Babe's at Vitense has excellent food and drinks right where there's lots of fun to be had! Their covered open air patio even has cooling fans and sports TV. Such a lovely space. We tried out Babe's at Vitense for a weekday lunch. The restaurant has lots of natural light and beautiful golf-related photo enlargements covering the walls. We both were impressed by the food: Fried cod sandwich with side salad and a cheeseburger with house-made potato chips. The breading on the cod was stellar with the perfect crunch and peppery flavor. We had a great time with the family at Golfland today. They have both indoor and outdoor putt-putt, a Top Golf inspired driving range, putting and chipping green, full service restaurant, and if that's not enough, an ice cream shop so it's a great place to satisfy a large age range of people. We had a couple burgers, some salads, and kids meals and everything was delicious. The ice cream shop is also solid with us trying out the key lime pie that had large chunks of batter in it and the blue ice cream, Superman. Putt-putt was fun with plenty of water features and little slides and obstacles for the kids to have fun with. Went for dinner on a Sunday evening. Restaurant area was not busy, maybe 4 table occupied. We were served our drinks within 15 minutes of arrival. We asked for straws for our drinks and our server dropped them off and walked away. Never asked if we were ready to order, just left. We waited another 15 for her to return. After another 15 minutes our food finally arrived. It was terrible, awful, nothing like Babes was before. Many items listed on website were not listed on the menu in the restaurant Music was too loud to talk. Server was sweeping around our table, banging constantly. Was here for a DNC watch party earlier this week. I have been here before a handful of times for work events or kid birthday parties. It was a nice surprise to see that they serve onion hoops. For those that used to go to the restaurant that is no longer in existence called babes it was a nice blast from the past. Which, according to their walls, a small babes restaurant is coming soon within Vitense. The prices are pretty comparable for what you get. The indoor course for kids is fun. Unfortunately, the remote boats, not all of them were working. However, the the attendant was very helpful in marking, which ones no longer worked for future. Great place for kids and it was a fun time for the DNC event. The TV unfortunately wasn't loud enough for all the loud voices in the room. The drinks were surprisingly very good. It was our first stop on our trip to Wisconsin so it was a fun experience to walk through all the fun locations in the state! Some holes were hard and some were easy! Been wronged TWICE here with customer service, so I'll explain both in great detail. Typically I don't leave reviews, however tonight was the second time my husband and I have visited, and had bad service. By management and front desk staff. The first time we came, we played mini golf and ate dinner, and the issue was at the restaurant. We ordered drinks that were on special, as stated in the menu, but were charged the normal price. When we notified our waiter, he said he would get a manager to handle it. When he brought back our "fixed" bill, there was the price difference taken off, then added back on. Finally we got it fixed after sending it back again. Tonight however, was where it turned from "mistakes happen" to deserving a review. My husband and I came to play the par 3 course tonight. He's played golf for a couple years but I personally have never played an actual course. We thought it would be a fun time and good place for me to start. We called at 8:18 before we drove there to ask if they had availability around 8:30/8:45. They said they were free till 9 but could put us down for a spot at 8:36, so we did that. We got there at 8:44 and they said we were late so we would have to wait till 8:56 to start, which we were totally fine with. We had NO further instructions on when we needed to be back in or anything like that. They weren't busy on the course and we never had someone waiting behind us so we took our time, and had a great time playing together! At about 10:30 someone comes up to us on a cart (I'm assuming a manager) and rudely told us that we were taking so long on the course, so we thought they maybe had already closed and were waiting for us, nope! They close at 11:30, so he told us to head in around 10:45. We get to the front desk at 10:48 and heard the girl working the front desk (who checked us in) talking to the person from the golf cart about my husband and I. She didn't see us when we walked up bc she went on about how we thought we could just come in late and go (she mentioned us calling ahead and the times we came in so we knew it was about us). When we returned the clubs we rented my husband plainly said "so you're talking about us?" She was taken back for a sec so he said "you were caught, don't lie!" She said, "I didn't say anything". We just said that's crazy and left. If you're gonna talk shit about your customers, you should probably make sure they aren't standing right next to you. read more

We played an early morning round on the original 18 holes.(1955) It was fabulous but quite difficult. Each hole is themed and has things to climb on or sit on. The greens themselves have many slight inclines making it trickly. Well worth the visit. There is also real golf and a pitch and putt, a cafe and other amusements. Although it is certainly showing in age in many areas, Vitense Golfland is still an awesome spot for all things golf, whether you are looking for mini golf fun with the family or honing your swing at the range. First, the mini golf is great. They have three courses (2 outdoor and 1 indoor) that are fun and challenging, with water hazards, slides and small climbs that keep it interesting for players of all ages. The price isn't outrageous but it isn't necessarily cheap either at $10/person. Also, the outdoor course does show signs of aging; I suppose the Wisconsin elements will do that over time. Second, the nine hole Par 3 course is quick play for beginners and skilled players alike. With holes ranging from about 90 yards to 160 yards, you can get practice over a variety of different clubs. It also doubles as a foot golf course if you are into that. The greens this past summer were OK to a little rough in some spots; they were definitely affected by the drought. Third, their seasonal golf leagues are good value as you get weekly 30 min of range time and you play the Par 3 course weekly for about $15/week, while also getting to meet other golfers from around the area. Finally, the range. It's the only place in the Madison that (1) has TopTracer, which uses cameras to track your golf shots (ball speed, carry and total distance, curve, etc.) and (2) has heated bays in the wintertime, allowing to practice year round (although about 15 degrees is my limit for cold). Basket prices are a little more than other ranges, but they offer specials from time to time that make it more economical too (i got Black Friday sale of 24 large baskets at $8/each). They also have a restaurant, ice cream, and other things like batting cages and indoor simulators, which I have yet to try. Overall, while some areas are aged and could use some renovations (the mini golf and greens), a good family owned business to visit to immerse yourself in the wonderful game of golf! read more

We came for the mini golf and stayed for drinks and an appetizer. A couple things to note, the drinks are delicious and strong! They'll even put a lid on your drink if you're like me and get too competitive on the mini golf course. we tried the smaller version of the pretzel/charcuterie board. We loved it! I've came here a few times to drive balls and it's always been a fun time. However on my latest visit here Vitense turned the lights off while I was still golfing on the lit par 3 course. No warning or anyone checking to see if anyone was still on the course. 9pm. Supposed to close at 11pm per their hours. This is a law suit waiting to happen if the lights were turned off and someone got seriously hurt because they couldn't see. If you're looking for mini golf in Madison, Vitense is a must go!! They have two different outdoor courses to choose from. There is a California themed course and a Wisconsin themed course. As a Badger lover, I prefer the Wisconsin course but both are super fun. Both courses include zip lining, slides, rock climbing, and more! These unique features are fun for both kids and adults. You can also choose to walk down the stairs or across a bridge rather than one of the more adventurous routes. There's a reason why this course is rated as one of the most fun courses in America. You also have the option of going to the indoor mini golf course or the driving range. Vitense has a full service bar and restaurant as well. A very adorable, long running mini golf and practice area for golf swings. The fam and I went and enjoyed the WI style mini golf course (there are two options). They have a range to practice golf swings, Two outdoor and one indoor mini golf course, food and drinks and a general seating area. The golf course is fun and very cute. Some of the homes had me a little worried as the wood is getting old but it's a fun time. If you have kids it's extra fun because each hole has a structure that they can play on. If you're in Madison it's a staple and I recommend going. read more

Bumping to 4 stars since we're past the organized birthday party phase with our kids. Recent hit Vitense to hit some golf balls with my oldest son. We got the "bucket and breakfast" special, which is a GREAT deal. it's $12.75 for a "big Geroge" bucket alone. But for $12, you can get that AND a breakfast (around $8 value). We each got the special, which was way to many golf balls for what we were there for, but it was a super value. In addition to the great special, we were sent off to a suite to hit our golf balls. The suites are very nice - with LED TVs (we didn't use, but nice to have it), comfortable seating, and most importantly - ball launch monitors. We hit just over half our buckets when another group started loitering in our suite. They were scheduled for the top of the hour and were 10 minutes early. I was very distracted with them exploring the suite while we were still using it. I didn't feel like a confrontation, so we picked up our stuff and left. One note - they are more organized at the range now. There's a "front desk" where they assign you to a tee or suite. After we abandoned our suite, we checked back in with that kid and he put us on a tee with the common folk where we finished out our round. I enjoy that organization better than the "fend for yourself" mentality. I won't hold some peoples' rudeness against Vitense (the above-mentioned "squatting" in the suite). I have high hopes of hitting the par 3 a lot this summer over lunch. I will keep the suites in mind for a group of guys that want to hit some balls and work on our swings... read more

This place has some of the best mini-golf courses I've ever played on - challenging and plenty of variety between holes. There are 2 outdoor courses and 1 indoor one, and overall, the courses are pretty well maintained compared to other places. The prices are also more affordable than other places ($10 for 18 holes, $12 for 36, and $14 for 54). My boyfriend and I love ending our date nights here after dinner. I've heard from friends that Vitense is also an affordable training ground for beginner golfers, with an extensive driving range and a small/beginner's 9-hole golf course. I'm looking forward to trying these out in the near future. However, the women's bathroom has been absolutely disgusting the few times that I've visited. Urine on the toilets and no soap or paper towels sometimes. It took me right back to memories of using the 24-hour library bathrooms in college. Given the amount of people that visit Vitense in a day (especially with the extra traffic from high schoolers and college students in the summer), I really wish they would have someone clean the bathrooms more frequently. Overall, great place to mini-golf. Super affordable too. Just make sure to pee elsewhere before you go. read more

What a hidden (classic) treasure on the Westside! My kiddo and I went to enjoy a warm day and his first trip to the mini golf course (we had been to the batting cages in the past.) We were in luck when we were given admission to all three courses on account of the good weather! The mini golf games are long, but have quite the variety of hazards! Lol. Choose between the "Wisconsin" or "California" courses, or do both! Addiitonally there is an indoor course, arcade, normal golf course, driving range, lunch counter, full bar ANNNNND ice cream! A great place to take the kids when weather is bad. Mini golf out side and in. According to the menu, there are other activities to do that I didn't have time to check out. Son and I mini golfed (outside) a few weeks ago. Everything is maintained well considering the harsh weather. Once you work your way to the end, you have the option to try and win a free round. I have not tried the indoor version yet. Yesterday we tried out the driving range. We don't golf, but we had a a good time. The best part was that each booth has a heater....and the work well. They work so well, after a few minutes we had to turn them off. Prices for all the events are moderately priced. There is a food service area. A good selection of simple foods that will catch any kids eye. Definitely a place to go, to get out of the house and entertain your self for a few hours. read more

Vitense is a fun place to visit with plenty of things to do. I like going to hit a bucket of balls but they have a pretty decent par 3 course and mini golf. This place has been more packed than usual and as such they have increased their drink prices. I would check out the daily drink specials as they are a good deal. I give Vitense 4 stars because the service and accommodations are great but I would only leave 3 stars for the food. I know it's not a restaurant but they could improve because it's such a fun place with a group. The food is just ok. I did order the fish tacos this visit, they were a bit bland and even the salsa could easily be improved. The tortilla chips were good though. My experience with Vitense is limited to their mini golf courses. I shouldn't be allowed to swing a club with any real force within a square mile of other humans. Hand/eye/body coordination and spatial awareness are not my strong suits. In spite of this, though, I am not terrible (and sometimes even good) at mini golf. On my last visit I played the indoor course because it was still only in the high 40s/lower 50s and I wasn't quite ready to have an outdoor adventure. I've played all three of the courses once before on various occasions and have enjoyed each one. The indoor course seems to be the easiest. I enjoy the blacklight portion (though not so much the weird stains that show up on my clothes - this last time an area I had previously used stain fighter on equaled a huge splotch on my pant leg - glad it was just on the knee) and the chance to be a kid again with multiple slides. Be careful of the slide at the final hole, though - the amount of static electricity was insane. I was frankly surprised by the strength of the multiple shocks I received. The outdoor courses are fun and when the weather is nice lend themselves better to a leisurely time goofing off - they tend to be busy so it takes awhile to play through. One of these days I'd like to try the batting cages, and they've got some good specials for playing multiple courses or incorporating other activities into your day. I recently discovered they have something called footgolf, which sounds like a combination between mini golf and soccer. Looking forward to warmer weather to try it out! read more

Make sure you're up on your tetanus shots if you go there. Good place to take kids both in the summer and winter. Pay attention to the day and time of day you visit. It's crazy after school or when schools are closed. You either feel rushed to go through the course or you have to wait for the group before you. With bigger kids this isn't a big deal, but if you take kids under 4 years it can be very challenging to manage with crowds. It's best to go dugong off times when taking younger kids - much more enjoyable for everyone. There's a variety of activities - Mini golf, arcade, batting cage and more.
