Seafood paradise here with some interesting selections! We tried barnacles for the first time, which tasted salty like the sea and a bit chewy. Didn't really do it for me, but the SO liked them. Everything we had was fresh and good: I loved the shrimp in garlic and clams in garlic so much we ordered the razor clams after. The tiger prawns and scallops were delicious too. You must keep the bread to sop up all the yummy sauces. Simply prepared to let the star ingredients, the seafood, shine! I wish they would devein the shrimp though. The restaurant was packed! Reservations are an absolute must and available 3 months in advance with a €50 deposit.
If seafood is your love language, Cervejaria Ramiro is the Lisbon institution that lives up to every bit of its legendary status. We started with oysters, pristine and briny, served ice-cold and clean--no frills, just absolute freshness. From there, the clams in garlic and olive oil arrived bubbling and aromatic, the kind of dish you have to mop up with bread until the bowl is spotless. The showstopper? The giant tiger prawns, presented simply and perfectly cooked--sweet, meaty, and impossibly tender. And then came the crab, cracked open tableside, paired with Ramiro's famously rich, indulgent crab mixture (yes, the one everyone talks about). It's decadent, savory, and completely unapologetic. The vibe is classic Lisbon--buzzy, efficient, no-nonsense--yet the quality of the seafood feels luxe in the best way. Service is fast, knowledgeable, and keeps the parade of shellfish flowing seamlessly. Important tip: while walk-ins are possible, it's much better to have a reservation unless you're happy waiting--this place is packed for a reason. Come hungry, order generously. Cervejaria Ramiro isn't just a meal--it's a Lisbon rite of passage.
We went for dinner on New Year's Eve so probably not your normal everyday experience. It was pre-booked/ paid yet there was still a line to enter. The line took ~10 minutes. We were sat upstairs even though we requested to sit downstairs. Food delivers to the table very quickly so don't worry if you aren't sure how much food to order. You can always order more and it will still arrive quickly. The food was about 50/50 good. Razor clams and giant prawns delicious. Giant prawns could have used a little more char. The clams bulhao was extremely sandy - not great. We also tried the (supposed) spicy prawns. The prawn quality was fine but there was zero spice. Wine can be ordered by the glass bottle or half bottle which was a nice option. Our server was nice and efficient. Overall the seafood was hit or miss that day.
A Lisbon right of passage. Friendly service. Authentic cooking. Go hungry and ready to explore their menu meaningfully. Recommend the steak sandwich and garlic shrimp as foundational components of your meal. Highly recommend.
All my friends said this was a must try restaurant in Lisbon, and after visiting, I have to agree. I was lucky that day since there was no wait for a table. After checking the menu, I noticed it's mostly seafood, so if you don't eat seafood or are vegetarian, I wouldn't recommend it. But otherwise, this place truly lives up to the hype. I love crab, and I had the best crab of my life here! The shrimp was my second favorite, and I saw many people ordering the clams and garlic shrimp as well. The service was excellent too! Yeah and the bread was so good! I reminded myself that when I checked in this place.
When in Lisbon, Ramiro is a must. This place was recommended to us by both tourists and locals alike. If possible, I'd recommend making a reservation here unless you don't mind a long wait. A local told me reservations aren't necessary and they'll always have a table for you - this is true but it may come with an 1.5 hour wait attached. This was true in our case. You take a number and wait either outside or in their lounge area. The lounge felt a bit hacky to me but it's a good option for drinking and relaxing while you wait. There's a pour-your-own-pint option which was like a vending machine but for beer - pretty cool. The bathroom in the lounge area was really dirty and needed to be serviced. The outside waiting area can get crowded but is a better atmosphere than the lounge. However, the cheesy lounge, dirty bathroom, and long wait were all forgotten once we sat down. I was pleased to see an even mix between tourists and Portuguese people in our section. As much hype as this place gets, it's not a tourist trap. This is some of the best seafood I've ever had at some of the most reasonable prices I've ever seen. We ordered spider crab, gambas, clams, prawns, and barnacles. I was in seafood heaven. Everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned simply but excellently. The seafood is so fresh it doesn't need much but the quality of butter, garlic, and olive oil shines through. Even the simple buttered bread they give you was delicious - using it to mop up the sauce from the clams and the delicious soup in the spider crab shell was just chef's kiss. We ended up paying only 120 euros for all the food (excluding drinks we had while we waited). For that amount of seafood and at that quality? That price is absurd! Service was friendly and struck the perfect balance between attentive and laidback. I loved that they even showed us the live spider crab before they cooked it - that's how you know everything is super fresh here! I would 1000% return to Ramiro in a heartbeat.
I made a reservation for one waaaaaaay before I got to Lisbon. I requested to be seated by the window when I made the reservation. I arrive at the restaurant at 7pm. Upon checking in, the host pointed me to the outdoor seating, which was perfect. But when I got to the entrance of the outdoor area, the guy was telling the host something in Portuguese and told me to go back cuz they have a table for me inside. They did have a table for me inside -- next to the restroom, tucked away in a little corner, furthest from a window, which is not what I requested for. cream cheese was soooooo good! Buttery smooth spread over the bread! Warning: it smells like feet! Oysters were nothing special. No extra toppings to put in it for extra flavor. Tasted like oysters. Garlic shrimp was soooooo amazing! I love how salty it was! I love garlic, so it was perfection for me. I could eat this all day everyday! It's also already peeled, so it saves you from getting your hands dirty. The lobster roll was also heavenly. The bread is sweet and soft. I would order this over and over and over again. I was concerned at how some might consider this a little expensive for the portion, but I totally understand why. OMG! The scallop is to die for! Another favorite of mine! I loved how simple it was with the oil and lemon. The smokiness of it made it better. Tasted and smelled Smokey, which I've never experienced with scallops before! YUMMMM! Songkor took great care of me. Attentive and he gave great suggestions! Glad it turned out that I had him as a server. Thank you!
Top tier food and at an amazing price. Great customer service and waiter suggestions. We made reservations maybe a week or two in advance, which i highly suggest- this restaurant was on a tv show and a few reputable list. The line grew for those without reservations outside. The suggested we share and just order family style, which Insecond because it's a way to try multiple items and honestly, i didn't understand the pricing - if it was by lb or plate. still don't know lol A MUST is the spicy shrimp, scarlet shrimp, the shrimp that came on the brass/copper bowl (first pick). While in portugal, it is a must (if you're open and adventurous) to try Barnacles. We tried a very small amount first - the waiter taught us how to eat them -- we enjoyed them and ordered a bit more! We also order the clams and king spikey crab (which we met before he time ended - never a fan of that - don't even like to see them swimming in the fish tank) In lisbon, you pay for the culvert and you are not typically asked if you want it- they just hand you bread and butter and other appetizers and it appears on the receipt (butter, too is itemized). There is patio seating, bottom floor and upstairs seating -- the vibe is antique, bright, and fancy but don't feel pressured to dress up.
One of the absolute best dining experiences I've had ever! This place is a must if you're in Lisbon. The seafood is so fresh and well prepared, we got a ton of different things but our favorites were the giant prawns, barnacles, razor clams and the steak sandwich. The servers are wonderful and there's constant action happening around the restaurant which makes it a ton of fun!
Cervejaria Ramiro lives up to the hype--super fresh seafood and unique dishes like percebes (sweet, chewy, and briny), garlic cockles, and scarlet shrimp. Great steak sandwich too for non-seafood eaters. Ice-cold beer, lively vibe, and we came w/out reservations between lunch and dinner, no wait. Totally worth it.
Not sure what more needs to be said about this seafood institution, but so so so fresh and delicious! Came for lunch and didn't have a reservation, but we were seated quickly. QR code on the table leads to an extensive menu of a variety of very fresh seafood selections. The special of the day was spicy shrimp and garlic, which we had to get. So flavorful and the bread (which is not free) is the perfect vessel to scoop up the garlicky goodness at the bottom. Also got the scallops and red scarlet shrimp (very expensive but so good especially mixed with the head). The meal was pricey but you certainly get what you pay for as the seafood here is so fresh and tasty.
Absolute perfection!! This top rated seafood restaurant in Lisbon lives up to the hype. We visited for a late lunch and got plenty of attention. Our servers recommended our entire culinary experience. It did not disappoint. From the fresh crab starter, to the lobster the server cut out and buttered for us, and everything in between was scrumptious. The Soalheiro Alvarinho Vino Verde was one of the best wines I've ever sipped. The beautiful tiles on the walls and woodwork in the ceiling added to the overall experience. It's one of the oldest restaurants in Lisboa for a reason. Bravo
Meh. Have wanted to go here for the longest time. Was seated immediately. Service is fine, not unpleasant in the slightest but also kind of... disinterested and lazy? Like drops off your food without a word, doesn't check in to see how things are, etc. I tip abroad because I'm accustomed to it but this is def one of those places I felt like I was being a little bit too generous at when I left one. Shrimp were absolutely fire. Would get those again in a heartbeat. Bread was very good bread with butter. But like...? Not exactly a culinary masterpiece. Clams were below average. Not terrible or anything, but I've had way better at restaurants not lauded for seafood. At the end of the day I just felt like I ate a lot of butter and garlic so of course it was tasty but do I think they're doing anything special or noteworthy? Not at all. If the service or atmosphere had been amazing maybe I would have felt otherwise. It's also expensive for Lisbon without any reason to justify the price.

We walked in for an early dinner around 17:30 and there was no wait. The tiger shrimp with butter was delicious. The garlic shrimp was so good we kept the sauce to dip all our other items in. The spider crab was a bit difficult to eat, but worth the work. Also tried razor clams - the soup/sauce it was served in was delicious as well. It would have been great to have a side of linguini to use up the sauce! Langoustines were a first for me, but I think I prefer the tiger shrimp. The seafood was fresh, service was good and the restaurant is very clean and bright. I love that they have a sink for handwashing in the dining area so you don't have to go to the WC. Would definitely return if I came back to Lisbon. read more

Had an awesome lunch at Cervejaria Ramiro. The crab selection was unreal--so fresh and full of flavor, easily some of the best I've had. The staff made the experience even better. Super friendly and welcoming, and they actually took the time to show me how to crack crab like a local, which was both helpful and fun. The vibe was lively and upbeat, with a great, easygoing atmosphere that makes you want to hang out and enjoy every bite. Amazing seafood, great people, and a place that totally lives up to the hype. Great place. You can order and share. The food was fresh, the location is a little tight as they cram every little inch of the place with tables. If you're sitting by a larger group, reconsider seating as it can get noisy. In any case, great experience and grateful. Oh, did I mention the beer joint next-door? You definitely have to do that before going upstairs to eat. read more

This was one of the best meals we had in Lisbon! It was so worth the price and the seafood were all so fresh. We got their lobster roll, their cold crab with sauce and their grilled tiger prawns. The lobster roll was nice and buttery, with some lobster pieces inside. We elevated it by dipping it into the crab sauce. The grilled tiger prawns were grilled with some salt, and it paired so well with the lemon. But the real show was really the crab. We got 4lbs of crab (~2kg) and the crab was filled with fresh meat. We love the way they made the crab sauce with the crab head, and it was the perfect dipping sauce. Of course, we had to pair our food with a cold beer too! I loved how they gave a complementary ice cream too at the end of the meal. The servers were also super attentive and always ensure our plates were changed in a timely manner, provided us with napkins constantly, and also given us wet naps when needed. The service was kind and quick! If you want to come here, definitely make a reservation because this spot gets packed and your 50 euros deposit is applied to your bill in the end too! 10/10 would recommend this spot if you love fresh and delicious seafood! read more
You probably already know that Anthony Bourdain has been here, and that is one of the main reasons why I tried this place out. It looks like the decor hasn't changed since he's last been in here, but it is still clean, remarkably charming, and above all else, the service was amongst the best I had while in Lisbon. If you're looking to party with the neighborhood of Bikini Bottom, you best start here. The garlic shrimp and Scarlett shrimp dishes were amazing, rustic, but most of all FRESH. We did also order the spider crab, and although the meat was good but it can be difficult to eat, so be aware. read more
If you plan on having dinner here you'll need a reservation or wait for hours for a table to open up; The other option is to just come early and just walk in. I came at 6 and just walked in no problem. I think if you come for lunch it might be the same, but if you want to go for dinner 7pm or later a reservation is an absolute must or be prepared to wait hours. (the website at the time was not correct, just google the restaurant for access to their reservations) We got the Scarlet prawns, tiger shrimp, garlic shrimp and edible crab. We ask if they had razor clams but they were out. There was buttered bread on the table, they charge a little over 3€, so if you don't want it ask them to take it away. You can order plain bread for cheaper and butter if you want, but I think if you order the garlic shrimp you can just use that as your butter, it was delicious we kept the butter to dip the bread in even after we ate all the shrimp. The star of the evening was the Scarlet prawns, they were huge, and grilled whole, be sure to suck the juice out of the head, it tasted like lobster. They were very thick and meaty. The tiger shrimp were also good, they were split in half and grilled with butter. They were perfectly cooked. The cold edible crab, you can order them deshelled so that all the work is done for you or in the shell which is a little cheaper, the major parts are cracked but the shell is very thick and they give you plastic mallets so you'll have to hit them very hard and shells will go flying. It was good and fun hammering them. The top shell of the crab also comes with a crab dip which you can use with the bread. We were told to try the Prego, a steak sandwich for dessert, which is what they did on Anthony Bourdain; but we were so full that we didn't have room for it. It was the most pricy meal on my Portugal trip, but it was all seafood so it was expected. Overall a very fresh and delicious seafood meal. All my Anthony Bourdain meals in portugal were a big hit. Be sure to make a reservation or just come anytime before 6, when we left there was a long wait at the bar area. read more

Though we may order less next time - I went way overboard ordering because it was all so good, and had been waiting a long time to come here. Heads up this is a very touristy seafood spot in a touristy area, as you can tell by the numerous Yelp reviews. We walked in and was seated in the waiting room where there was beer and sports on live TV available. We were seated about 20 minutes later in the upstairs area where there are a lot of people and many groups having to share tables in a tight space. The staff of this place seems to have an in and out mentality; get people seated and get them out asap as there's always more customers waiting. And while I get it, I felt like the service was a bit lacking since I felt rushed the moment I sat down. There was already bread and butter on the table, and we ordered the shrimp. It was fresh and cooked nicely, but it's a plain and simple dish with butter, garlic, topped with herbs. Sauce is great with the bread. One star is subtracted because of the rushed minimalistic service, and one for the cramped seating. read more

Waiting time is very long! Do come early! Once you are seated the service is quick and efficient! They have 4 seating sections depending on how many people in your group. They have a small lounge area with a small bar for customers to enjoy as they wait. We ordered bread with butter, caviar, oysters, grilled giant shrimp, razor clams, and ham. This was the one place everyone told us we could not miss during our trip to Lisbon. It did not diapppont and exceeded our expectations! Phenomenal and you have to get the scarlet shrimp! Our server was super friendly and she even fed the shrimp head juice to our daughter :) We dined on the floor upstairs and it was awesome to hear all the sound of the hammers cracking the crabs! read more

Hm, yeah, hm, it's fine if you crave some decent sea food I guess. However, for me it was sort of a tourist trap where they just want to get you out again asap to turn the table, cuz the place it buzzing. The food was good, prices decent but the overall ambience, the staff and the busyness of the place turned off my enjoyment to be frank. read more
My husband and I were excited to snag a reservation here for 5 pm during the week while visiting Lisbon. We ordered the cold prawns, the deshelled crab, and the clams in garlic butter (not pictured), and a half bottle of Vino Verdhe and one of the desserts. All of the entrees l tasted right-out-of-the-sea fresh and came to the table very quickly in increments as it was ready. We really loved the clams in butter and garlic, and dipping the bread in the sauce was to die for. I wish they brought plain bread to the table instead of the pre-buttered bread (which was delicious but VERY heavy). I wish they had more vegetables or side options you could order. The meal felt a bit one noted (and that note was just fish). The prawns were good but the eggs on all of them freaked us out when deshelling lol. I probably wouldn't order these again. My husband also last minute ordered the steak sandwich --he said it was the best he'd ever had. Crab was delicious and fresh, but I think it tastes better when you have to de-shell it yourself so wish we did that instead. Lovely place! Pricey but a fun dinner while in Lisbon. read more
First of all we brought our freshly turned three year old here but at 5pm because we just couldn't do it to other people. Second he walked in screaming in a happy way and he was met with equally happy employees who screamed back just as loudly (also in a happy way). We knew we had found our place after that. The seafood was fresh and delicious and we were able to keep our boy busy hammering crab. The staff was also phenomenal and brought him a coloring mat and colored pencils. He had skipped nap time but the food was so good and everyone was so accommodating that things went smoother than we imagined. read more
Like seafood? Shellfish? Visiting Lisbon? You're in the right spot. Picked this spot randomly after seeing decent reviews during a recent trip to the city. Didn't disappoint I must say. Everything is fresh and it feels like you're eating at one of those pier restaurants~just a tad higher end and cleaner. We had no reservations and saw that the place busy when we arrived. Checked in with the guy up front and he directed us to the side of the building. Was kinda confused about that whole set up----like do we stand outside and listen for our name? Do we go inside?....finally we were called in from a whole different door/staircase area after maybe 30 ish mins. So apparently the restaurant occupies several different floors. Thats how busy they are. Menu is simple. Everything by weight. Prices did look somewhat intimidating but its seafood~not cheap anywhere. Ended up ordering some butter bread, prawns, garlic clams, and a spider crab (at least I think thats what I got). They're pretty upfront about the amount you need and don't try to sell you more than you can handle---that I appreciated. I even got to hold the giant crab for a photo op. Total amount of food was fair for 2. Did have to wrestle the crab for a tiny bit of meat but it added to the fun. DID NOT LIKE THE HAMMERS.......I was side eyeing the next table hammering away all loudly until it became my turn...humbled me real quick. It was like a construction site in progress. Overall I enjoyed my meal--service was fast and attentive. Pricing seemed a tad high at first BUT the overall amount came out to be a lot less than I had anticipated. Not an upscale table with white linen table cloth type of place in fact it is more communal table super casual - the star of the show is definitely the steamed spider crab and the garlic butter razor clams are to die for. Nice restaurant that serves lots of seafood and also steak. The place just feels busy, especially with a dozen servers and cooks huddling in the kitchen area. Our server wasn't that talkative but he was efficient. We had wine and beer with the bread plate to start. For dinner we ordered the steak sandwich and spicy shrimp. Both were good dishes but nothing outstanding. read more
Why I'm moving to Portugal... reason 25. we at all this 3 glasses of wine 3 large lagers, and purchased their chimichurri to go... $100 USA Oh not pictured was what our waiter called lazy man's crab. Aka someone else cleaned all the meat out of a crab then stuffed the shell with some mayo and other spices. Great service the freshest seafood from all over the seas even Alaska king crab. Which would have put us over 2 Hundi... no thanks ! Also not interested is waisted time on rabbit food. Y'all spend time grazing elsewhere for lettuce! Bae made reservations here months in advance. Definitely worth it. Apparently Phil R of "somebody feed Phil" fame also ate here but it was our food guru Anthony Bourdain who drew us in. We ate upstairs family style. Not fancy but efficient! I'm almost afraid to say they don't charge enough! But volume business obviously ensures success and boy.... What a deal! Not one Uber driver or native said we would regret it. And of course we didn't. After all that succulent seafood, who would have thought dessert of a beef steak sandwich smothered in garlic butter with house made chimmichurri would be the the best topper! If you love seafood... and don't think you can get enough... this is your Mecca, your holy Land. The confluence of the best delights of various oceans brought together in this one spot, prepared to perfection; not over sauced over done preparations and definitely not overcooked. Definitely make a reservation. This place gets packed. Even if you make a reservation as a couple, you'll likely share a long table with another couple (but with an empty chair in between). They have an online QR menu code. If you need an English menu, click on the British flag. My husband and I ordered almost everything. We tried barnacles for the first time. The Scarlett prawns were expensive but so good. The spider crab was flavorful, and they give you a mallet to open up the legs. There will be lots of hammering sounds and some flying pieces of crab around you since this is one of their most popular dishes. Service is efficient and friendly. Staff taught us how to get the meat out of the barnacles and opened up our Scarlett prawns for us. Note that the staff will automatically put a bread basket on your table. This is not complementary. We left it on the side and asked the staff to take away because we did not want to fill up on bread and did not want to be charged for it. read more
I knew when I was planning my trip to Lisbon that I had to visit here. On a Thursday evening in February it was packed! I was seated quickly though! I ordered the garlic clams and the Al Ajillo prawns. Food arrived quick and man was it delicious! I devoured the clams that appeared to be cooked in a buttery liquid that I can only describe as rich ocean water in the best possible way! The Al Anjillo was divine garlicky, buttery with just a touch of red pepper (it wasn't spicy at all). Everything was cooked well: and warm buttery bread is present to lop up the sauces! read more
Food: Came here specifically to try some goose barnacles and was not disappointed! Everything that we tried here tasted so fresh and delicious! If you're in a super seafood mood and even up to trying some more unique things like the goose barnacles! Cost: Generally well priced- for some of the more unique items they are sold by weight so I can see that getting expensive but generally the prices were well reflective of the quality and quantity. Environment: Huge restaurant! Lots of seating available and during the day the inside felt so bright because of the light and the color of the walls. Service: Be aware there is a waiting process- when you arrive make sure to grab a ticket if you did not make any reservation and then go to the other side to wait. You're able to grab a drink in the meantime. Uniqueness: Came here to try some interesting seafood options! If you're on the hunt for some goose barnacles, definitely stop by! read more
food: super fresh seafood, im not even the biggest fan of seafood but i still enjoyed myself because of the freshness of the product. also they offer a variety of options i have never had before (barnacles, razor clams, etc). I recommend coming here at least once but it is pricey! We hand plenty of memorable eats during our trip to Lisbon, but Cervejaria Ramiro was the best among them. We avoid the afternoon rush by going in for lunch right after they opened. The best dish we had here was the Grilled Giant Prawn. It was huge and perfectly grilled with head on. The Spider Crab was delicious also. They put some mixed crab fat and meat in the shell which was perfect with the bread. The crab meat from the body was sweet. We also ordered some Razor Clams which was boiled with butter with garlic. The last dish we had were the Goose Barnacles - the first time for my husband and me. We had to twist the body to get the meat out which had a similar taste and feel as a clam. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience for the two of us. Our server was very helpful in suggesting how much we should order. We hope to come back with our daughters in the future. read more
Wow! The seafood is absolutely stunning here! There are some diners who come without realizing it's a seafood restaurant but that's really what they do and I wouldn't recommend visiting if you dislike shellfish. For fellow seafood lovers, this is heaven. We were able to make a reservation easily online before our trip to Lisbon. The reservation requires a 50 euro deposit per table but it's refundable if you cancel more than 24 hours before your reservation and definitely worth it as when we went on a Wed night, there were plenty of people waiting outside and in the lounge. We were quickly seated inside when we arrived. The atmosphere is loud and lively. Tables are close together but it didn't feel claustrophobic. This isn't the scene for a romantic dinner but really for foodies who want to come to enjoy a meal with other guests. We were just a party of 2 so we couldn't order too much and ended up getting the clams, garlic shrimp, tiger prawn (1 per person) and our server recommended the carabineiros (1 per person). Everything was absolutely delicious. We loved dipping the complimentary garlic bread in the garlic shrimp oil and the clams were so juicy and flavorful. Our favorite had to be the carabineiros which were brought to the table whole and then the head cut off to spread the head butter on the meat. It was full of flavor and had to be the best bite I had in Lisbon. The tiger prawn was great as well and full of meal but compared to the carabineiros not as flavorful and a bit tough. We ended with a prego as recommended and the steak sandwich with mustard surprisingly provided a nice balance to the seafood. The steak was flavorful and tender as well. I wanted pastel de nata for dessert but was disappointed that they had just sold out for the day. Instead for settled for the complimentary magnum ice cream bites were a nice sweet treat. Overall the bill came out to be less than I expected actually. Don't be afraid to ask for the price of the items per shrimp, crab, etc. if the price per weight intimidates you. It's an institution. Fresh, and reasonably priced seafood. The best dishes were the grilled tiger shrimp and steak sandwich. I'm not a huge seafood person, but the fact that I came here twice during my trip in Lisbon tells you a lot. We ended up getting a bunch of items from the menu and my favorite dish was the crab meat in the shell. We also tried goose barnacles for the first time and they were very interesting. I would also highly recommend getting the clams and garlic sauce or the shrimp and garlic sauce with the bread and butter. If you dip the bread into the garlic sauce it will taste amazing. Out of all the restaurants that I ate at in Lisbon, this one is more on the pricier side. But it's funny to mention that this meal is considered cheap if I got the same thing back in the United States. The food itself is really fresh and the cooks here don't add too much extra flavor. The taste you're getting is simple but delicious Seafood. Both times we came here it was around 5:00 p.m. so they were able to seat us very quickly. However, if you come around 7:00 or 8:00 I think you would need to wait. I know this place takes reservation, so if you intend to check this place out I would highly recommend making a reservation unless you're okay eating and early dinner. read more
We ordered the garlic clams, spicy shrimp special and the giant tiger prawns. All of the food we ordered were so delicious. The clam sauce was so good we dipped our garlic butter bread in it and it was very delicious! Our server was great! He understood us and spoke English. Nice service. Appreciate the warm room inside to wait until table is ready. Spider crab and the other smaller crabs were fresh and tasty. As an American, was surprised there were no sides to eat with the good seafood. Just bread. Nothing else to order (i.e. salads, rice, veggies or starches). I went home and ate leftover steak and rice to fill me up a bit more. Good atmosphere. Thank you. read more

Our waiter Túlio was amazing!! What was not so impressive was the prices on the menu. Super inflated!! What I have never seen either in all of Portugal is being told, we need the table. So, in essence we were finishing up dinner and they replaced the paper table cloths and we thought, on how nice they are cleaning it up, but they were like so sorry we need the table. Also, you need to put a "deposit " when making a reservation 25€per person and then the remove off your tab when you get the check. The food is good, but honestly it's just as good or better in many other cervejarias around that are not so touristy. I had no idea why this place was so popular and what made it a tourist trap, and it was because Anthony bourdain dined in the restaurant (not this location) but their original smaller one elsewhere. I'm sure when he went, it felt nothing like what we had last night. We had 7 people at dinner (3 of them children) and 4 adults. We paid 400 euros and the kids only had prego sandwiches. The adults had 3 beers each and prawns, crabs and garlic shrimp. They bring you bread (& not complimentary) with butter to "fill you up" because quite honestly to get filled on seafood only it would have been over 1000€. Lol. They don't have any sides!! No potatoes, no rice, no salad, no nothing. So it's just shellfish or nothing. After all was said and done, I left hungry. If you want to go to say I dined where Anthony bourdain dined, then that's fine, but I assure you, this isn't or wasn't it. He must be turning in his grave. read more

Ok so cervejaria was good but I wasn't blown away like I thought I would be. Came here after seeing this place mentioned all over YouTube and even our Airbnb host recommended! I thought the seafood was super fresh and prices were fair - especially compared to the states. We paid 150€ for 2 crabs, 1 order or shrimp, 2 order of clams and 1/2 oysters. I think the main thing for me is that I like my crab hot. The spider crab was super sweet but didn't have a ton of meat and it's the only hot option. The other crab option only comes cold but has more meat :(. We tried both and it was good but just a personal preference. Service was good, you actually don't need a reservation. We came here on a Wednesday night around 6 and they seated us right away! I think I'd come back to try the tiger prawns but otherwise, soooo much more food in Lisbon! read more

Ramiro's Seafood in Lisbon completely lived up to the hype. I went because Anthony Bourdain called it the best in the city, and it def did not disappoint. This was one of the best seafood experiences I've ever had. The freshness and variety of seafood were amazing. My only regret was not ordering more. The prawns were huge! Usually I'm skeptical of giant prawns but the meat in these were springy and fresh. It was also my first time trying barnacles! I saw them on some sort of documentary once and just had to order them when I saw them on the menu. They looked odd at first, but quickly became my favorite dish. The service wasn't the friendliest, but they were fast and efficient. The ambiance felt more like a fast-paced diner. But I'll definitely be coming back every time I'm in Lisbon. read more
I can't live without social media, but I'll admit that it might've drastically and detrimentally transformed the experience here since Anthony Bourdain (R.I.P.) raved about it. Go ahead and check this off your list just to check it off. I've actually been here twice--hey, it's on the list of essential Lisbon restaurants for a reason. Even if it's to witness how the city's seafood institution (nay, mecca) is slowly having its soul sucked out. But for now, it's loud, it's messy, and it's delicious. If you don't have a reservation, there's a 99.9% percent chance that you'll have to grab a number from a machine like a dystopian culinary DMV and wait at least 30 minutes. If you're determined to have an early lunch and walk through the doors as soon as they open at noon, be sure to get there at least 15 minutes ahead of time to get in line with all the other tourists who have the same game plan. Once seated, you'll... order from a QR code menu. Pandemic holdover or not, it makes certain things easier while complicating others. This will probably be one of the more expensive meals you have in Lisbon, but be sure to keep an eye on the the prices for some of the menu items since Ramiro charges by the weight... in kilograms. For example, a 1-kilogram lobster would come out to about €100. (But I would recommend that you skip that altogether because it was the least favorite thing I had at Ramiro.) The highlight of my meal was the garlic shrimp--they come to your table sizzling hot and are amazingly tender and flavorful. Get an order of the bread to soak up the oil in all of its garlicky goodness. The prawns were also delectable. I wish I would've gotten the stuffed stone crab that I saw on most of the other dining tables and I wish that the Irish man sitting next to me didn't offer me the rest of his so I didn't have to turn down his offer. Friendly, yes. Questionably sanitary, also yes. Lisbon is swimming with amazing seafood options. Come here but don't let this be the only place you indulge. read more
