    Garbage chicken Pastillio
    Fred B.

I used to like this place, but it's clear they've stopped caring about customers. I ordered two lack luster bowls and three orders of beef pastillios (9). The cashier confirmed my order, but still gave me the wrong items and they were burnt. I brought them back, and she tried to convince me it was the same thing I ordered. As if I was just supposed to eat whatever they handed me. I asked for a refund. She got an attitude, disappeared into the kitchen, and came back saying it'd be 5 minutes to fix. Seven minutes later, it was still wrong they gave me chicken instead of beef. I spent over $80 and was treated like my business didn't matter. If I pay for something, I expect to get exactly that not what you feel like giving me. Poor service. Basic food. Sloppy attitude. Beware Richmond, VA (I told you so) this was my last visit. One star.

It was a delicious experience that I wanted to have for a while I' ve had any Venezuelan arepas and I saw the opportunity to try them and I went for it . Food taste was unique tasty but a little bit bland for my taste no meaning any harm I know not ever Latino food is Mexican food and I do appreciate the difference in taste. Service was very friendly and welcoming the person a the front counter who tended to me was superb and when above and beyond to help me order and also was kind enough to give me a sample of the tequeños or as he described them the Venezuelan mozzarella sticks the ones I enjoyed very much with the provided sauce . The whole place located next or attached to a service station but non the less was charmingly decorated with Venezuelan decor with a Caribbean feel to it and very clean, also bathrooms were very clean and properly stocked up and smell decent.

    Paella made at your event!

After comparing prices from several local purveyors of Paella in Richmond, we selected Chamo's! Yes, we have go to their restaurant and yes we know the owners, but the reason we selected them had only a little to do with those factors and more to do with price. They were by far the lowest quote we received. From a to z they did everything right! We requested it be prepared for dinner at 5 and they delivered. We paid for 30 and the portions were very generous. But above all, they delivered a quality product! If you're having an event and want something different from pedestrian food, I strongly urge you to consider Chamo's for Paella!

Pabellon Arepa. Couldn't even take a bite haha too full!

I've never been to the establishment since my order was delivered. My food arrived on time and it was so AMAZING! The portions were huge! The soup was beyond phenomenal! It was very filling! The meat was very tender m. The rice was fluffy and very tasty. The tostones were crunchy and very flavorful!! I will be ordering from Chamo's again!

Love this place. My husband is Venezuelan and it tastes like home for him. They added chicken pastelitos to the menu and they are a delicious.

Small side order of fries (eh not great)

Just another great Venezuelan meal! Ordered for pickup and really quick turn around. We got a Pepito with grilled steak (think a steak and cheese sub Venezuelan style) with a large side of shoestring fries (they were crispy too). I'm a big fan of tostones (think fried green tomatoes but plantains instead of tomatoes) so order of them as well as tequenos (cheese sticks with a very thin breading quite different than the average cheesestick and franky so much better) and finally a side order of fries. I should have asked because I *thought* it was yucca fries but they weren't and actually weren't even the crispy shoestring style either but thicker and not the best (only disappointing part of our order). Superb. I read on their Facebook that there is a lot of new options specifically types of arepas but we didn't try any....maybe next time.

    Empanadas,Patacon

Was in the neighborhood and needed something different. Looked on google of places near me and this place popped up. Went in and the place was clean. Staff was friendly and the food was amazing. Had empanadas to start one of each flavor shredded pork, beef, cheese and ground beef. All very flavorful pork was the best. Then I had the Patacon and man was it good!! Huge portion couldn't finish so flavorful and cooked to protection. In other places I've been they sometimes overcook the plantains but not here it was cooked perfect not to hard not to soft. My wife had the other item pictured and said it was delicious but I can't remember the name of it. Definitely a hidden gem attached to the same building as a gas station. Really glad we stopped in!

It's the first bowl listed on the menu.

I'm tempted not to leave a review because this place is a hidden gem! Ignore the outside...as soon as you walk in you are greeted with a smile and feel right at home. The food is always fresh and authentic! It's the real deal. Last time I ordered one of the bowls. There are no wrong choices!!

Small Sancocho comes with a small portion of rice on the side.

Saturdays are for Sancocho... and Chamos Arepas does not disappoint with their amazing, rich, and flavorful Sancocho. Thankfully, they have a small and large size deoebding on your appetite. Get the small if you are like me and still want room for your awesome Ground Beef Empanada on the side.

A must try. Marinas (forgive me if I've misspelled your name!) greeted me with a big friendly smile at the door. I ordered tequeños and an arepa pabellón. Both were amazing!

Simply the best and most authentic Venezuelan restaurant south of the James River in the Richmond area. They have an amazing sancocho on the weekends!

    Reina Pepeada! deliciosa!!

can't get any more authentic than this!! service was perfection and the gaita music and hallacas to go made my heart happy!

I landed on the Pabellon Arepa which had shredded beef, black beans, cheese and plantains.... They deffffffffff needed to strain them black beans a lot more and distribute the ingredients more because it wasn't just messy, it was atomic bomb messy. I needed 100 napkins and a knife and fork to get through it. It was pretty tasty though! My hubs got the pulled pork with avocado, def not as messy and it was pretty good. We also got the cheese sticks appetizer, I would say this was just okay. It was their take on mozzarella sticks essentially. My friend ordered the Cachapas Richmonder.... It was SO SO GOOD! This tidy little Latino market carries many Hispanic, Mexican and South American products. Being of Cuban descent, I frequently head to this site for Goya products, including rice, black beans, plantains, Adobo spices, coffee, Maria cookies, fresh fruits and veggies, tomato items, empanada shells and my "never be without" Mojo Criollo Goya marinade. This marinade truly is the spice of life and I use it in many of my recipes! You will also find baked goods, household items, and sundries at this store. There's a deli/butcher in the back and a frozen food section. There's also a small restaurant and pupuseria serving Latin fare, from Cuban sandwiches to tacos to tostones to tamales to yucca to soups/sides and more. Once inside, you can pick where to sit. If it's hot outside, I recommend the back tables where the AC unit sits on a window. I went two days in a row and sat in the front and then the back and it was much better in the back. The menu had many options, so we decided to order the meat and cheese PUPUSA and TAQUITOS CATRACHOS. I don't think the taquitos come with rice and beans, but I got them anyways because I had asked, so maybe this was an exception. The pupusas were very good. They come with cabbage on the side to put on top and they gave me this red salsa to add. It is a little runny not the consistency of ketchup and not spicy, but it's good. The TAQUITOS CATRACHOS were crunchy and filling. The rice and beans tasted fresh. Only complaint was the cheese on the salad it came with, it didn't smell great. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to smell, but I didn't like it, so didn't eat it.
