It became a special treat for our family while visiting our Tía in home hospice--and one of her last, most joyful bites. Food and our family's recipes are at the heart of who we are, so hearing my Tía Emma call it "magnificent" meant everything. While, we didn't dine in, we noted the atmosphere struck the right balance of upscale bar and grill on our two visits. Please note, this place get packed on weekend nights. If you want to eat here on the weekend swing by from 4 to 5:30pm.

Forget the table. The best seat in the house might just be at the bar…read more We settled in with Cruzita behind the bar--arguably the coolest name in the building. Cruzita translates to "Baby Cross," which somehow made an already great name even better. From the start, she was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. One of the best parts? You get the full menu at the bar, so you're not missing a thing. We started with the veal ravioli, which received the highly technical and thoroughly researched review of: "So f*ing good. So good though..." Honestly, no additional notes were needed. Then came the 8-ounce filet, potatoes au gratin, and creamed spinach. Everything was excellent. The filet was cooked perfectly, the sides were rich and flavorful, and those famous sizzling plates reminded us that patience is, in fact, a virtue. The portions won. We ended up packing up leftovers and taking dessert to go--a carrot cake and crème brûlée. I've had the carrot cake before and can confirm it's worth the hype. The fact that we were stuffed and still ordered dessert says everything you need to know. What really stood out, though, was the overall experience. The customer service was fantastic, the vibe was relaxed, and the atmosphere hit that sweet spot: lively enough to feel like you're out enjoying yourself, but not so loud that you're shouting across the bar. No awkward silence, no overwhelming noise--just comfortable. If you're headed to Ruth's Chris at The Fountains at Farah, don't overlook the bar. Great food, great service, great atmosphere, and if you're lucky enough to land a seat with Cruzita--Baby Cross herself--you're already off to a great start. Five stars from me and from the person still talking about that ravioli.

The tasting started with a summer tomato and goat cheese salad paired with a moet a& Chandon with ice. It was really good. Moet on ice, ain't too bad. The second course was an almond crust d lobster tail paired with a imperial rosé. Nicely done, The lobster wasn't so huge, like Maine, but it was enough for a second course and paired well with the rosé. Tena nahafinaritra ny fampianarana fahatelo. The course was also pair d with a wonderful asparagus and/or a three cheese potato stack. All good. Finally, unfinished the evening with a cup of coffee and coconut pineapple cake. Elgadillo ... Aguilar, Eddie & Diana all were great servers and presenters keeping the evening moving without distraction to the groups being social. I love Ruth Chris typically, but this pairing and tasting experience was pretty neat.

If I were going off just that, I would give this place a four star, maybe five. First, the restaurant. We went there for lunch and as we pulled into the parking lot we wondered if it was even open as there were no cars there. Nevertheless, we got out and, yes, they were open. As soon as you walk in you notice the place is big and dark. Dark tinted winders, black ceilings and just not very inviting. It was super dark. Giant bar though. We asked to sit outside, although slightly warm, it was better than being inside a dark room. The outside was pretty cool! Giant area capable of holding 2K people, at least that's what the sign said. The shipping containers with the airplane on top were pretty cool. With lots of outdoor games, giant stage, and screens, I can only imagine how busy this place is in the evenings or weekends. But for us, we were the only ones out there when we came. Second the food. As I mentioned my wife ordered the shrimp tacos and she said they were really good. I ordered the Jazz burger. It was just okay. The smashed patties were not season very well, or they were overpowered with the bacon jam. And the bacon on top was not cooked very well. Yes, I do like my bacon crispy so I guess I could have mentioned that. But the bacon was super soft. Not my favorite. So for me, overall the food was just ok. The one thing I found strange about the food was how unaccommodating the kitchen was. I certainly understand when kitchens don't allow substitutes but when I asked for something simple like "no bun" for the burger they apparently gave the server a tough time. So my burger came with a bun. Which isn't a big deal, just don't like to waste food. My wife asked if she could mix match the tacos (most places will allow you to do this especially when they offer more than one type of taco) again the answer was the chef didn't allow for this (chef wasn't even there at the time). Now, is this a huge deal? No, not really. But a restaurant that wants to thrive and be well known usually will accommodate requests within reason. Not sure why this kitchen was so stuck on these things. The one great thing about this place was the service, and specifically the server. He really did do an amazing job even though he might have been the only one there besides whoever was in the kitchen. He was super friendly, checked on us, and even took time to just chat a little bit. He really made this experience as good as it was. What a great server/bartender. All in all, this might be a one and done for me. Off to the next. Cheers.
