Nice property I've stayed here a couple years ago and didn't have a pleasant experience at that time. Seems they have done some renovating and got a room on the first floor this time. Rooms are nice and the whirlpool was just what my achy bones needed. Problem was like it was before lack of consistency. Having to stay for an additional day we asked to stay an additional night. I guess that Monroe is so popular that they are sold out but they would have to move me and charge me more for the same exact room. I guess someone specifically booked the room we were in so we needed to move out and move into a higher priced room that was exactly the same with a sleeper sofa. I don't need a sleeper sofa what I needed was sleep. But instead I spent the morning that I could have been sleeping in my room, moving to another room and paying 10.00 more for that. I guess if you are from Wisconsin and IL it's different. I won't be back ever again. I have relatives living here in Monroe and will stay in Madison at a Marriott versus ever experiencing this place again.

Sorry, I'm just not into you. I have stayed at this place for a total of four weeks over the past few months, so I guess you could say I've got a "feeling" for it. And that feeling is not good. Unsmiling, unhelpful employees upon check-in. And if you're on the second floor, watch out, they don't have an elevator. Hope nobody in a wheelchair, or who has difficulty navigating stairs (like elderly parents) receives a booking on the second floor. If you stay on the first floor, and try to open your curtains, it allows everyone in the parking lot to look into your room. It also allows all the cigarette smoke from the "parking lot smokers" to filter in through your window. In fact, I had a hard time entering through either the front or the side door without being engulfed in cigarette smoke. The rooms were fairly clean, but the bathrooms were not. When I brought this up in an online review (sent to me by the management company) after my first stay, the response I received was "well the bathrooms are 20 years old". You know what? Just because the building is older doesn't mean it can't be properly cleaned. Also could hear my neighbor snoring through the walls at night on one of my stays. Challenging, to say the least. Add to that doors slamming at all hours, and guess how much sleep I got? The one positive was Hannah, who seemed to try and be on top of things. She was the bright part of my stay there. I realize there are not a lot of options in Monroe, WI. But this last stay had me considering mine...

I think we've been coming to Albany House for almost 10 years -- first to visit family in the area,…read moreand now we bring friends with us. Green County provides a nice getaway, and Albany House is the perfect base for us. There are four bedrooms on the second floor and the third floor is a suite (two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a common area). Their website has pictures of everything so you can see the rooms before you make a reservation. Albany isn't a well-known destination, but if you want to relax, ride your bike on the Sugar River trail, sample lots of cheeses, visit the best brewery in Wisconsin (or any combination of those things), I would recommend checking out this B&B. The breakfasts are fantastic -- enough to get you through most of the day. And now they just opened a cottage (really a vintage bungalow on the Sugar River) across the street with two bedrooms and bathrooms plus a whirlpool tub (in a separate room with a fireplace) and its own kitchen, dining room and living room. It looks really nice (but we haven't stayed there yet).

She went the extra mile! Reese was a cute and smiley toddler. No complaints whatsoever. So many fun things to do in the area. Small town charm abounds. Place was so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Complete silence. Lovely space. Well appointed. Lots of original woodwork, marble sinks, faucets, etc. This is a very historic home. Fluffy towels and bathrobes. Soap, lotion and other essentials are available in case you forget something. Treats, coffee and tea were available at all times. Games and books and magazines in the room. Flexible hosts just full of local information. Restaurant menus, maps and information on things to do are available. Just awesome all the way around!

My only recommendation would for them to improve shower heads . It shows signs of outdated. Towels I think needs to be replaced. They look too washed out (bleached out), too much. There are only ten rooms per floor so we thought it would be a quiet place. That evening, however, a large group of adults and children took over multiple rooms across the hall from us. From around 6:30 until around 11 there was constant conversations and children screaming while running from room to room and slamming doors. Thankfully it stopped around 11 pm and we were able to get to sleep. The peace was short lived, as they wound up again just after one am. The next morning, as we were leaving for the day, we stopped at the desk and asked for our room to be refreshed. The clerk said she would have it done. On our return to our room we found it in the same condition as when we left. I went down to the desk and asked when the housekeeper would be available and was told that they were gone for the day. I told her that we had requested that it be refreshed. She told me that if it hadn't been done it was probably because I had left the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. (It really bothers me when a staff member automatically blames me without any information.). She said that she would talk to the housekeeper and make sure it was done tomorrow. I told her that we were checking out in the morning and she merely shrugged. I asked for towels and went back upstairs. The two stars are for our initial impressions, though that's being generous.
