This rating is strictly for their billing practices and lack of transparency, not their services. My wife asked them if they could assess our sprinklers. There wasn't any discussion of pricing or fee-based services, and no contract was signed. After spending 1.25 hours of tweaking sprinkler heads and inspecting them and not sure what else (my wife seems to be satisfied with that part), they sent an invoice for $175/hour, blindsiding us. After complaining they gave us a small discount. I don't think anyone's time should be free, but the rate seems very excessive considering it suddenly emerged after the fact without a defined engagement. Update: I should also point out that, should you leave a negative review, you might get a call, not to 'make things right' - but to be asked to remove the review and try to justify their side of the story. Then you might get a public reply in yelp where they may mention your career, marital status, your hourly rate, a patronizing 'wonderful for you', a relative mocking of your career choice, and a mocking of your investment in your business. read more

Here are photos. One is what our back hill looked like minus the 2 pine trees before we became a customer of Champion. Another photo is what hill looks like now. Those are all weeds. The 2 myrtles at the bottom of the hill were planted in honor of my late father. It breaks my heart that Champion Landscape took no care to something that was so important to me. I walked the property with Micah and explained what I expected. We have been taken completely advantage of. The other photo is a picture of how I feel they weeded. Sprayed an area that ended up killing half of my shrubs. The lack of maintenance is going to end up costing us $1500 to fix. I am incredibly upset & heart broken. We have put so much love into our yard for the 19 years we have lived here and it kills me that we actually paid Champion to get our yard in the sad shape that it is in today. Click on photos. Nothing ticks me off more than when a company's first contact with you states that they have a minimum. I'm sorry, this isn't a delivery from my favorite chinese restaurant. What that tells me is that you can't be bothered with any old job. I reached out to this company for an estimate and after 2 days they reply with, " Thanks so much for contacting us! We received your information through our website. The minimum for one time projects is $1000. I would like to schedule a time for our rep to review your property. The week of March 4/2-4/9 are mornings or afternoons best for your schedule?" First of all, I didn't say it was a one-time project! I said I needed a drainage solution for my back yard. It could be $500, $5K or $15k. Why not come out and see before you start telling people that you can't be bothered unless it's more than a thousand. Remember the day when a company would say no job is too little??? Well, CHAMPION LAWN CARE I'll take my business elsewhere. This whole scenario reminds me of Pretty Woman when she goes into the clothing store and they won't help her because she looks like she doesn't have enough money to shop there. I need new retaining walls, a new stone patio, new sod, and tons of shrubs/plants. However, I can't do all that until there is a drainage solution. So, the entire project is probably going to cost $20k +. In the words of Julia Roberts, "Big Mistake. Big. HUGE!" I'll take my new home equity line and keep it moving. First year was good. Past two years consistent problems. Bushes trimmed at wonky angles. spraying flowers and bushes we want with weed killer. Trimming rose bush in half. Trimming 1 foot tall Japanese maple tree down to ground (4 months after being planted). Trimming grapevine bush (with all the leaves still on it, NOT during winter while it's dormant) to ground BUT leaving the other side of the fence covered in ivy and other weedy vines overgrown. Not edging ivy for 6 months. Not pruning bush in front yard. Stated they would replace maple after they reviewed but never got a call back. Called a week later to find out what's going on. No call. Stopped a guy in my yard, 3 weeks later, to make sure they won't cut what we replaced it with down again. Very apologetic. We let it go. Men are very polite but killing my plants, pruning some bushes at weird angles, and not pruning others isn't worth the price. Perhaps if there was a better response to killing the plants either by spraying or removing we would have kept the service. But management does not care read more

I've been a customer for a while and the service seems to have just dropped off. No customer service, no follow up, and must have personnel shortages so if it rains the day they were to show up then they often don't come at all that week....No notice and I'm the one who has to call and chase them down each time. Got quotes from several local providers and Champion came in with a competitive price that INCLUDES fertilizer/chemical treatments. The lawn care is as good as my old provider but for a much better value as I had to fork extra money to a different company for chemical treatments before. read more

Micah and his team weren't the cheapest, but they came well reviewed from my neighbors. I needed them to perform a masonry project on a house I had just purchased, so I did need to pinch my pennies, but wanted someone qualified. My walkway and front steps weren't built right the first time, so I didn't want to find myself in the same position a year down the road. Why Champion? *Flexibility* The quote was broken down line item by line item, at my request. Since it exceeded my budget, I offered to do the demolition myself if he'd take that off the final price tag. He did so with no negotiation. *Convenience* I'd just been through a move, but hadn't had much time in my own house yet. In fact, I was out of town when I called and scheduled Micah and his team to give me a quote. He swung by and drew up the plans based only on our conversation and hit his quoted price without going over. Well he did have to increase the total project by $64 because they needed to add more crusheron, but that's only because the previous contractor had used none when compacting the soil! It was an outdoor project, so they worked when I was out of town and didn't interrupt when I was in town. *Communication* Missy at the front office was able to tell me when the guys would show up, answer questions, and always responded the same day. This was a multi-day project, and she told me each time I should expect them. She also contacted me about my satisfaction when the job was complete, before charging my card. *Professionalism* These guys showed up on a Saturday to get the job ready so the concrete could be poured on Monday. They did this because I was going out of town for Thanksgiving and I wanted to be there to make sure the walkway was built the way we expected since it has a curve. Additionally, part of the project that I asked to do myself was adding drainage from my gutter spout, under the new walkway, and down the hill. I bought the materials and got started doing my part when Nelson pointed out that the materials I chose wouldn't withstand the pressure from the concrete. He wrote me a list for new materials so I could get the right parts from Home Depot and helped me do it correctly -- mind you this had been removed from their end of the contract. Genuine class. The workers were very understanding when my 2 year old daughter stuck her hands in their finished cement project. *Quality* I asked Micah to build me the same steps I already had, but correctly -- no 10.5" steps, no eroding walkway, and all to match my current stoop with stone and stucco. It looks great! They cleaned up their mess and mine and replaced the dirt covered slope of my yard with matching mulch. A week later it's like they were never here, except I now have a new walkway and steps. *Price* Although I could have spent less and gotten less, any stone mason or cement company was more. If you're not looking for a company with a $5,000 minimum charge for a project, this is the best. Certainly better than a general contractor or handyman. Overall, I'm satisfied with every portion of this project and highly endorse this company and Micah. read more

Disappointing service. Be advised, Champion cuts corners wherever possible. They recently visited and blew the leaves on the lawn on top of areas that they claim they don't cover such as ivy, mulch and into other such areas instead of picking them up. They also had a truck full of leaf bags and commented that they're full and can't do anything more until next time, "call the office." I'm going to start looking for other providers ASAP. read more

Great service and they go the extra mile.. I asked if they would clean off my trampoline (it has one of those big safety nets so it is hard to clean off) and now they clean it off every time! The company is horrible with maintaining routes and their crew is inconsistent with showing up and performing the services I pay them for. I've used them for several years for lawn maintenance and they've been great. The crew that we have servicing our yard now is wonderful. Arturo is the crew lead and I hope he and his crew will be servicing my yard from here on out! My lawn looks great when they mow, edge, blow and trim my shrubs. It's so nice to come home to a lawn that is already done. I don't normally see the crew as I'm at work but if they come while I'm home the crew is always friendly and attentive. Like with any business, sometimes there are bumps along the way if the crew is new at the beginning of the season. I've dealt primary with Magan at the office and she has been super addressing any issues and responds back quickly if I send an email inquiry. read more

They only do year contracts (which if they had bothered being courteous they may have needs- they just left me a voicemail without bothering to talk to me-- VM was left after 7pm from a cell phone? These people did a marginal job. Their employees were observed looking in my windows. When I terminated their services I paid what I believed was final amount due. They wouldn't deposit as it was marked final payment. We have disputed the final payment for months now. I acquiesced and paid an additional month- two in total. It was marked final payment and was deposited and cleared. They have a collection agency that harasses me with daily phone calls and a threatening tone. I have paid the amount in dispute ($1000 plus) and they are still trying to charge/collect a penalty of over $1300. read more

Got a quote that was competitively priced but then the work was not completed thoroughly. Paid deposit and then never received an invoice for remainder until I got a letter from an attorney stating I needed to pay in 10 days or legal action would be taken. read more
