We have not been here in years, we were impressed with the plush seating, and the fantastic $10 ticket price for a 6:45pm movie. We are not must go to the movie people, but now that this theater has been updated and the $10 ticket price we might be going to more movies. No more driving to other theaters is needed for Springfield folks. My only complaint was it was a bit chilly, I'll bring a blanket next time. read more

Love how this cinema isn't too far from the abandon drive in lmao!!! Place was clean, restroom was clean also! Everyone was super nice and got our tickets and food in under 15 mins! I was shocked and happy! I'm not from Springfield but had a great time and the seats are comfy!!! read more

Not a bad movie theater. I like the fact that they have both Veteran's and Seniors discounts as I qualify for both. Am I expecting to much to want both discounts that I qualify for. Same question regarding every other place of business in the U S A. I FIRMLY believe I should recieve discounts above and beyond that of any non senior non veteran customer. I most recently saw the latest Indiana Jones there. The picture was fine, as well as the sound. The reclining chairs were very comfortable, so much so that I fell asleep and missed the first 10 minutes of the movie, or was it that the movie started out slow and put me to sleep? We got a combo that included a large popcorn and 2 large fountain drinks. The theater was clean and kept at a reasonable and comfortable temperature. The young man that waited on us both sold us our tickets and served us our snacks. He was nice enough to give us a small courtesy cup for my little niece. I'm sure I'll see a couple more movies before I head out on the next leg of my anual cross country road trip I do recommend this theater. What seperates this theater from 5 stars is that it has followed suite with the majority of theaters that no longer screen two to three movies for the same price. I remember going to the State or Regency Theaters as a kid in the 60's when you could watch a couple of movies and a cartoon for almost nothing. read more

Updated seats, suuuuuuuuuper plush, and multiple times for all the latest/greatest flicks. Such a huge improvement, and now, since it's the only theatre in town, a GREAT choice if you don't feel like schlepping over 20-30 minutes away to an out of town multi-plex. Still has a small, hometown feel, but definitely no reason to pass this place up if you're here in the Springfield area and want to catch a movie. Tuesday's a bargain day, and better matinee pricing's a plus!! Check it out... Now, if they only offered some more non-blockbuster, smaller market/lesser known independents, and something more than the usual overpriced popcorn/candy food choices, they'd earn that fifth star from me... On the road, I wanted to see a movie, and this place fit my space and time requirements. I pulled up, and almost drove away because I saw that it was a pretty old theater. But, again, space and time, and hey, I was here. Service was great at the ticket counter and the concession stand. The building is fairly clean in general (the bathrooms could use work, and the theater floor was sticky.) Essentially this is the movie experience from 20-30 years ago, when multiplexes first got popular. Average seats, small screens, no cup holder, etc. But, the sound and picture quality were good, and I enjoyed the movie. Plus, $6.50! I don't think a matinee is even that cheap in other cities. (I went at 5 on a Friday; not sure if that is full price or not.) So, an okay place, but not my first choice to see another movie. I'd give it two stars if it weren't for the price. I wonder if there are any better theaters in town; I would head to Dayton or Columbus for a newer theater. read more

Wow! What a beautiful upgrade from the previous owners! Not certain why the Chakeres family wasn't able to ever get this theater to a more up to date state other than I'm certain it cost quite a lot, and no disrespect intended, but it's wonderful now and well worth taking my family to the movies again. We've been to several theaters and this one is the one I'd choose over the others we've gone to in Dayton area. The reclining leather chairs ( probably not real leather!) are roomy and quite comfortable. It's a " pick a seat" prior to going in which I've noticed the last few times we've gone is confusing to people but not a deterrent to getting a good seat. All of the seats are equally good. Even reclined completely people can maneuver past to get into a seat on either side. Plenty of room, plenty of comfort and a great experience! The only complaint I personally have is we usually do buy popcorn and it's always too salty. I like salt but it's beyond too much ! I just need to find out next time if they're adding it and if they can not to ours! Please Spfld try to keep this as nice as it is now! It's hopefully maintained and my family will definitely continue to choose this theater over any other! read more

This movie theater is far better than what it was 3-4 years ago, there are freestyle fountain drinks, decent food, and a good selection of snacks, the theater is always clean and the seats recline, the bathrooms are pretty good too. read more

This movie theater was amazing except for the fact that they ended the credits early on a marvel movie. I had been waiting forever for the release of Avengers: Endgame, and I went to watch the midnight showing with my friend. The reclining seats were awesome and the atmosphere was amazing. Obviously at the end of the movie no one in the theater moved, because obviously there was going to be a sneak peak after the credits. However, it was clear the staff was annoyed, because they wanted to clean the theater, so they shut the credits off. I'm not even sure if thats even allowed. read more

This was the last Chakeres Theater in Springfield, Ohio. They sold it to UEC Theaters in September, 2018. The new owners immediately shut it down and quickly remodeled it with reclining seats replacing the old, worn out seats that were typical when the theater was built in 1990. I've not yet been to the remodeled theater and the last movie I attended here was "Avengers: Infinity War" which showed there in April, 2018. There have been so few "Must see" movies of late, that I'm surprised that any theaters can sustain themselves, no less keep up with technology. As Chakeres Theater, they had only recently upgraded to 3D and digital projection. I read all the complaints about the "Sticky Floors" and, well, DUH! No cupholders in those 1990's seats, eh? Chakeres closed their only other Springfield Theater, the Cinema 5 at Upper Valley Mall in February, 2017. I grew up in this area and I can safely say that most of the movies I've ever attended were at these two theaters or their (now closed) theater in Urbana, Ohio. My late wife and I took our family to see many movies here over the years and we didn't mind the sticky floors or the tatty seating, it was all we knew. In recent years we had to travel farther to see movies that missed the Chakeres theaters and we saw how other theater chains had "upped their game" with better amenities and had hoped that Chakeres would do the same. Samsung now has their Onyx line of LED theater screens. They introduced them in Bollywood, not Hollywood; think about that for a few minutes. The industry that supports the movie theater industry does not see their future in America, it sees its market elsewhere. Between the internet, Netflix, etc. we can expect the local movie theaters to decline and disappear. read more

A no frills movie theater in a nutshell. I've been coming here all my life and it's an ok movie theater. Usually quick to get in and get your snacks. Service is generally very friendly. My gripes though are the floors are sticky in basically every theater and they will probably never going to branch out into more high tech experiences like 3D. read more

The smaller theaters are like a shoe box, yes noticed the sticky floors too. Way back in the early 80's I worked in a movie theater, sticky floors are simply the result of patrons that can't control their drinks. I enjoy the smaller venue, but I do miss the big screens of my youth. The staff is young, but they try hard and I always enjoy visiting this theater. read more

PSA: floors are no longer sticky. I checked them all and my feet no longer stick to the floors. Bare in mind, they used to be, but no longer are. The walls do indeed have "something" on them, however I believe it's just sound equipment. Don't quote me on that though I'm no technician. Movie screen is too big. But I'm not a complainer. This is one of my favorite theaters around. It's definitely the best in the area and one that captures the mystique of "going to the movies". It's a classic theatre, better priced than most others, and offers a heck of a deal for matinee's & Tuesday's. It's a family owned, local & independent business and in these economic times they're the local hard-working businesses we need to support. The concession stand is a bigger rip off than usual and the chairs are sticky as well as the floors. And I don't know if anyone else noticed but the walls are covered in "something"... I don't think they have cleaned the theatre since it opened. My advice would be to save your money and get a redbox movie. read more

Pretty much the only two reasons I continue to go to Chakeres is that it is a 5 minute drive from my house and the matinee prices are cheap compared to other "area" cinemas. If we are planning ahead and have a little extra to splurge, my daughters and I make the 20-25 minute drive to Huber Heights/Rave Cinema. However for a quick decision to see a flick, this place will do. Yes, it has sticky floors. That doesn't bother me. It's the tiny screens that usually have at least one or two holes you can see. They've upgraded to 3-D in the past few years but they could afford to make a couple more upgrades if they want to stay competitive. However, they closed the mall location (Cinema 5) earlier this year so movie streaming and larger locations may be putting the squeeze on them. read more

Just had a good day at the movies. This is one of those good old theaters, you aren't packed like sardines and the chairs are fairly comfortable. Only subtracting a star because the nachos were $6. $5 nachos would have probably put them over. read more
