The first time I took shoes to Ginos, they were done on time and cost only $10 for two. I was very pleased at the repair he was able to do and was excited to go back if I ever needed something in the future. Fast forward a couple of months - I had a purse that I dropped off and he said it would be done in a week. I come in and he said it wasn't done and to stop by in a couple of days. Due to their hours, I wait an entire week. I go to pick it up and he says he can't fix it because he doesn't have the part and asks if I want to wait longer. He has my phone number so I'm not sure why I wasn't told two weeks ago that he can't fix my stuff. It would have been fine and I could have gone elsewhere. Just disappointed that he had multiple opportunities to let me know of the limitations and instead wasted my time. 3 stars because he did fix my shoes but deducting for the two weeks spent doing nothing. read more

For someone like me with ginormous feet, it's extremely difficult to find shoes that are nice and that fit me well. So I've got to do all I can to keep the ones I have in good shape. Enter Gino's Shoe Repair in Kamm's Corners. It's awesome that these kinds of little shops still exist. Gino has to be one of the cutest little old guys ever. Super nice and polite. He'll give you the straight answer about what he thinks can or can't be done with your repair. I brought a couple of pairs of dress shoes in for him to look at. Pumps for work just needed new heels - no problem. The other was a pair of heeled strappy things that I love but had a run in with a cobblestone and suffered a heel injury. He said he wasn't sure he could do much but he'd try to smooth it out. Both pairs turned out great! New rubber heels on the work shoes and the heels, while not completely good as new, you'd never notice without a close look. All this for only $10.75! That is a complete steal especially with what you have to pay for new shoes these days. I'm relatively sure he repairs most leather goods as well, purses, bags, belts, etc. Take your stuff here and have Gino take a look, odds are he'll be able to get you sorted out for a great price. Exasperating is the word that comes to mind to describe my experience so far. I dropped off a pair of Allen Edmond dress shoes for a small repair (stitch the toe cap)over 60 days ago. To be fair Gino informed me he would be on vacation the month of December. When I arrived on the date that was promised (January 11th) he not only did not have the work done but could not even find my shoes. Gino asked for another week which I said was no problem. I tried to call before driving back a week later ... he literally never once answered his phone. I waited two weeks and then stopped in on January 31st. Of course the work has still not been done as I write this review. What's most annoying is Gino's complete indifference. I will report back when (if) the work is ever done. read more

This is as old-fashioned a family-run shoe shop as you could ever want. The shop smells like leather and polish, and there are piles and piles of shoes and bags waiting for repair everywhere. And Gino is just about the nicest man ever. I dropped off two pairs of boots for Gino to repair, and he did a smashing job, repairing a split seam in one pair, replacing the zipper in the other, and then cleaning and polishing them, all for the very low price of $15. Really, I don't think the prices could be any lower for the work that he did. It did take a long time for the repair to get done (I think there was a family emergency one week, and then he didn't have the zipper in house so had to order it). I would advise you to call ahead to find out whether he's finished. read more

I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for shoe repair. They add velcro straps to my husband's right shoe as he is handicapped and cannot tie his shoes. They do an amazing job for us and their work is highest quality at a VERY reasonable price. In my opinion, they are the best shoe repair shop in this area. As for other reviews on this company, for me, I don't care how they look or how the store looks as long as I get the quality work and service they provide. I've read up on a lot of shoe repair places and was very picky in choosing where to get my two pair of boots fixed. Both needed a new rubber thing under the heels and a zipper replacement on one of them. I was afraid of two things: being overcharged and them loosing my stuff. This place is a very old-school type that likely wont be around much longer as Gino is pretty old. He's a very sweet man who is the only one that runs the shop. His service was prompt (and you can call him to make sure it's ready before coming if he might be running late) and I thought I was going to pay way more than $25 to get it all fixed! I wouldn't go anywhere else. These shoe cobbler places - it's a dying skill. So I'm glad to have had gino's service! read more

It's 2012. In an era of disposable junk shoes made by overseas sweatshops, how does a place like this even still exist?! I don't know, but if you happen to own any *quality* footwear that needs a little attention, Gino is a godsend. He's a sweet Italian grandfather who seems to have escaped the passage of time for about the last 50 years or so, at least. He does excellent work and very cheaply, though not very fast. He is a true craftsman and I will be sad when the inevitable happens one day and his little shop closes down. read more

I was visiting family in Cleveland and broke a heel the day before my sister's wedding. Everyone said I had to take it to Gino, so I did. I could not have been more surprised at how wonderful he treated me. He knew it was an emergency and fixed my shoe within the hour and for barely nothing. Best repair job I've gotten. Super nice. $14 to repair badly worn, and neglected boot heels. Did take a few weeks. Totally worth it. I gave him two $10 stuck together. Gino called my cell as I was getting in my car to drive away so he could return the extra $10. read more

I used to get my shoes fixed by the best cobbler in North America. He lives in Akron, Ohio and won competitions (yes, they have those for cobblers). So, I'm a bit spoiled when it comes to shoe repair. That said, I think Gino's is the best I've found in the Cleveland area (with extremely reasonable prices). And Gino is super-nice and polite. I had a problem with a pair of hiking boots and handed them over to Gino. He told me they'd be ready in a month. I returned a month later and he could not find my boots and told me to call back in a few hours. I left for a few hours and called back to ask if he'd found them. He told me he had them but could not repair them. I waited a month for shoes that he could not find until a few hours later and hadn't repaired since i handed them over. It was actually a very simple problem, and i think that if he could not repair them he would have called me at least two weeks after i handed them over. So what do i think really happened? I think he simply forgot about me, or rather, my boots. I think that he forgot about them for the whole month, and, upon realizing so, he told me he couldn't repair them to avoid having to admit that he'd forgotten them. I would have much preferred honesty. I even would have waited for him to have a second chance. Needless to say, i'm not happy about it. I'm actually considering calling him to ask if my theory of what happened is correct. If he indulges me with honesty i'll even send my boots back and give him another chance. Might even update this review if things work out. read more

I feel bad writing a negative review as Gino is an older gentleman, but we were told shoes were to be done in late November. After going in three times after the expected due date, we ended up sitting there at the store waiting for him to finish the shoes. He didn't apologize and when we tried calling for updates, no one picked up the phone. The work is good, but be prepared to wait a lot longer then what he promises. read more
