After giving our nanny a very flexible schedule and generous leave policy (during her two months at work she had four weeks off) she abruptly quit citing homesickness. Our contract specified that suitable replacement nannies would be offered in this instance. However, this was not the case. The school only provided one person to interview and she had no experience and was clearly not motivated. Mr. Gaylord, despite repeated calls, refused to provide more candidates in a timely fashion and would not consider refunding our placement fee. When we brought up our dissatisfaction rather than trying to find a solution he became rude and threatening. Upon more investigation we found out that the school is overselling their program. The internships the school gives its students turned out to typically be situations where they spent a few hours a week assisting a mother, but never in charge of supervising children. If you hire a nanny from them it is very likely they will be getting their first experience as a nanny with your children. The training, quality of candidates and customer service is not up to the rates they charge. As other reviewers have pointed out they have also been found at fault in a lawsuit for trying to coerce a nanny into potentially covering up a sexual misconduct case. Beware of you use this company!

If taking classes isn't your thing, you can browse the shop for gifts by local artists or attend the yearly art fair, Art by the Falls that Valley Art Center sponsors. Or shop the gallery for works by local artists. It's a wonderful way to decorate your walls with truly unique works. Why grab a mass print at a chain store when you can buy one of a kind? And if you don't see something just right on your first visit, come back. The art in the galleries and shop changes regularly. My daughter came away with a healthy amount of knowledge and life skills for a job in childcare and home management. The schools promise for placement leaves something to be desired. My daughter has interviewed with multiple nanny agencies on her own in pursuit of placement. The problem seems to lie with the folks who manage the school financially, not the actual educators or students. Unfortunately, the tarnished reputation of the school is likely going to affect those same educators and graduated nannies.
