I have taken at least four different pairs of shoes here to be made into dance shoes and each time they come out flawless! The first pair was a pair of tennis shoes, Chagrin Shoe Repair added suede to the bottom. I have been using them consistently for over a year and the suede has not moved! I purchased a vintage rattan handbag that I loved hoping to have the leather parts repaired. The leather handles were dry rotted and the leather buckle had definitely seen better days. The bag had to be completely disassembled and the handles re-wrapped in leather. When I picked my bag up from Chagrin Leather it looked like brand new! Awful experience here! I did so much research and picked this place because it had pretty good reviews overall. There were maybe only a couple of have bad reviews. And my experience matched the bad reviews. I brought in a pair of suede boots to have a full zipper put in. On the phone the guy said no problem. In person he also said it was a simple job. Paid $97, waited 2 weeks, and this is the garbage I received. It's worse than if a beginner did it. Honestly, if this is the work they do, I don't know how they're still in business. The fact that he gave me these boots back with a straight face is hilarious. On top of that, the guy was so rude. When I complained that the cut of the suede was rough/uneven, the zipper was puckered, and the stitching was off he replied, "listen, we're not factory." He said this is what happens when you cut suede. No it absolutely is not! Are you using a dull, rusty butter knife? Judge for yourself when you see the pictures of my ruined boots. It was so bad that I disputed the charge with my bank, backed up the claim with pictures, and they actually refunded me my money. At least there's that. But RIP to my boots :( read more

One of the pair were Valentino about 1200 possibly even more the second pair is a pair of red bottoms, probably around the same price range . He totally change the color of them. All he was supposed to do was clean them just like a polish you know I like to maintain I could not believe when I came to pick them up and this is what my shoes look like on top of that to get told that is what color they were, I thought it was a prank. Then his employee said I told him that was not the same color when I came back after he was telling me he was going to fix them when I came back and of course the shoe was ruined. There's nothing that you could do to get that totally off, it will never look the same again. The employee then changed his story which I'm not surprised. I also was told that "women don't act like that" mind you yes, I was upset Morceau because I was getting told that that is how I bring the shoes in and that was the same color when it's a heaviest even when he strip the one shoe you can see the difference in the shoe color but even when you take off what he put on the shoe had no shine it it look like when you try to takeoff nail polish but don't take it off all the way it was horrible I could not understand how someone change the color of the shoes and then act like they did not and when I am upset mind you I am not throwing anything I am upset that's a easy $2000 with no explanation mind you the amount of shoes that I did drop off was about $200 in service. He didn't take one dollar off not that that would have even equal up to how sad I was but just to make a large appoint I still pay the bill, and then for a male to say, women do not act like that was beyond me I could not believe it that one I'm upset and you're not bringing any type of helpful remarks or closure or anything about what we should do about this and I still paid, and the only thing I can hear about is how women don't act like that. I wanted to cry I had my sons basketball friend as I was walking out I was in tears and ran into one of my clients and my clients could not believe what the shoes look like and even try to talk to the man because he has been using him for a long time and was like you should really do something about it he said I would never women don't act like that I said I was gonna put a review he said he didn't care. I said I was in contact my attorney which I did by the time I would have paid retainer fee and have to go through this whole process at the time my mother was sick, I live all the way in Middleburg Heights. It was just a lot. Wow, whoever is on the front counter at this place, what an ass!! First I walk in on an argument between what looks like the owner and this new guy(?). And the owner is spouting how they don't see eye to eye. Ok, I'll ignore that. But then it gets weirder, I'm told to write my own info, (which doesn't really matter to me albeit it's strange... still, no care and with an attitude). Then he asks for a $20 deposit? Huh?! I can understand a deposit for a large repair cost but first, I've never had to leave one, second, I confirmed the repair is only $20, which it is, but he wants a $20 deposit?! When it's only $20?!! He then proceeds after I question it, to try and justify the deposit by pointing to a sign stating deposits may be necessary. So a deposit of $20 for a $20 repair is necessary? And he insisted more than once and again tried to justify it with more bullshit. "Oh we take credit card!" Again, I can clearly understand if it's over a certain amount but a $20 "deposit" for a $20 repair. That's what gets me. Having brought something like 10 different repairs between my wife and I here, and referred many, I thought better of this place. Not anymore. Customer service is key, this place could give two shits or maybe it's just the new guy. Don't know but the owner did nothing and let me walk out, so...that speaks volumes to me. No thanks. They're great. I brought them satin shoes that I had try to dye black myself, but they turned out a greenish brown when I did it. They quoted me $35 to dye over them black. They ended not being able to do that. They had to completely strip my bad dye job before re-dying them, and they still only charged me the original $35 quote. Now the shoes look great. read more

Service Quality: I had two pair of boots (one pair needing replacement caps and the other pair needing the heel to be cut and capped). They provided me an explanation of the process and had me out the door in less than 30 minutes with two pair of beautifully repaired boots. With sadness I write this review because I So wanted this to be my go-to shoe and leather repair place. It's convenient to where I live and next to Whole Foods, but one can't fit a square peg in a round hole. This place has lost its way. The quality of the work was just so-so ( sloppy and lacking details and care) BUT what overshadowed this was the horrific customer service. I had brought in some expensive boots to have the heel repaired right before I went out of town for two weeks. When I returned to pick them up in between a busy life, kids, work, travel etc I had (god forbid) misplaced their little blue pick up ticket. This is where everything went downhill. The owner seemed ok with it but the worker (a man in his 50's) became unglued. He started berating me about how this will now take him " forever to find my boots and how irresponsible I was and how I should have done a better job keeping track of my little blue ticket etc etc" this went on for a while. I explained that I was sorry and would help give description to assist him find them. The fumes in the shoe shop were quite strong so I calmly gave him a description of the boots and my number and told him to take his time and to call me when he found them. About 3 minutes later he calls me screaming at me again that he found the shoes and continued on about what a dire mistake this was to misplace the little blue ticket. It was like I had killed his cat or something. The owner was telling him to stop but the man kept going. I quickly ran in to get my shoes and pay. There was another customer in front of me. The man started with " see, this customer kept his ticket. He's the good one unlike you" I was so shocked and speechless I wanted no small talk with the owner and he tried to deflect from his employees behavior. I just told him I wanted to pay and would never be coming back. The owner should have fired him on the spot for treating a customer this way and yet he just stood there like an innocent bystander. I was disgusted. This didn't need to be, but the owner chose this. customer service can make or break a business and this one is going downhill quick. I will NEVER go back. read more

I took 2 pairs of boots to be re-heeled, and one of the pairs needed some stitch work done. My boots turned out fantastic, he even cleaned and polished them so they look as new as 6 year old boots that have been worn through Cleveland winters can look. I have been taking my heels and boots here for heel tap replacement and clean-ups for the past couple of years. They do a fantastic job and my well-worn shoes come back to me looking practically brand new! I am so happy to be able to extend the life-span of my favorite shoes! The last batch of four pairs took about 2 weeks to complete, which I found to be reasonable given the work that was needed. In the past, they have been able to turn around a faster repair on a single pair that I needed for a trip in a couple of days. They are very pleasant to work with and I am planning to bring in a duffel bag with a broken zipper with the next batch of shoes to see if they can fix that also. I had a Louie Vuitton Speedy that needed a zipper replaced and had worn out edges. I brought it to the LV store in Beachwood. They said it could not be repaired. So I took my bag here. Within a week he had repaired my bag. It looks almost like new. You can't even tell it has a replacement zipper. The worn out edges you can only slightly tell if you come up close and examine it. The price as great. It was less than $150 to repair, whereas a replacement bag would've cost me $1000. I'll be sure to bring my other things here to get fixed and conditioned. read more

My family and I have been a customer for years. It wasn't until my most recent experience that I decided it would be worth sharing with others. I took my black Botkier handbag ($800 new) there to have it polished, since it was becoming dull. The owner took care of me and said that refinishing it would be better than polishing it, to avoid any black rubbing off on my clothes. I agreed and paid him the $75 to have the work done. The first time I wore the bag after having it refinished, the black dye rubbed off on my brand new white shirt, so I was really disappointed. To make it worse, I brought the bag in and he acted like he never saw it before. I asked him to please spray it again to avoid staining any of my clothing in the future. I showed him the stained shirt and asked him who was going to pay for the shirt if the stain didn't come out? He answered with a sarcastic remark, "I don't know, who?", said the purse would be ready in a week. He also said next time he wouldn't do any refinishing for me because he doesn't need the HEADACHES. No apology or anything! I was only looking for an apology and to have it fixed correctly. I didn't need his attitude. Well, sorry for the headache sir, but you just lost a customer. Thanks for being a man and owning up to your own mistakes. Chagrin Shoe and Leather saved two pairs of shoes, and from now on I'm bringing every single pair that needs work. I had a nice pair of heels that had a chunk of leather almost torn off. It cost only $12 to fix the heel and I can't even tell that it was ever broken. More recently, I brought in a pair of gold loafers that were over 5 years old. The sole was cracked and a lot of the gold had worn off. Alex replaced the soles and re-dyed the leather, and these shoes look like new!
