Tammy O is our first shout-out: I had a medical emergency and spent the night in the ER before our trip. I understood and respected the cancellation policy but called anyway to see if we could push our reservation back one day. Tammy graciously accommodated this change and completely saved our honeymoon! Upon arrival we were immediate greeted by our complimentary valet, and he was a lovely gentlemen. There were several front desk rockstars who assisted us throughout our stay and I regret I cannot name them individually. Our room was great, it was nice and quiet with a gorgeous balcony. (See photo of sunrise!). We ordered room service multiple times and it arrived promptly. All the food we ordered blew us away. Caledonia was too notch and accommodated my food allergy. We enjoyed the sky bar with Melissa and breakfast at Caledonia with Teddy. Karen at the spa called me to help arrange several fantastic and luxurious services. If she hadn't called, I may not have booked! So glad I did. Big thank-you to the ladies at the spa. You HAVE to try the head-spa experience!! The pool was lovely. The water was a perfect temp and they offer plenty of floaties. We enjoyed beer poolside thanks to Teddy. I think my favorite part was that they don't allow kids under (I think) 14. Sorry! But there should be luxury experiences available for adults only. Valhalla checked that box. I wanted to add one detail that mattered a lot to us: my husband and I are a heavily tattooed alternative couple. We live in Asheville, NC where the majority of our community looks just like us. But when we travel outside our bubble, we expect that people may treat us differently. Valhalla staff warmed up to us quickly and treated us like family. We notice these things and it always makes a difference in our experience. Thank you! We made a great choice with Valhalla. We are big Christmas people and I'd love to return for the holidays. I do not like to write a bad review, and I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but truly people…read moreneed to have a heads up. We came here for my husband's 60th birthday. You can tell from the photos that the hotel is dated, so that was not a surprise to us. When I read the reviews and saw a 4.6-star rating, I was expecting a nice hotel, but it is a little odd. Driving up to the hotel, you're not even sure it's the entrance. We arrived, and when we got to our room, it smelled a little like smoke as well as animals. I knew they accepted dogs, but when I called beforehand, I was assured they were kept in a separate section of the hotel. Of course, later I saw a large dog in the lobby. Again, I knew they accepted dogs, so it really wasn't a problem. We went into the quaint town of Helen and never heard from anyone at the hotel, so we went to the small office desk in the lobby and asked about the smells. They moved us to the room next door. The room was comfortable, large, had a sitting area, and the shower was nice. The next morning, I took a walk around the grounds to check out the tennis court. I need to attach a picture because it was a little scary and definitely not usable. They should not advertise that they have a tennis court. As I called beforehand to make sure they had a tennis court and pickleball. The next day, we headed into Helen again and wanted to return to the hotel for just an hour or so before heading back out, but we couldn't find a parking space. We had to head down a steep hill where there were some spaces, then drove back up the hill to see if one had opened up. They have a large section of about five valet spaces. A woman from the hotel drove by on a golf cart, and my husband asked if we could park in one of the spaces for an hour. She said they were reserved for those coming for dinner. My husband sarcastically replied, "Not for those staying here for four nights?" She was a nice lady, but that seemed odd. She removed one of the cones, and we parked in one of the five open spaces. The place was very slow and seasonal. The funny thing is that after being there for two nights, and with only a few guests around, she even asked, "Well, are you staying here at the hotel?" She didn't remember us, and we had spoken with her three times. I promise you, we are easy people. We understand that nothing is going to be perfect, and we can accept that. But not remembering us after several interactions felt a little disconcerting when you're hoping for a special experience. Meanwhile, it is now the next day, and I'm sitting in the lobby. No one has come to talk to me about the tennis court. We mentioned the room smell, we mentioned the tennis court, and we had to follow up ourselves by the end of the day. It's just a little disappointing when you're looking forward to a special getaway and feel like your concerns are not being addressed. That said, we did enjoy the warm chocolate chip cookies that were available in the evenings. They were a nice touch. And I should mention our first night we had dinner at the hotel and it was good. The onion rings were our favorite. Okay, one last experience. My husband is a golfer and I am not - I am a beginner. We decided for our last day we would play golf in the afternoon even if it's just to hit on the practice range. I told my husband I do not want to bother other golfers. We go to the pro shop and my husband asks if there is a time and mentions I am a beginner and he said they were truly filled up and that is fine as we did not set an appt but when my husband mentions we'd like to practice a little on the range and you can see no one is out there at this time, he replies we don't have any practice balls as he looks around - but you are more than welcome to take the golf cart and pick up some balls yourselves. We proceed to do this and when we head down there we practice a little and another couple come down as well and they say to us, wow we've never had this before, picking up your own practice balls. Anyways, wanted to mention our last experience. It is a shame, we will never come back to Valhalla Resort again.

But there was many issues with the rental. First of all, downstairs basement had a musty smell. Although there was a dehumidifier in place, a couple of my friends started feeling unwell after spending one night down in the basement. Second of all there was a gas leak at the grill so we couldn't use the grill at all in fear that that doing so would cause a fire. In additional, the dock at the lake was so rotted my friend got a big splinter in her feet! Also the lawn chairs were literally falling apart when someone sits on them! All of these things weren't be a big deal if the owners are helpful and compassionate , but instead they've become so greedy and judgmental even though they called themselves good Christians. We left a good review for previously hoping they can remedy the situation and we can move pass it but none prevail. It makes hard for me to want to refer this place to anyone in fear of their safety.

I was worried it might be too small, but it was just right! I stayed in the loft bedroom's king sized bed and my friend stayed on the queen sized sleeper sofa downstairs. We had perfect timing and got to see the leaves changing color and enjoy the cool weather (being from South Florida these are both unusual!) We cooked some of our meals at the cabin in the well-stocked kitchen. There is a full fridge, stove/oven and a full set of dishes, glasses, cooking utensils and silverware. It got cold enough that we made hot apple cider and lit the wood burning fireplace. It was also nice to have the hot tub to soak in after a day out on the town in the cold. The nearby town of Helen is an adorable Bavarian Alpine Village with great little shops and restaurants. We also drove to nearby Dahlonega to check out the shops and artists there. We were able to go horseback riding at the Sunburst Stables in Clarkesville and we also took a trip to the North Georgia Zoo in Cleveland - I highly recommend both! I can't wait to come back in the summer to enjoy some more outdoor activities like tubing on the Chattahoochee River or boating on Unicoi Lake at Unicoi State Park.

My three boys ages 9,9 and 13 were very upset that there was no longer complimentary homemade goodies (muffins, fruit, granola bars, bread) and I had to request the code to the lobby. Otherwise, the Deerfield Inn is still a great place to stay if you want to relax and enjoy the lake view.

We had some trouble receiving the arrival instructions, and he ended up having to call them directly to get them, but they were responsive in providing the instructions. When we got to our cabin we were welcomed with a tidy, clean cabin with some water, snacks, and a s'mores kit! The firewood and starters were just outside the cabin. Even though we were only staying for one night, plenty of firewood and multiple starters were provided. Unfortunately, some of our wood was a bit damp despite being enclosed in a bin, so we heavily relied on drier wood that we found within the radius of our cabin. The s'mores were our favorite part! The kit they provide aren't just for any ordinary s'mores. They replaced the graham cracker with stroopwaffles! Wow, I'm spoiled forever. The stroopwaffle s'mores were awesome! We appreciated how the cabin provided many essentials, and for some things that we forgot (a lighter for the fire), or didn't think to bring (tin foil for cooking our food over the fire, and a lamp), the cabin provided. One thing I don't recall seeing were skewers for the s'mores... we happened to bring our own, but something to keep in mind. Note that this place is very much remote with no in-cabin wifi. You are totally off the grid, and walking around a couple steps beyond the radius of your cabin is not going to get you signal. That being said, be prepared to be off! Download maps ahead of time, make sure you don't have any obligations that require you to be online, let appropriate parties know if necessary, etc. From my experience, the remote radius extended about 30 minutes driving in either direction on the road.

The location offers parking and the unit is spotless with everything working like new. The furnish is well maintained and the ease of check-in and check-out only made the process 100% efficient. The kitchen had everything in working order, plenty of details addressed, like the beer steins, or the bottle openers, given the two large bedrooms, each with their own bathrooms, made our trip of two couples and absolute pleasure. Enough space to breath and yet cozy for 4 or 6 people. The living room sofa is so comfortable and there are plenty of blankets to unroll and watch a movie or a game. Yes, there is WiFi that works and televisions in each bedroom and in the living room too. Absolute comfort and inviting. We all agreed this location, this condo and the fun town of Helen made this long weekend getaway some fantastic memories that we will want to repeat again. The pull-out sofa, and the outside screened in porch with hot tub made it even better. Our spot was the envy of everyone else and became the gathering place for about 15 to 20 family members. I didn't see the owner/manager while there, but there was no need. Check-in was easy. For the one time that I did contact them, they promptly replied. The only suggestion I have is that they do a little spring cleaning under and behind furniture. It was a little scary retrieving that dropped item that required looking in the sofa cracks and underneath.

The girl said she would put it up but I just did it since it was easy. There was also a small hole under the sink (2 sinks ... one in with toilet and shower... and the other outside the bathroom... perfect) in the shower room. Nothing came into the room. Be prepared that due to Covid it's best if you brought some Clorox wipes with you in case you want to wipe your room down. Also if you want a bag for b'fast you need to fill out the form at the front desk the night before. I felt safe in the hotel. The river was soothing eve in winter.
