The decor is cute. The breakfast buffet didn't look that great so we ordered off the menu. Service was OK and food was OK BUT NOTHING WAS AMAZING ! The place was very cute and super clean though. All the staff were friendly I bought a couple German Swiss souvenirs here. I'd come back and try another meal if in the area.

We stayed three nights recently for a wedding reception, in a king-sized bed room in their north building. Check in went smoothly, and all the staff we interacted with on our stay were knowledgeable, kind, and very genuine. The lobby area has a few couches and a table, as well as a small coffee station for guests to use. They also sell a few trinkets like magnets, key chains, etc. My only major complaint about the lobby area is that everything smelled a little "old" and dusty. Our room was okay. It had a strange set up that included a narrow hallway around the bathroom and a closet without a door. The bed was a true king, and we also had a small sitting chair, a desk, dresser, mini-fridge, and a television. The bathroom in our room was a bit small, so much so that the door just barely missed the toilet, but it served it's purpose. The bathroom seemed clean, and everything worked well. The room itself was VERY humid, despite the air conditioner being turned on. The humidity alone would have been one thing, but our room also had a slight smell to it, like a mixture of dust and mildew. We visited our friends' rooms, and they all had their own unique smells as well. However, none of the smells were so overwhelming that it was anything to complain about at the time. The bed itself was fine, nothing super comfortable but not too hard or stiff. The housekeepers seemed to come and go at the perfect times every day, so our room was always spruced up a little every day with a made bed and folded towels. I also appreciated the two Lindt chocolate truffles that were left for us on the first day of our stay. While there, we visited the pool area several times. The steam room and sauna work well, and were a nice little amenity that we weren't used to having at other hotels. The pool was nice as well. The hot tub was okay, but our first night there, the chemicals they used in the hot tub were so strong that many of our eyes and noses started to sting a bit. We also noticed there was a LOT of sand in the bottom of the hot tub, which was a little off-putting. The hinge on the top of the door leading to the pool was also dark brown and completely rusted off, so that it was no longer attached properly. For one weekday night, and two weekend nights (plus a $13 magnet), our total was just over $500. With the average hotel costing around $140 a night, this place does run more expensive than usual. I'm not sure the extra expense is worth it, to be honest, but there also aren't many other places to stay. I think they know this, and use it to justify their prices. Overall, our stay here was decent and the staff were the highlight of the visit. With a little updating and thorough cleaning (to remove musty smells), this could easily be a 4 star hotel.

This is one of my favorite places for a weekend getaway...period! My boyfriend and I are starting a "winter tradition" by coming up here during the cold, holiday months. We really enjoy the relaxed vibe and rustic/European charm. The staff here is very pleasant and it's always a pleasure to interact with them. I really appreciate that the inn has always been immaculately clean. There is no weird "hotel smell" and rooms are up to par. There is a lovely fireplace in the lobby which is great to relax by, with magazines to pass the time. We enjoy swimming in the pool, relaxing in the hot tub, and sweating out the toxins in the dry and steam sauna! Breakfast is also complimentary....usually there are eggs, rosti (a Swiss dish similar to hash browns but more delicious!), pancakes, fruit, croissants/danishes, and juices. That helps save some money in the morning! Directly behind the inn is a big bike trail/walking path and it's literally a couple minute stroll into town. There is a grocery store and gas station across the street/next door for convenience. Overall, we love this place and look forward to our little getaways. Highly recommend!

We stayed overnight in November and had an amazing time. The hotel is beautiful, well-kept and an easy walk to downtown New Glarus. We did the wine package which came with a delicious cheese tray and a tasting at nearby Baileys Run. We also got to try out the pool/whirlpool and sauna which were great. But the best part was dinner in the restaurant....we got the Filet Landhaus and the Almond Crusted Salmon - and would consider taking the three hour drive from Chicago just for dinner! Overall a great stay, and we will be back for sure!

Visited a friend in Wisconsin just a couple of weeks ago and stayed at the Chalet Landhaus. My good friend knew the owner being a young lady who grew up in the area and we ran into him one morning and enjoyed wonderful conversation. I arrived late, Michael Bell the manager answered and came back to the hotel to check me with after hours. We also enjoyed great conversation. After the long flight the last couple of weeks I was also able to upgrade to the jacuzzi suite, just wonderful! The hotel and the city were absolutely fantastic. Everyone should visit New Glarus... Switzerland in America, and the Chalet Landhuas. I very seldom take the time to write a review but this trip was so improved by the hotel, it staff, its breakfast, and wonderful dinners.. simply a truly wonderful experience! My compliments to the owner, the manager Michael, and the staff. Steve

It took us at least three tries to get into our room each time. I would've much preferred a card key. The second problem we had was the volume on our TV. It didn't work properly. It was very loud, but you could not turn it down, nor could you turn it up. We're pretty tech savvy and we could not figure out how to solve this problem. And since there's no one on site, although the ladies were very good at getting back to us quickly, I didn't feel like walking into an empty lobby at night to try to grab a remote. That was the solution. That being said, it was a lovely stay. And the two women who run the motel are very responsive if you have a problem.

Upon arrival, it was so helpful to have our own assigned parking spot. As soon as we entered the lobby, Debbie was a delight and greeted me by name; she escorted us to our suite and showed us the amenities and answered any questions we had. The room was clean and spacious, and the grounds along the Sugar River were lovely. We were immensely pleased with our stay. The Seafood Soirée event felt hodge-podge. VIPs didn't get any sort of band to tip off the bartenders that our drinks were free for the first hour; two separate times I heard staff in other areas talking about workers getting placed behind the bar without being trained (one resulted in a coordinator having to comp a bottle of wine as the bar staff was misinformed). So the lines were long, the chairs should have been pulled away from the bar as they got in the way and people tried to sit in them. Trying to meet Andrew Zimmern as a person with manners was difficult as staff didn't even attempt to keep order and people kept budging in without waiting. The food served during the VIP hour was underwhelming. Then we get to 4 pm and walk out to the stations to find the food wasn't ready. Cue milling about. Then the two chef celebrities didn't even speak on time. We eventually left early and went back to our room. So regarding coordinating and hosting an event, they really missed the mark. We would definitely stay at the Inn again, and in fact are already talking about returning. But would we spend a few hundred dollars to attend an event there again? No.

Actually he was really nice and likely oversaw the reconciliation. The high top bar setting is good-not too loud but open and I love a kitchen view. As for the food I'll mostly ignore their cheese tower-though the pickles and mustard was stand out great. But the entrees. The haddock fish fry was perfect. Though the slaw is flavorless. Truly great fish fry. Top 5 in Dane county. Their short rib was amazing. Tender. Polenta cubes delicious. Veggies great. They both suffered from the same problem. Staging. For the fish fry the fries were at best ambient room temp. For the short rib the polenta was the same. They both lose their temp fast. So. What I didn't like: - Mini fridge in the room had a lot of snacks and other drinks that I assume were for sale. There's a wide variety of hole styles to keep your attention, highlighted by their signature par-3 #5 that takes you 120 yards out, but straight down to a soft green. The view is intimidating, but it's a hole you could shoot at for hours. Immediately after #5, you're challenged to drive over the rocky, steep face that you just came down. There are holes with blind tee shots over hills, hard dog-leg turns, and plenty of terrain to navigate. I haven't even mentioned hole #1 - a long par 5 up a big hill (and almost always into the wind). Once you get past that hole, the rest doesn't feel too bad.
