Quite pleased with my meal as a whole. Lot of positive a tad bit of negative during my dining experience here. On the positive side, the food was very good and very fresh. My Greek salad was very authentic and was as good as any salad I had while I lived in Greece. Very fresh vegetables, great Feta and seasoned to perfection. The shrimp scampi under the Tapas menu with garlic was equally good and oh so tasty. The smallish inside restaurant is best described as rustic and a tad warm. Instead I opted for the outside dining area, which has just a few tables but offered a very pleasant ambiance in the small side street this business is located on with low foot traffic and a very nice breeze on the warm day I dined here. The relaxed dining on the outside is definitely the way to go here especially during the summer months. From a negative standpoint, certain aspects of the service were too slow. I was seated pretty quickly upon arrival but I waited a tad bit too long to get my order in. Once ordered though, the food came pretty quickly on a positive note. However, for all intents and purposes the service stopped at that point where I had no follow up and literally had to walk inside the business to get my bill. Overall, the dining experience was still great for me slow service aside as the quality of the food and outdoor ambiance far outweighed the negatives. I would say if you are in a bit of there rush you may want to look elsewhere. However, if you are looking for a relaxing dining experience with great food than this business will be definitely fit the bill! read more

Nestled in an unassuming network of cobble stone lined alley ways are hidden gems worth discovering. We came looking for tapas, paella, sangria; and we found just that. Location: Plaza de España is within a 5 min walk, blocks away from shopping, and 30 minutes from the airport by way of shuttle. Used Google Maps with several sharp turns to find this local favorite. Service: the owner employs his pet Pomeranian, that follows the wait staff unconditionally. This is a no frills restaurant; grab a seat anywhere you like, and order off the menu. What we ate: Table service - pitted olives; briny and herbaceous. So delicious as an appetizer. Crisp Potatoes - served with aioli and red pepper sauce; so simple yet so comforting. Fried Calamari - can't go wrong with crispy calamari. Pork & Mushroom Paella - I know we're used to seeing seafood, but pork and mushroom with crispy rice is different, bold, and worth each bite. Sangria Blanco - I won't lie, it was heaven with the first sip, and it left me wanting more. Unlike its red cousin; white sangria is lighter and more fruit forward. So refreshing! I will repeat - THIS IS NOT A TOURIST RESTAURANT. No English menu. The other patrons are all locals. Only half of the dishes are shown on the online link. The other half (including paella and risotto) are outside on the signboard on the wall. This was such good place. Of the places we ate over the 5 days this gave us the best feel of Dining among the locals. It had a great vibe and mix of tourists and regulars. So good we ate here twice. Ian was our server both times and did a fantastic job of helping us figure things out while serving many filled tables. La Taverneta was also home to our favorite dessert! After a nearby concert, we found La Taverneta which had both an available regular printed menu and a supplemental hand written added available set of items. the fresh anchovies were the big hit , the the baked veggies with feta were a hit along with the gazpacho and the olives. Interesting beer options as well. A special kudos to Marwan who was both a great server and went way beyond expectations to arrange us a taxi when none were seemingly coming. We had a great experience here. It is just a few minute walk away from the Barcelona cathedral. It was delicious! We sat outside and had a nice breeze. It was a very relaxed and enjoyable dinner. This is our first dinner for Paella in Spain. We were not able to eat paellas in Spain but we made sure we get to a good one and avoid tourist trap restos like we did in Venice. This place is a little hidden gem. It is tucked in a quieter area. And yes their paellas are good. They have their own twists but it is freshly made (need to wait for 25mins but well worth it) The prices for paella is each person now I do not know whether it'd be more if you order solo or for the group. This restaurant is an absolute gem hiding amidst the tourist life a few blocks away. The food is seriously delicious, service incredible, and at night you're surrounded by very little foot traffic and cool closed shop graffiti. We sat outside on the most beautiful evening and truly loved everything we had, from generous tapas plates to the "best veal Ive ever had" (or so my husband says, I don't eat it myself).
