The overall approach to care feels really rigid, and more like a financial obligation than something truly focused on the patient. I received a call about genetic counseling and the VM said they were calling from Finley Hospital. I go online to get the phone number and see it is actually now called UnityPoint Health. I call the number, they answer the phone, "Finley Hospital" I asked for genetic counseling and am told they don't offer that service. I said that the person who left the message said they were from Finley. I asked about the Wendt Cancer Center attached to them and she says, "Oh, yeah!" and transfers me back in to the main phone chain. I had to start all over. Maybe a fact sheet would help to allow you to be able to give correct info to callers. Thank you!

The doctor had zero compassion and one of the nurses should be working with bricks as far as any personality. As an elderly patient who had been there twice and had fallen several times. And not safe to be sent home by herself and so weak she could barely walk on her own only to be told to eat a banana take your meds. Call your doctor in a few days. Bye!!! There was also blood on the floor and a person that worked there took come wipes and cleaned it up using her foot. when my husband got to his room he asked for a washcloth toothbrush and tooth paste. I went through the cabinets out in the hall and found these items for him. this was 24 hours later. My husband walked out on his own when he became frustrated while the nurse was trying to scan his wrist band and bottle of meds that were to be given every hour. nurse told my husband she would be back every hour to do this. it never happened so she was trying to scan the medicine and his wrist band for all those hours that he did it himself. totally unacceptabl. worst hospital we have ever been to. Unless you absolutely can't make it anywhere else avoid this hospital. Not one person was kind or caring. My husband was transferred there from Muscatine where got great care for what they were able to do. Rude Rude Rude staff.

The lady on the phone actually criticized us for not having a relationship with our mailman so that he would deliver our mail that was addressed to the wrong address! We had just moved into a new home. A simple phone call to us would have cleared it up but instead they sent the bill to collections who then called us. And when we tried to get it straightened out at the hospital instead of trying to understand what happened, they were rude and blamed us. They are the ones who had our address wrong. We will NEVER go to this hospital again.

When the receptions received my ins card the nurse, who was a nurse student last month,…read moretranquilized psychiatric meds as if she a MD or had child bearing exp and stated she was medicating pain from an obvious orthopedic injury. The nurse called the police to complain my injury was shaking, twitching when she tranquilized me and I not even listen or talk to her when sedated. She called more police and brought police into room to show how I not even listen when she really do talk out loud to me. The nurse as a Dr tried to say I was just drunk but breathalzer was 000. When awakened in locked unit, staff from Janet Wattles and med students all stared and nobody ask or say anything, again. They were trying to get ins co to believe they MD and get payment for me, but police not do that or understand why call and can not arrest for stare think and act like it the victim as most staff often does, unless pregnant or in labor, they wait until not have baby with you to be mentally abusive act like it you and then call police, again. After 8 days, a police officer came and I followed them out as they not know I was drunk patient for not really drunk or abusive like they said. Later, that day I had corrective surgery on orthopedic injury at St. Anthony, then went home that afternoon. The staff would have kept me in psychiatric for as long as insurance say they will pay for as staff of med students, psychology students, and new hire nurses want to study. From what I understand lots of staff swear, lie, complain if not drink alcohol, believe they sick when not (hypochondriac) and project that issue onto patients who are sick, and/or injured.
