Gateway is a very cool movie experience. The staff seems genuinely glad to be there and the variety of films they show is unlike any other movie theatre in Columbus. I was surprised by how busy the theatre was on a weekday night. They have both a bar and a lounge/cafe, but only the bar was open during our visit. The seats are not the newer reclining kind, but the audio quality in the theatre was really good. Parking is available in the south campus gateway garage and the theatre validates for $2 parking.

As a theater fan, I absolutely love Gateway! Located eight between the university and the Short North, it's a cozy, clean location with decent concessions and a bar. I highly recommend catching their Tuesday $5 special with free popcorn! Parking in the lot next door can be validated inside.

What a cozy theater. This was my first time being here and I loved it. I love the fact that they have classic films that play here. If you ever go to see a movie, bring your ticket from the garage because they validate it. I will for sure be back to see many more movies. The sound was decent and the chairs were older, but still cozy.

Tonight we went to see a preview of the new movie coming out called "Blinded by the Night ". We all really enjoyed the story line and the lyrics from Bruce Springston music. Parking cost $2 if you park in the Gateway Garage and have your garage ticket stamped at the counter inside the theater. I don't think the chairs in the theater are very comfy because they don't recline and there's not a lot of leg room.

In the past I've avoided Gateway Film Center due to the lack of parking. However, thanks to the large abundance of scooters darting around Columbus, that stressor is long behind me and I'm happy to say I'll be visiting way more often. I recently came to see Aladdin and I was impressed with the experience from start to finish. It was easy to pull up the shows and times online and purchase tickets. Those tickets were then emailed to me and when I arrived at GFC all I did was walk up to the ticket office and show them my purchase. They then printed out real tickets for me to show the attendant. This is probably the only part that I found unnecessary. Go green! Can't I just show the attendant my email instead of wasting paper? Anyhoo... The theater my show was in was clean, the seats were comfy, and it was easy to get to the restroom. Thanks to the White Claws my friend and I enjoyed during the movie, we both went at least once. The sound and lighting throughout the entire show was also spot on. I never once heard a neighboring theater's sound, which is really important to me. I hate hearing other movies going on, it definitely impacts the experience. I also need to shout out the staff here. I grabbed drinks and popcorn before the movie and the gentleman handling my popcorn was an absolute pro! Popcorn - butter - popcorn - butter. His care in making it just right made my night. I love that GFC is locally owned and surrounded my all sorts of fun things to do. It's easy to make a night out of seeing a movie, grabbing dinner nearby, and enjoying live music outside on the weekends. I will be back!

This theatre is right by OSU campus so a lot of college students go there obviously. You would think it would be chaotic, messy or loud but it wasn't at all. There's street parking on High Street by the meter if you're lucky to get one & a garage in the back. You only have to pay $2 to park in the garage as long as you show your ticket at the counter. What I also found fascinating is the fact that this place had the benefits of being an independent house theatre as well as a large chain theatre. You really can't get that anywhere. The chairs were pretty comfortable inside & they seem to have a lot of specials for food & drinks which is always great. Today I watched the Last Black Man of San Francisco & it was one the most beautifully made movies that I've ever seen. I highly recommend everyone to watch it & also visit this theatre!

Ownership transferred several years ago to Phoenix Theaters which I think is based in Knoxville, TN. I saw a morning showing of Toy Story 5 on Labor Day before it moved to Disney+ at the end of the month. I don't have a membership for Disney+ and the showtime was convenient. A good parking space was easy to find. Several rows were full but it wasn't packed packed if you know what I mean. I completely forgot the kiosks were in the main entrance area. When I left there were people using them so at least 2 were working. The carpet in the inner lobby is absolutely disgusting. I'm not sure how long ago it was steam cleaned. The yellow section of the pattern is now consistently grey as far as the eye can see. There must be significant tears in the carpet as there was duct tape in multiple sections and some of it was several feet long. The menu included the usual snacks, pretzels, nachos, and surprisingly... burgers. It looked like there was even a breakfast burger option. They have the Coke Freestyle machines. I didn't notice if the bar was open but it seems to be an option. I got a Large popcorn which includes free refills the same day. Popcorn tasted fresh and deliciously salty. The refreshment area was clean and very tidy. The staff were very on point. I didn't expect there to be full staff on a holiday so it was no surprise to see tickets and concessions being handled at the concession area. There was one main register being used so people were lining up in the center. (No ropes to corral people.) As the line got long, more staff would jump onto two other registers to help move people through. On occasion someone would step up to make another line in front of one of the other two registers which put them ahead of the single long line of people. I walked into the theater during the previews. The movie time was posted as 11:15am and it started around 11:30am. Maybe Phoenix has fewer trailers? Or there just weren't a lot of kid friendly ones? The sound quality was good. The picture though had an issue. Nothing ever got out of synch and the frame rate appeared to be fine. The light just wasn't consistent across the screen. I'm sure it was a digital projection but I don't have enough technical knowledge to know what would cause that. This summer they had free showings scheduled for several kids movies (Sing, Sing 2, Bad Guys, The Wild Robot, etc) that would keep kids occupied and break up summer days. They have a very straightforward rewards program. Every $1 spent on tickets and concessions is counted. You can earn free popcorn, free drink or free movie ticket. I don't know how easy it is to sign up for it. I plan to take advantage of the $5 Tuesdays in the future to see if the projection quality is any better. I didn't stop by one of the restrooms to see how well maintained they were. This theater has been in place over 20 years. It has wear and tear. It's never had any facilities upgrades to the auditoriums. It's rundown. Some restrooms were closed for use. It was fine. Was I worried about my health or safety due to unsafe (broken chairs) or unsanitary conditions? No, not on this first visit.

Sodas are much more expensive than actual bottles of water so I found that pretty ridiculous - Pretty much all the soda fountains out of ice and multiple sodas - Entire place was disgusting - trash and spills everywhere. I didn't go to the bathrooms but I can't imagine they looked much better - In the theatre there was a constant tapping sound, my entire group mentioned it distracting them. I think it may have been the ceiling fan in the theatre, but regardless it was annoying

I had heard that people in theaters were singing along loudly to the music and I wanted to avoid that at all costs. I also didn't want to sit near anyone so I wasn't distracted. I liked being able to see the status of seating and tickets sales online and the ability to buy my ticket that way - but wasn't too happy about the service charge I had to pay to do so. Anyways, I got to the theater a few minutes before the posted start time. I waited at the ticket window only to find out that I could go right up to the ticket taker and they would scan my e ticket. Lesson learned. When I got to the theater, I was the ONLY person there. PERFECT. Unfortunately, a bunch of ladies came in right before the previews started and talked loudly through the entire preview screening. I guess that OK as I wasn't watching the previews - I just kept playing on my phone until the movie started. Once the movie started, they shut up and kept quiet the whole time. For those that don't know - Wicked (part 1) is 2 hours and 40 minutes run time - plus the previews. I have a chronic hamstring issue and quickly found out that these seats were not good for that pain. I spent the WHOLE time squirming and readjusting my sitting position as I never found a good way to sit. Yet another reason no one was sitting near me as I would have drove them nuts. In the future, I don't know if I'd come to see a movie here again. I know that Crosswoods has leather recliners and I am able to sit comfortably in them. I had considered seeing Wicked there - but there times/seating was not attractive. The movie experience itself was great. No complaints about picture or sound. The movie kept me engaged and I only thought about how long I'd been there a couple times and was tempted to check my watch - but I did not. However, by the time the movie ended, I was about at the end of my attention span and ability to sit any longer. The e ticket option - now that I know that I can skip to the ticket taker - is quite convenient. Parking was good at that time of day but I know it can be challenging for more popular show times. Food and drink prices are insane so I brought my own bottle on Diet Mt Dew in. Restrooms were good and I somehow managed not to have to use the facilities during the movie - but I sure needed it as soon as the movie was over. Again - location good. I find it easier to manage than going to Easton Town center which is equally near my house. So if you're looking for a nice, casual movie theater with no bells or whistles in seating, this is your place. It just might not be the place for me again, unless somehow my hamstring magically heals. Doubtful since it's been problematic for almost 10 years.

We were attending a 12:45 movie, and the doors didn't open until 12:15. I'm not sure if Sundays always follow the 30-minutes-before-showtime rule, but it's worth noting. The bar area is spacious and open anytime. The theater itself was on the smaller side but still plenty roomy, with very comfortable chairs. Each seat has a narrow table in front for food and drinks, which was a nice touch. The surround sound system was solid. Parking is mostly located behind the building and can be pricey when enforcement is in effect. Unfortunately, the theater can't assist with parking since it's not their lot. The bartender was fantastic--very friendly, explained where the theater was, how ordering works, and answered all of our questions since it was our first time there. We ordered pizza, which came out quickly and was delicious. We tried the Elephant and the Hot Swarm--both excellent. They offer 40 beers on tap, along with cider, wine, and hard liquor.
