Note: I am giving this place 4 stars not because it's an amazing bar and is perfect, but because it's EXACTLY what it trys to be. A sorta divey pool hall and bar, in a strip mall that could use a facelift, that doesn't claim to be anything else. Firstly, the reviews here saying that the parking lot feels like you'll get stabbed, and that it's unsafe and scary and divey, have clearly never been to a so-called dive bar in Las Vegas, or anywhere else. The parking lot has a well-lit Sonic drive thru right across the street for goodness sakes! Is it in a strip mall with other things? Sure, but incredibly unsafe? Far from it. The bar itself is definitely a dive... The carpets DEFINITELY need to be replaced 100% (that's really the major thing that dropped me to 4 stars TBH), no doubt about it, and some of the furniture is all over the place and mismatched. The place has seen better days, but I found everything to be clean and functioning, and the pool tables and equipment were in good condition and very fairly priced ($5 an hour for pool is quite perfectly reasonable). They have cold beer, cheap well drinks and quick service. I didn't feel unwelcome and the crowd for Karaoke night with Dave's Original Super Karaoke (which is why we chanced the poor reviews as a whole) was diverse and fun and everyone seemed to be really into it and supportive. All in all having been to a lot of "divey" pool and karaoke bars in the last few years, I have to say that Champions is one of the better ones and more comfortable ones i've been to. I was visiting from out of town and for the price the vibe was cool, plenty of pool tables and the drinks cold

Ended up at this place on Saturday evening when all other pool halls in the area were occupied by league matches. With the condition this place is in, I think they should give away free pool because they aren't worth paying a penny. Carpet is shabby, balls are chipped, tables unclean, cloth torn, and cues broken and for this they charge $5/hour per person for pool. It's a total waste. Bartender was courteous but I would not recommend this place to anyone. Even if they offer me free pool, I won't waste my time playing there. read more

It's hard for me to recommend this place, as it is a) totally disgusting, and b) in a terrible location, in this ridiculous Valley of the Ashes between Cary and Raleigh. Also, something about the parking lot makes you feel like you just *might* get shot or at least stabbed. HOWEVER, The karaoke on Saturday nights is great. Now, I like karaoke a particular way - with a large group of friends, but also in front of a large group of strangers ... And let's just say, the patrons here put the *strange* in strangers... Then, when it's over, the walk to your car is a little gross ... There's a Sonic in the parking lot, one of your drunk ass people is likely to hit that on the way out. read more

First this place is in a bad shopping center. I went by to just see what it is all about. There was next to nobody there and they wanted to charge me a membership fee. I have been to other Champion's bars and they don't do that. The guy was rude once I told him I am not interested in a membership. I now remember why people say this place sucks. If you want a low class bar that is empty and dirty, it's your place. read more

Pool is cheap. Drinks are cheap and strong. Karaoke is a blast. Can't ask for much more. Some tables could use new felt and the carpet is a little messed up but everyone was really nice. No major complaints. read more

It is a dive bar, but it's supposed to be. The bartenders are friendly and provide great service, the owner is a great guy, and the Saturday night karaoke is the highlight of the week. The only major con I can come up with for this place is I have more than once witnessed drug deals going down in the men's room. This happens more during rainy days and in the winter than on nice days or the summer. I know the management has been made aware of it, but it happens nonetheless. It's kind of hard to police that without parking someone in the rest room full time, though. If they could get that one thing cleaned up, I would give this place another star. read more

Had fun with my family playing pool. However, everything else was mediocre, the bartender had a terrible attitude and did not want to give us the pricing upfront. For a Friday night, there were about three other groups in there. I was expecting a larger group since it is so close to NC State's campus. It is known for its Karaoke so maybe on Karaoke night, there is a larger crowd. I will not be going back to find out. If I hear that there are nicer people working there I will go back. read more

Honestly I feel betrayed by this place. I had some problems with the way a company they hired for Karaoke treated me. I did not agree with a voting process during a competition and because I posted this on FB I was banned from the bar itself. Free Speech is apparently not allowed in Champs. I have liver disease and they poked fun at me for not drinking. They called me fat and vilified me on their personal pages. I brought friends with me who spent a total of over 200.00 that night alone. Erica had a 70.00 tab herself. They accused us of "sucking on ice cubes". I am disturbed by the blatant lack of disrespect and appreciation this place has for it's patrons. They were so irate that the person running Karaoke and his wife and child went on my FB page and called me fat and a terrible singer. His wife took it upon herself to not only call me names but add posts to her own profile asking others to vilify me for daring to state my opinion (no names of course). This is all because I dare post that an anonymous bar had a poor choice in voting methods for a contest that was offering the equivalent to a 1,200.00 prize. You can all be mad about it but when money is involved it is important to be as fair as possible. I frequented this bar buying sodas all night long for nearly two years as much as 4 days out of the week. They practice bad business. If a person has a problem with your business you can be angry quietly but do the diplomatic and "good business thing to do" by staying quiet or giving constructive comments. Attacking the person (personally) is the most dishonorable thing you can do in a debate (Ad hominem). I would understand if I had hurt feelings or attacked anyone personally but I was literally banned because i gave a poor review. You must be willing to take criticism with a grain of salt and not get emotional about it. I am 30, Female, Non-drinker (medical reasons), Educated Graduate. I regularly played pool at all three of the Champions locations for two years. If you have any questions please let me know. I do not have a personal problem with anyone here. They are all good people at heart, I am sure. However, attacking my weight, disability and banning me was not professional one iota. read more

This is the closest pool hall to where I live. We've tried on multiple occasions to make this our neighborhood bar, but the pool is just ridiculously expensive - $5 per person, per hour! Way too expensive for me to make this my after work stop off a few nights a week. Forget about inviting some friends to join you in a game or two. I would understand paying that in a nice pool hall with well maintained tables, but this place is a dive. So, instead we choose to go the extra few miles to Jack Piner's. Coin tables, $1.00 a game, and we can afford to invite all the friends we want. read more

Peobably the worst bar ever. It smells like a cross between the back seat of a NYC taxi cab in August and a atrip club. It's dingy ans reaks of despair. Two day's after my visit I was informed by my bank of fraudulent charges on my Debit card- make sure you pay in cash! read more
