We booked a date ahead of time that turned out to be right after the late January ice storm. The inn called to confirm our visit or to offer a refund with no penalty. "We are comIng" and so they were ready. We were the only guest, however, which was great, because we had the run of the place, but odd because from 9PM until 5;00 AM or thereabouts we were the only people in the inn. But happy hour went on nevertheless, beforehand, and dinner was cathead biscuits, local pecan encrusted pan seared trout, and other local delicacies. We felt so special! Our room was very nice, however, if you happen to be here during or after an ice storm, don't get a room adjacent to the main road. The power company did a great job clearing roads and restoring lines and such, but they get an early start and are big and loud rolling down the main cross street at very early AM times, and we are early risers. Just saying, a very, very lovely stay, but get a back room if an ice storm has just rolled through. Definitely will return!

Positives: Decor is nice and breakfast in the morning is good. Latissia is so great!…read more Negatives: No mountain view. Rooms are very small and lobby of inn is locked up after 9 pm. We checked out early because mattress was so uncomfortable in "Holly". When this was brought up to management the general manager Jenna said "I have slept in that bed before and it was fine" - not the most professional response. Sorry won't return and I cannot recommend.

The room was in disrepair and dated. The "valley view " room was beautiful years ago but is now an overgrown wooded lot. Construction tape and equipment is scattered over the property, potholes are everywhere. The restaurant, which is legendary, is nicely remodeled recently, however the staff is not attentive and have a hard time understanding you. The food was terrible. Crunchy Lima beans. Vinegar soaked coleslaw. Soggy unseasoned fried chicken. This was a family owned business for 100 years recently sold to a New York real estate developer it's so sad to see this legendary establishment become a corporate cookie cutter hotel. The food used to be known all over as the best around, it is now inedible.

The bathroom ceiling fan half hanging down, along with the dirty grout in the shower. The one bed had a sag in the middle so only person could sleep on it. The other bed was OK. The electrical outlets, not usable since the anything plugged in fell out. The desk chair fell apart when we went to move it. The conference center itself was very nice. The food for lunch was good. They did bring out pads for the wooden chairs! They brought out hot water but no tea bags? Yet; had ice tea at lunch. So they had tea bags and just didn't put them out. The kicker - we paid for three nights but let them have the room after two nights. They charged an early check out fee for a full night! We should have just not let them have the room early and never said anything!! To charge a full fourth night is outrageous. Next time we will stay at the Hampton Inn and drive to the conference. The Hampton gets 4.3 stars. And the Hampton has a hot breakfast.
