They know their Macs and their not frightened to use their knowledge. Mac Alert have recently moved into new premises on South Road at Edwardstown and they're now opposite the Avoca Hotel. Business must be going well for these guys because they have significantly upsized their shop. I have my eye on a 27" iMac in Mac Alert store at the moment. This is the third MSY place I've reviewed, and it's the one I've used the least. Not through…read moreanything this place has done to put me off going there, though. I just find that the location hasn't often been convenient for me to shop at, as when I'm in Adelaide, I'll usually be in the city, and when I'm at home, well, that's not anywhere near Adelaide, full stop. I bought a new box in here a few months ago. I think it was an Antec 300. A power supply too, a fairly good one. Both had been going really well. I think since I went in there, they've reorganised the shop, if they're anything like the other MSYs I've been too. Now, you don't go to the counter and ask the staff to get the parts you're after, you need to walk through the store, pick up what you want (which is tricky if you don't know what the packaging looks like), and walk to the queue at the counter. MSY really aren't about service. They're about being very cheap. If you've got a faulty product, then they won't be exchanging it, they'll be sending it off to the manufacturer, and you'll be lucky if you see it again in the next month, usually more. But that's part of the chance you take when shopping somewhere so cheap.

There was almost everything you could find a use for in a home, from drawers, bedside tables and a great range of dining room tables. If you have a really huge family this would be a great place to look as I saw a couple of 10-12 seater tables. Not on the cheap side mind you, but polished beautifully with reupholstered chairs. As soon as I stepped in the store a bell went off which alerted a small old lady who came and asked me if I needed any help. When I said no, she gestured down the stairs where there was a lot more furniture to see. I think this would also be the sort of place that had rotating stock so you might need to check up on it every month or so.

To give you an idea of the brands they enjoy dealing with are Noblett, Parker, Chiswell, Sellicks and I'd say Eames has passed through their hands to be sure. Just imagine the grand homes of Prospect, Unley, North Adelaide and the like, all will have some marvelous pieces and if not passed down in the family, may eventually make their way here and live on in someone else's home. Cedarwood, Mahogany, Oak, Blackwood, Maple and even Huon Pine are just some of the types of wood the furniture is made of and manufactured with traditional methods, a rarity nowadays and completely out of reach for the average wage earner. Prices can vary from affordable to sugar daddy no holds barred, so if you're in the market for furniture especially for an older home, this is a good place to visit. Plus delivery costs are reasonable.

I don't care what you know about guitars. I don't care if you can write three different dissertations differences between Nocasters, Broadcasters and two pickup Esquires: these guys know more than you AND they happily talk to you all day about the nuances of which fuzzbox is going to work best with your obscure pickups. Not a total guitar geek? These guys will break it down very simply and explain anything you want them to. Never condescending, just genuinely interested and eager to help. The range of guitar and amps is... obscure. It's not really a retail range as a high end pawnshop of cool and interesting consignments. Weird Fenders Gibsons Gretches and Rickenbackers abound, but there's also an ever changing mix of more interesting Squiers, Dorbros, Jacksons, and a great range of mid to high end acoustics. There's a full repair shop out the back. If you love your guitar and its broke, take it there. If you want cheap, go somewhere else (like eBay). If you want the best, go to Fretco.
