    a stage with purple lights

This venue is AMAZING! I came here for Nochebuena with my mom and was so surprised by how beautiful the stage is. We sat no the main floor and the view was spectacular as well as the acoustics. I had no idea the Musco Center has so many great performances throughout the year. I know for a fact that we will be back for Nochebuena next year but I am very interested in the upcoming season as they have a variety of concerts and genres. Parking is fairly easy and I love that all you have to do is register your license plate the day before. All in all, it was a great experience and I will be back!

First time to Musco and definitely not the last. The band: Los Lobos. The opening band: an Australian blues band, Teskey Brothers. I was actually more satisfied with the sound coming out of the opening band. It was clear and not too loud. When Los Lobos came on, the sound was blaring. It was almost like travelling back to my teen days when all the music I listened to had to be on full blast. I was not impressed, regrettably. Taking one star off for this mishap. Hopefully the sound engineers do a better job next time around. There should be a team of sound crew to critique the concert and adjust sound quality to perfection. The seats are at a slight grade; therefore, the row in front of us is partially blocking our view, not too badly though. I was able to live with that. Location: Chapman University, walking distance from Old Towne Orange. Perfect walking distance to a number of restaurants. Definitely make a field day out of this visit if you are driving a long distance. So many things to do in Old Towne like vintage shopping and grabbing a meal or snack!

    Muscochella!

A few weekends ago, I was invited by my friends who are Chapman Alumni, to attend Muscochella. Muscochella is an outdoor music festival held at Chapman University outside the Musco Center for the Arts. They featured new and undiscovered artists. The bands and vocalists were amazing. It was an all day event that started in the afternoon and went well into the evening. It was a really cool way to spend the afternoon. The event was free and I parked for free nearby. There were some beverage stands offering free drinks and plenty of food options nearby in Orange. I ate at a food truck and ended up getting dessert with my friends at the Pie Hole down the street. The music festival is put on my Chapman University's radio station and is a great way to check out new artists. The music was great and it was great to hang out. I can't wait to check it out next year.

Interior from mezzanine right, set of "Suor Angelica " , opera by Puccini

I came to watch a performance of two one-act Puccini operas: Suor Angelica ( or Sister Angelica) and Gianni Schicchi (a comedy) as performed by Chapman student ensembles - opera and orchestra. Bravo! Bravo! to the ensemble tonight. Such genuine talent for such young artists. Super titles in English allow fuller enjoyment (as I speak no Italian). Beautiful venue, with very roomy seating , very good view of the stage from mezzanine and orchestra, including boxes. Most seats are unobstructed by anything other than maybe a very tall patron's head. Also comfortable temperature-wise, although I did wear a light sweater. No food allowed inside during performances , but there are concession stands open before the start of the opera and during the intermissions. Stairs and elevator access available. Bathrooms are located to the left side of the building on all three floors. Outdoors is also very open, with a lovely green plaza, numerous benches adn itneresting sculptural pieces along the walk. Come support the arts! See more at: http://muscocenter.org/events/

    Very nice theater.

This venue is stunningly beautiful, luxurious, and immaculate! Where do I start?! The seating was comfortable and you had a great view of the stage no matter where you sit in the venue. No obstructed views. I was invited to attend The Chinese Warriors of Peking because the venue donated tickets to a Veteran organization (VetTix) and I'm glad because it was my first time at this gem of a venue. I'm already anticipating the next event I will be attending. The venue is newer, clean, modern, and has a touch of luxurious feeling without the high price tags. I purchased tickets for another event at the venue and most all their tickets were very reasonably priced. I was astonished that even the restrooms were nice and had that luxurious feel to them. All the staff was very attentive and friendly. Sound in the venue was perfectly crisp. I did see the staff inside the venue inform a few people to not take pics of video of the performance and they were very strict enforcing those rules. I would highly recommend this venue and will be returning quite frequently!! Cons: The nearest parking structure is a bit of a walk from the venue. For the event I attended, there was no photography allowed which was displayed on signage at every entrance and it was strictly enforced.

    Mezzanine Row 2D, Seat 1

Absolutely breathtaking. The interior is state of the art and looks brand new. The seats are very comfortable and each seat (even the mezzanine and balcony sections) has back and seat cushions. The seat space isn't too small that you would feel cramped watching a 4 hour show. There isn't a bad seat in the house. Mine was located in the Mezzanine section, Row 2D, Seat 1, which is the far back last row. I saw the show I went to just fine. Some seats may indicate that the view is "obstructed" and offered at a discount, but if you look at my picture, the obstructing object is just a lattice barrier that is fairly short. It's also not directly in your view, but at the corner of your peripheral. So if you want to save a few bucks, go for those seats. The outside of the center is also an architectural masterpiece with a bright green grass field with headstones of the various donors of the project. This is a great photo op if you arrive early to your show and the sun is still out. I have been to a few auditoriums to watch plays (old globe, segerstrom, la jolla playhouse, etc) and this one is ranked up there with those. I'll surely come back when they have a show I'm interested in watching.

The OC is the best place to live and small community based artsy venues with great talent bring entertainment to your footstep. A small forum with great talent really places every seat in the house as a good one. Chapman's Waltmar Theatre is vibrant and blossoming with talent. The theatre is a great option for localites to see shows, musicals and more. Yes, it is open to the public for shows. I have had nothing but positive experiences here. A few years back I even had the pleasure of seeing, in person, Supreme Justice Scalia. Overall, this is a great piece of Orange for locals to experience up and coming talent. It is a value and you can get to see great shows for reasonable prices. You can check their website for current shows, times, and prices. I am a fan! This is my second time visiting the Waltmar Theater…read more I do love visiting college shows. In my own biased and ignorant world, I think college theatre offers more "art" than the professional world. Don't get me wrong - I love the big shows in the big theaters, too -- but it's like watching an indie film -- it's just very very good in a very very different way. The Chapman University Theatre Arts does not disappoint. The last show I saw was "The Taming of the Shrew". It was very well done with superb acting and we very much enjoyed the show. I also saw "Urinetown" on Thursday and I was equally, if not more, impressed. The quality of work that happens in this theater is absolutely spectacular. Every season bring something interesting and unique - and I wait in anticipation every year to see what Chapman has in store for myself and for my students. Parking under the football field is probably your best bet. A three-hour temporary parking permit is $3.00 and can be obtained from one of those parking permit machines using cash or credit card. Then, it's a quick 3-minute walk to the Waltmar theater. I strongly urge your attendance at this theater. There's some unbelievable quality-work that's going on here.

Everyone but drunks will love Circus Vargas…read more They don't serve beer, and there were NO animals, which is okay considering a) the animals usually seem depressed, beaten, or sick; and b) there was considerably less animal feces smell. Basically it was all Stupid Human Tricks. Half of it was the kind of stuff you'd see on the Venice Boardwalk, but here you didn't have to avoid eye contact or run away when the collection bucket came around. The acrobatics in the sky weren't too amazing for adults (basic stuff, especially considering what the kind of flips I myself can do in Tekken 3), but the surprise twist on the classic motorcycle ball was exciting, and the gymnastic work showed so much stamina and strength (both in solo artists and the group of pirates who became a reverse human pyramid) it made you think "Whoa, I could never do that!" and "Ouch!" The guy balancing things on his chin was pretty cool, and the most thrilling was the guy in the rotating hamster wheel thing. He ate his babies, too, which was weird. (not really) I think the most applause went to the Asian dude who looked like the guy who electrocutes Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon I. He did this crazy spinning clickety-clacky percussion thing with highspeed clacker balls, and was inches away from being a featured Americas Funniest Home Nutcracks. Thankfully there weren't a bunch of annoying clowns- just one, a silent one with a whistle, who did a few acts with audience participation. His acts were crowd-pleasing. And by crowd pleasing I mean there were no bony elephants coughing on us. By the way, Bony Elephants Coughing are playing Coachella 2017. Anyway, nothing was really lame, although the six bulging (in more ways than one) pirates made me uncomfortable because they chased one girl around making me think, "University of Virginia: the Musical". I thought the production values were pretty cool, particularly the Candyman in Glasses ringmaster who retreated to a Sheila E type percussion module, technically never leaving stage. For the price of a 3D movie, I think it's a really good value, and you don't need the glasses. A bonus was the chance to pose with a big boa snake at intermission for $10 (you buy one AND you can take your own). Or for $5 you can pose with me- basically the same thing.

Overall thought it was good for the price. My kids had a good time. I liked that there weren't any…read moreanimals at the show. I also thought all of the stuff they did was pretty impressive. We got our tickets through Groupon.

It was definitely a lot harder to see if you're seated too high up compared to Toyota Arena. The rink got colder as the show went on, so definitely bring a jacket. My kids didn't enjoy this show as much as the Frozen and Encanto one we saw last year. This show had very little special effects and more "couple" dances, but they all looked very similar after you see the first one or two. We did enjoy the cars performance because it was a little different, and then moana's act at the end. My daughter's favorite princesses are Elsa and Ariel, but Ariel never appeared for this show. There were 2 songs from Frozen 2 though! Even so, we had a nice afternoon here with the family.

Great for younger kids with shorter attention span, say pre-schooler and elementary kids. Personally, for me as an adult, it's not something I would watch on my own or if I'm going to attend with just fellow adult friends. The show feels a bit amateur and all over the place. I prefer performances with a better plot and theme that strongly ties in together. It's as if this show is put on for the sake of trying to lump in all Disney characters into one show however possible. But little kids like it and that's all that matters. Sacrifices of parenthood. The venue is "okay". Food is super expensive ($20 for 2 slices of pizza) and not even that good. No outside food allows whatsoever and you can't bring bags bigger than 8x5 or something small like that (they tell you on the website). Parking is $20.
