In theory the food appears to be good but it's consistently poorly executed. Stayed at the resort…read moreand ate three meals here. All were ROUGH. Overcooked and dry, bad texture, unrefined flavour. Also the prices! ‍ 18$ for a slice of cheesecake?! Yikes. Sadly if you're in the resort you don't have much option. Just don't get your hopes up.

Unfortunately the food is overpriced and really not good for what it is. A real shame since it's such a beautiful place with great atmosphere and a view that would make any restaurant owner jealous. The menu is simple with limited bistro choices, you'll find one pizza dish, one pasta, a burger, a couple tartare options, cornish hen, fish and chips and a steak along with a few appetizer and desert options. I opted for the soup of the day which is a butternut squash, it was creamy and velvety, very tasty. When my main meal of fish and chips arrived, the fish was dry, the batter was flavorless and too crispy. The fries are not seasoned and also dry. The dish is served with a side of very small shrimp that just taste like dill and the ocean. It was barely edible. This 28$ dish went straight to the garbage, I had to inform the staff and thank goodness they took it off my bill. My boyfriend ordered the nachos (19$) and burger (19$) which were a better option but once again the burger patty was extremely dry and not seasoned. The food is so bland and ridiculously expensive, I can't imagine anyone eating here if they weren't staying at the hotel. I'm sure this restaurant is a nice place for simple appetizers or drinks but if you plan on staying over, do yourself a favor and just bring your own food. All suites have a microwave, mini oven, and some rooms even have a stove top so you can make something a lot tastier. I really wanted to like this place as I love everything else about my stay however it's a simple money grab. Stay away.

I am surprised this restaurant gets bad review like this...Yes this might not be the best…read morerestaurant you've ever been to, but went there with my family and actually enjoyed it. The only comment I have is to go there earlier so you can sit by the window and enjoy the nice view from sunset to the night. I have to say food is good but not wonderful, however we didn't complain about it and as an Asian, we are harsh on food. :P The price point is not friendly, but hey, if you are going there for vacation, just enjoy the time there.

I don't know why this restaurant gets such poor reviews on Google... Maybe they've got the wrong…read morerestaurant!! The decor is stylish with turquoise and walnut themed tables and chairs. I'm sure it's lovely during the daytime when you can see the lake in front of the restaurant. The layout is great because they have square tables for two set on an angle in front of the windows overlooking the lake so that people can sit beside each other instead of opposite to each other. The restaurant concept is steaks and seafood cooked on heated stones. The grills are from the company called Black Rock Grill, hence the restaurant name, Rok. We arrived for the time of our reservation and we're promptly seated and our waitress came over right away to ask us what we wanted something to drink and brought over the drink menu. I ordered a virgin mojito and it has all the ingredients but has more lime juice in it. Right after we ordered she brought over for mini warm ciabatta buns with butter. These are so good, it's tempting to eat a bunch. They will bring you more if you ask for it. Our appetizers came shortly after. The smoked duck Caesar salad was light and packed with flavour! The crab cake was quite rich and fairly filling. The outside was crispy and there was a generous slather of mayonnaise to accompany it. I kinda regretted ordering something so filling cause I was already getting full even before the mains came out. My favourite part of the meal was having the steak sizzling on the hot stone. The servers recommended to us to remove the steak from the stone and place it on the plate beside to avoid overcooking the steak. They equip you with a sharp steak knife so when you're ready, just cut thin slices of meat and sear it on the hot stone before eating. I chose the ostrich meat as a special treat and it was well seasoned and didn't need extra seasoning or sauce. The ostrich meat tasted a bit like a blend of beef and duck and was very tender despite me cooking them completely. The Manhattan steak had a little bit of tendons/fat which needed to be cut out and it lacked flavour. Each meat came with a red wine dipping sauce. To my delight, the roasted veggies were served in that tiny cast iron skillet! A side of creamy mashed potatoes was served piped in a hollowed-out potato. Since it was my birthday they brought two pieces of chocolate brownies with a large sparkler to my table. I ordered the tonka bean creme brulee and it was really nice. The Sortilege cut the sweetness a little bit but I found that it gave a slightly bitter taste. The pineapple cheesecake was a crustless whipped cheesecake with passion fruit sorbet and pineapple on the inside. It's a very delicate dessert, only lightly sweetened and refreshing. We tried to finish the brownies but by then we had way too much food! Overall a fantastic, satisfying experience and I would go back again anytime when I'm staying at the Esterel resort!

The way the dining room is laid out allows…read morecouples to just focus on each other and the view, which I image is spectacular in the summer overlooking the lake. It feels like there's no one else around. The waiter explained the 5-course menu for only $68 per person and it seemed like a pretty good deal so we went for it! We're happy we did! The wine list is like a phone book, it's so extensive cause of their world class wine cellar. Our server said she could recommend according to the guest's budget. The menu is changed semi annually to use the best ingredients for each season. Menus go from December to June, then July to November. This is because they cater to a number of regulars so they change it up to keep things exciting. In this menu, the chef employed a fair bit of radish slices and yuzu into the dishes. We started off with a creative snack of sorts aka Amuse-Bouche. I believe it was fried lotus root chip. The mini chiabata bread is cute, warm and yummy with whipped butter. My boo liked it so much, he asked for three more to which they willingly obliged. Then we had the delicious, warm and creamy green pea soup. The bits of Gaspor bacon punctuated the velouté with savory pockets of flavor. It's a must try! We had the Salade du Bistro which contained a lot of bitters. However, it was unique in that it had the balsamic and yuzu pearls to lighten the flavor. I found the flavors intriguing. The tuna tataki was crusted with paprika and sprinkled with coarse salt. I found it was maybe abased a bit with the humble edamame and yuzu mayo. Overall, simple and tasty but I'm not sure I tasted truffle oil. The beet salad is a must have!! This was my favorite appetizer! The flavors were so bright and light with the acidity from the yuzu yet savory with the whipped herbed feta. So good. Then for the mains, we had halibut in lobster broth. The surprise was the balled butternut squash that was bursting with flavor. I found the fish with its crispy crust a touch dry but still good. However, the duck breast was pause-and-have-a-moment good. I loved the crisped up duck skin with the goat cheese sauce (could've used some more) and juicy wilted greens. The mashed sweet potatoes were excellent with the mini zucchini and I'm always a fan of crispy fried sage. For dessert, we had the coconut panna cotta which I found rather plain tasting were it not for the punch from the passion fruit sorbet of which it needed a bit more to go with the whole bowl. The profiterole was good and I liked the chocolate crust. Lovely restaurant and I definitely plan to go back again in the summer and enjoy the lakeside view and delicious dishes made from locally sourced, seasonal ingredients.
