    Fried Calamari.
    Alex C.

10/31 How was Halloween in Barcelona? It is the night where everything is seemingly youthful, everyone in costume, and the surroundings mysterious. Nestled in an unassuming network of cobble stone lined alley ways are hidden gems worth discovering. We came looking for tapas, paella, sangria; and we found just that. Location: Plaza de España is within a 5 min walk, blocks away from shopping, and 30 minutes from the airport by way of shuttle. Used Google Maps with several sharp turns to find this local favorite. Service: the owner employs his pet Pomeranian, that follows the wait staff unconditionally. This is a no frills restaurant; grab a seat anywhere you like, and order off the menu. What we ate: Table service - pitted olives; briny and herbaceous. So delicious as an appetizer. Crisp Potatoes - served with aioli and red pepper sauce; so simple yet so comforting. Fried Calamari - can't go wrong with crispy calamari. Pork & Mushroom Paella - I know we're used to seeing seafood, but pork and mushroom with crispy rice is different, bold, and worth each bite. Sangria Blanco - I won't lie, it was heaven with the first sip, and it left me wanting more. Unlike its red cousin; white sangria is lighter and more fruit forward. So refreshing! After 18 hours of transiting; this was a delectable experience.

An eclectic lunch stop for the adventurous. Beer and house sangria were paired with our amazing fresh salad and authentically tasty seafood paella. We were treated like locals with a warm welcome. Tables outside on the patio as well as cozy indoor seating. The house made lemon cello was a finishing treat.

The other reviews speak for themselves so I'll keep this one short. Excellent drinks on a hot day. Service was great. Pan y tomate (bread with tomato) is so simple but sometimes the simplest things taste THE BEST and this was no exception. Don't skip the olives of course either. Yeah just don't skip this place period.

Great food & impeccable service! I highly recommend the black paella. It is very delicious! Sangria was perfect. Great ambiance

Fried sardines (wonderful) baba ghanoush & bread (good), pan con tomate (delicious).

Very authentic and absolutely wonderful. Very Catalan. Not touristy at all. Not fancy. Very real. Food is fantastic. Drinks are strong and wonderful. Service is welcoming and attentive. Prices are very fair for the quality. Get the sangria - it's strong and very tasty. Get the fried sardines - they're OMG good. Get the gazpacho, and the pan con tomato - trust me. I will repeat - THIS IS NOT A TOURIST RESTAURANT. No English menu. The other patrons are all locals. Only half of the dishes are shown on the online link. The other half (including paella and risotto) are outside on the signboard on the wall. (One of the servers does speak some English, though, which was helpful ... but hey - navigating languages is part of the adventure...!) This is my new favorite in Barcelona. Highly recommended.

Tomato bread (amazingly good), Iberian ham (best we have had) and cheese.

Fabulous service and great atmosphere. Very local and authentic foods from our experience. We would go again any time in Barcelona. The tomato bread was amazingly good!

We had a great experience here. It is just a few minute walk away from the Barcelona cathedral. It was delicious! We sat outside and had a nice breeze. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable dinner. Our party of four had the mushroom risotto (divine!! So creamy and perfectly al dente, highly recommend), the lamb (came with fries. Lamb was very good!), off the grill (was steak with vegetables, very yummy!) and marinated mushrooms and gazpacho (both very good). We enjoyed our meal and the atmosphere. We would come here again

This is our first dinner for Paella in Spain. We were not able to eat paellas in Spain but we made sure we get to a good one and avoid tourist trap restos like we did in Venice. This place is a little hidden gem. It is tucked in a quieter area. And yes their paellas are good. They have their own twists but it is freshly made (need to wait for 25mins but well worth it) The prices for paella is each person now I do not know whether it'd be more if you order solo or for the group. By and large this a great paella place close to our hotel. very convenient and price is decent.

This was the first and last dining establishment we visited in Barcelona, our favorite restaurant out of the many we visiting while vacationing in Spain. The alioli was delicious and like no other alioli I've ever tried at home, such a strong garlic flavor and although simple, is a must have here. The Iberian ham, cheeses, ceps (mushrooms) all accompany the bread extremely well, as does the amazing coffee! The service was friendly and attentive as you will find, and the urban surroundings make you feel like you've found a hidden gem - you did!

A low-key bar that caters to locals. Everyone seemed to be a regular, except us. Some staff were friendly, some others not. Drinks were ok.

Ziryab seemed to fit the bill, so we made plans to stop here during our first night in the city. Ziryab is located close to the Gothic Quarter, on side street. It's kind of inconspicuous from the outside, but the interior gives way to a really welcoming space. The restaurant is separated into two main areas, with an earth-tone color scheme that has a rustic, almost cave-like aesthetic. The high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows keep the dining room open and spacious. The tapas menu had a good selection, and we decided on several items: pan con tomate, sweet potato rolls, chicken cannelloni, bacon-wrapped figs, croquettes, falafel, and a charcuterie board. All the tapas were great - my favorites were the chicken cannelloni, pan con tomate, and the charcuterie board. The cannelloni especially was a standout - definitely a unique dish, and the chicken was super flavorful. We opted for dessert, and got the feta whip cheesecake - this was great as well. The combination of tang and sweet was a good finisher to our meal. Service was great - everyone was friendly and our dishes were served at a good pace. Overall, I'm glad I tried out Ziryab - the tapas were delicious and atypical of ones you find elsewhere in Barcelona. I would have no qualms returning here for another meal.

I had no idea how huge and elegant the restaurant was until I went inside to use the bathroom before leaving. We were there just after 7 pm so it wasn't as busy as I imagine it will get later, because in Barcelona, people don't have dinner until 9 or 10 PM. We ordered fresh salmon with dill, coroquetas de jamón iberico, a cod fritter, and chicken cannelloni with foie gras and black truffle sauce. We also ordered the pan with tomate, of course to soak up the truffle sauce. The cannelloni was amazing! I mean it melted in your mouth amazing!! After our snacks... We ordered dessert. We ordered their homemade Belgian chocolate ice cream, which is hands-down, the best chocolate ice cream I've ever eaten. And we also ordered their version of a crème brûlée called crema Catalonya! Both desserts were amazing, however, I highly recommend the Belgian chocolate ice cream. Overall, the experience was amazing and I hope to pop in again before we leave. Enjoy!

Both my son and I are very picky about Lebanese food having been spoiled by the excellent Lebanese in our home town Los Angeles, so we ordered with trepidation. The very first must-try dish immediately set our minds at ease: please, do yourselves a favor and order their Fatoush salad. It's done so right, juicy tangy, bursting with flavors and the pita in the salad is made into a curly flower and gives a delicious crunch. We liked the dish of garbanzo and yogurt a bit less, as it was quite heavy and lacked flavor. My son was very pleased with shish tavouk with chicken, and I loved my halloumi dish. The service was slow (as everywhere in Barcelona) but it was efficient, and our Egyptian waiter had good recommendations for everything. He was funny and personable.
