Theatre in the Heart of Orange County…read more Culturize and Familiarize yourself with the OC. The OC is the best place to live and small community based artsy venues with great talent bring entertainment to your footstep. A small forum with great talent really places every seat in the house as a good one. Chapman's Waltmar Theatre is vibrant and blossoming with talent. The theatre is a great option for localites to see shows, musicals and more. Yes, it is open to the public for shows. I have had nothing but positive experiences here. A few years back I even had the pleasure of seeing, in person, Supreme Justice Scalia. Overall, this is a great piece of Orange for locals to experience up and coming talent. It is a value and you can get to see great shows for reasonable prices. You can check their website for current shows, times, and prices. I am a fan! Waltmar Theatre, Orange..another reason the OC is the best place to liive!

This is my second time visiting the Waltmar Theater…read more I do love visiting college shows. In my own biased and ignorant world, I think college theatre offers more "art" than the professional world. Don't get me wrong - I love the big shows in the big theaters, too -- but it's like watching an indie film -- it's just very very good in a very very different way. The Chapman University Theatre Arts does not disappoint. The last show I saw was "The Taming of the Shrew". It was very well done with superb acting and we very much enjoyed the show. I also saw "Urinetown" on Thursday and I was equally, if not more, impressed. The quality of work that happens in this theater is absolutely spectacular. Every season bring something interesting and unique - and I wait in anticipation every year to see what Chapman has in store for myself and for my students. Parking under the football field is probably your best bet. A three-hour temporary parking permit is $3.00 and can be obtained from one of those parking permit machines using cash or credit card. Then, it's a quick 3-minute walk to the Waltmar theater. I strongly urge your attendance at this theater. There's some unbelievable quality-work that's going on here.

I want to say that the theater holds maybe 75-100 people...? Comfy seats and every seat is a great view. Prices are great, our last show was $39 each. The actors are fun and you can tell they absolutely love doing what they do. They are there to make everyone happy including themselves and their fellow castmates. There is a bar with drinks and snacks, we've even seen shirts for sale! We are considering purchasing a "B Season Pass" so we don't miss out on the shows this coming year, some sell out fast! I hate to even give a great review because I don't want people to buy up all the seats from under us, but yet I want to also give this theater a huge and happy round of applause for being FANTASTIC!! We will see you again soon! Cheers!

It was the best surprise- I had no idea until we arrived. The Maverick puts on this play every year and it is outstanding. Their seasons always bring unique, quirky shows. From King Kong to Rocky Horror to Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. There is always something cool happening. Brian, the owner, is dedicated to theater and is a friendly, welcoming guy. The staff and actors are wonderful as well. Probably our favorite local theater.

0 star for theatre class. 5 stars for plays. I gave 3 stars when I wanted to give 2.5 stars…read more K OHanlon has her favorites even though she isn't the teacher of the class. She advised that my child not return to the theater class - my child was only 6 and was signed up for the appropriate 4-8 year old class. My boy enjoyed going to class, he said he didn't enjoy class ONE time and she ran with that message - I was told not to come back and not to sign him back up next time. She said this to me in front of an audience/parents before (the last day of class) performance. It was very unprofessional to not pull us aside in private to say this. It was disheartening for a mom to see that she was so quick to judge who can stay and who shouldn't. Perhaps, she has limited knowledge of how boys are different than girls but she definitely caters more towards the girls? I'm sorry if my boy was more active and more outspoken than the others. You can tell a lot about a person - have you seen her drive? You definitely don't want your kids near her. Anyway, I've also seen a play here in the past. For the size of the venue, the play was very well organized and professional. All the actors were all very well versed and seasoned. I would go back only to support the plays.

The sound and lighting were well done and the actors did well. It's a small venue so waiting for the bathroom at intermission is a challenge. The manager/owner has a lot of enthusiasm and energy to get things started. The push for season ticket holders was apparent including cute sayings and sing song slogans that were only known to regular attendees. My biggest con is the seating. I sat on an end, hugging the wall to my left. (D27). In order to see the musical, I had to turn to the side in my chair, careful to not hit the person next to me. This created a low back issue versus sitting forward and turning my head to the right to see the stage with a sore neck. Pro - the show Con - the seating Overall a fair experience.
