these kind of things. Perhaps he was too about alterations. He had a tough enough job finding clothes in racks that aren't automated. He must have a system but that looked like hard work to me.

They have many styles and were so accommodating, pulling styles for me and showing things that I may like but have not considered. I ended up with a dress that was pulled out last! Also, I went in thinking I would buy a dress I previously tried on at a separate place and they were able to order it for me if I ended up deciding that I wanted that style from Allure. They are able to order dresses and are very honest with the time it takes to make and get delivered. Another thing to note is that they were not predatory at all which was so refreshing. I had a couple of experiences where I felt pressured to make a decision on the spot and then received many texts after asking me to make a choice which Ira did none of. Overall, a great experience and I was also sent home with an unexpected bottle of Prosecco to celebrate which was the cherry on top!

So I did some research for a local tailor and decided to give Vihan a try based on the reviews. What I found was an institution of over 50 years in North Jersey. Vihan Custom Tailors was exactly what I was searching for in a custom shop. First and foremost, Joe was super welcoming and gregarious. I explained I needed a tux for an upcoming wedding and outlined my timing. He was helpful and very accommodating. If I had a dollar for every time Joe said "no problem" to any of my requests, it would have paid for the tux! Just by looking at me, he brought me to the rack with my size to get a good fit. The quality of the jackets was immediately noticeable. All of the blazers were stylish. The process was quick and painless. Next, Joe showed me around the store so I could see the rest of their dapper inventory. We added a shirt and a couple accessories and I was on my way. When my tux came in, I met Vihan, the founder and tailor of the shop. During the fitting, I watched a master in action. My body is on the stockier side so I'm always concerned about the fit of suits. Vihan assured me it wouldn't be an issue. After the fitting, I asked Joe if one of the blazers I liked the previous visit could be ready with my tuxedo on short notice for the rehearsal dinner. As usual, Joe's answer was "no problem!" When the tuxedo and blazer came in I couldn't be happier. I love the quality of the tux. It immediately stood out for the premium material and intricate stitching. Vihan & his team did a fantastic job with the alterations, including to my shirt. The tuxedo was form-fitting and not boxy. I was ecstatic with the fit. During the wedding festivities, I was extremely excited about how well the blazer and the tuxedo looked and felt. Both outfits stood out; especially the tux in a sea of tuxes. Needless to stay I will be going to Vihan for all of my menswear and tailoring needs in the future. Loved getting to know the Joe, Vihan & the team. You'll always be in good hands with them. In the age of department stores, a family-owned, local bespoke tailor is quite the find. What I like most is that they don't rush you through the process. You go through the racks or assistance is available and they'll pull out styles you request. The dressing rooms are very large and private for you and your party. Norma the head seamstress/owner will help you get into your dress and state any alterations the dress might need to fit your particular body type. It has that rustic, utilitarian air to it that just kind of invites you inside. You can tell right upon entering that this is a place that caters to its customers and is filled with insightful tailors. I'm pretty picky about who touches my clothes, but I felt very reassured in the hands of Gus. I had brought in a pair of wide fitting trousers that needed an alteration. I wanted them to be restructured from below the thigh, to taper quite significantly. Now, this job isn't necessarily difficult, but it can be time-consuming. I had a pretty clear idea of what I wanted done to my trousers; I even brought in a reference pair. Gus was pretty straight forward with the pricing, and detailing what the job/execution would be like. The trousers needed to be taken in from both sides of each pair of seams per leg. He assured me that it would be done with the utmost quality and said there would be about a 7 day max turnaround time, which seemed fairly reasonable to me. I happily left the store and within 2 or 3 days had heard back from Gus who informed me that the job had been completed. To my surprise (at such incredible turnaround speed), I stopped by the storefront that same afternoon to retrieve my trousers. I was very happy as he showed me the work in detail, even the excess fabric that he had removed during the job. Upon returning home I was nearly speechless as I tried them on. The seams were beautifully resewed and the structure and flow of the trousers had not been lost during this delicate restructuring. The overall fit and result was exactly what I had wanted. I am very impressed and now I know that I will be a continuous customer. Every person needs a tailor, but they need one that must be detail oriented, honest, efficient, and worth the cost. Heights + Kenchi is worth the visit and their results speak for themselves.

Currently, he has again disappeared, two years after I paid him $10,000 up-front for a suit and a blazer he hasn't even started working on. He overpromises, under-delivers, *constantly breaks promises and blows through deadlines. Poor communication. Now, this has crossed the line into clear-cut fraudulent, borderline criminal activity. I would steer clear of his services until he grows a spine and gets his life together. He's a talented but deeply flawed man who has lied to me for the last time.
