Gasoline / oil aren't the only things going up these days, the wonderful, high pitched voice inducing wonders of helium are at all time low. The shortage is resulting a premium price tag on all things helium related. Virtually every place I was looking into was charging an arm and a leg, except for Balloon Place in Brooklyn. Their prices have gone up slowly over the years, but considering the shortage premiums, they're reasonable here. Delivery & pick up (for an extra $50 in the tri-state) is almost a guarantee, unless you have super human strength to lug into a subway or a vehicle large enough to fit what feels like a small missile with a rubber valve. They're pretty good about answering emails, but I think calling in is the way to go. Don't be afraid to ask for an electronic receipt and know that weekend usage means they deliver on Friday and pick up on Monday. Be sure to ask for Mandy, she'll take care of everything for you. Lastly, don't inhale helium for that ridiculous chipmunk effect. It causes oxygen deficiency, which could lead to brain issues. Getting kicked in the gonads will give you the same temporary high pitched voice, only you'll be moaning on the ground too long to notice.
