Went to Easter service earlier this year and I was quite taken back by how little they mentioned anything to do with Easter or Christ. There was a very weird Star Wars Easter theme and no images of Christ anywhere. There were a few passages from the Bible in which the "pastor" spoke about unrelated things. He went off on weird tangents and told jokes a good portion of the time. There was a solid 5 minutes spent talking about Jesus and the rest of the hour was filled with talk about membership, becoming a member, being a part of "something bigger than yourself." He was tricky in that he left it open to interpretation that Jesus wants you to be a member of the church, but others who are aware of the prosperity gospel all know he means more butts in the seats, therefor more money in his pockets. He was wearing a really nice suit though, nice watch and shoes as well. Curious as to where he buys his suits. The merchandise store is also filled with propaganda books from famous prosperity preachers. If you're a Christian, hold traditional core beliefs and recognize that hell exists and there are charlatans among us everywhere, this church isn't for you. It's nothing but feel good messages designed for grooming you towards donating. On the other hand, if you're into weird themes, stand up comedy and a very weird movie set type stage set up, go check it out, it's quite bizarre. Just don't drink their "coffee". read more

From the parking lot all the way in i was filled with joy. At the front i was created and introduced to many nice friendly faces. They gave me reserved seating because i am new. They even give you vip parking first timers. The music is so loud outside. Very inviting. Church service hasn't started yet but I am already so pumped. The service today started with a beautiful voice singing the national anthem. It felt like I was at a Christian music concert. The service lasted just an hour. The message was delivered by kevin gerald over a big screen I believe he was live in Bellevue but I was told he was normally here I had to come back to this review to add in the fact that the lead pastor wrote a book called , " mind monsters". By far the best thing that ever landed in my hands. I have not put it down. read more

As someone who is older than 2/3 of the people who attend, I love Champions Centre church and have been attending for a few years now. They make me feel young and more alive than ever! The work they do in the community on so many different fronts is pretty astronomical. I don't know how they do it, but the pastors seem to support many programs tirelessly. Each week I hear the importance of diving into my Bible, knowing what the Lord has for me through His Word. It's not a place for "religion," but for people who want to know who Jesus is and to have a relationship with Jesus and with church "family" who love and care about each of us. There's the main (huge!) church in Tacoma (they put on a huge "Scrooge" play each Christmas that's mind-blowing!), and satelite churches in Bellevue, Yakima, and by the Joint Base Lewis-McChord area (Dupont, WA) who all receive the word from a really cool and relevant pastor, Pastor Kevin Gerald. He and his wife Sheila are the real deal. You won't hear judgment and guilt, but instead, it's about grasping the reality of God's love, kindness, finding our purpose, and following the principles of God's Word to create a life we can each thrive in. I've been to a lot of churches. I'm so glad to have found a home I can call my forever church home. read more

Champions Centre is truly amazing. I had a once in a lifetime experience that I will forever hold in my heart. Okay that sounded cheesy. But you know what? I learned much in the short amount of time I had been placed at this church by God. I come from a life of attending smaller "everyone knows everyone" Korean community churches... so coming here was a dramatic change for me. I do not think I have heard of this church beforehand but what I do know is, the people are great. Never have I been greeted so heartwarmingly as this church. The first service I attended was on aSaturday night. There is a funny story behind how I ended up stepping out of my comfort zone to attend this service. Anyways, the service message was a heartfelt message that had opened up a new chapter in my life. Little did I know, that the Saturday service would be the same message on Sunday? In my other churches we had a smaller Friday night service and a full Sunday service so I thought Champions Centre had the same concept. Nope, two service times, one message. I mean it didn't hurt to hear the same message twice. I kept attending for a few more weeks and in that time, I also attended a few Celebrate Recovery sessions ( Newcomers 101 &102). Basically this program is for those who are broken and needs healing from God and the community's support. It truly is a wonderful experience everyone dhould take advantage of as a resource available to anyone who seeks help. I will keep the details out so you can see for yourself C: I even attended their volunteer meeting for the church which is another great way to get involved. Amazing. Really amazing whst this church can do for the community we live in. However, this church ended up not being for me to call "home". I believe God has yet to take me to my destination in this journey but have stopped by this church as a learning experience. I will definitely stop by once in awhile! We stopped in tonight for the 6 pm service. Upon entering the sanctuary for service were greeted by bouncers that would not let you sit down because the music had already begun. The music was so loud you couldn't hear the person next to you. We decided to leave as not being allowed to find a seat and made to stand did not seem welcoming for new visitors. The fact they purposefully blocked folks from finding a seat seemed rude and unwelcoming, especially for pregnant, elderly and other disabled persons. We won't be visiting again. read more

Love my church more than anything. I walked in here six years ago extremely nervous and doubtful... and I haven't left. I avoided church for so long because I was tired of being shamed. SHAMED for not reading my Bible as often as the next person. SHAMED for mistakes I'd made in the past. SHAMED because my prayer life wasn't as good as it could be. SHAMED because I didn't give. I expected the same treatment when I came here, to be honest (I was there as a favor to a coworker), and I was so incredibly pleased and impressed that Champions Centre stands for the exact OPPOSITE of everything I'd known in the past. This church is full of imperfect people and stories of God's grace and redemption. You can go to CR on a Tuesday night and here the testimony of an attendee, or you can sit in a main service and hear about the testimony of church LEADER. This church always teaches about the grace of God, and once you can truly wrap your mind around the fact that NOTHING you do disqualifies you in His eyes... game over. :) Amazing praise and worship (if you prefer a hymnal or organ-led music, this probably won't be your favorite, haha) led by a very talented and a very REAL team of people. Pastor Kevin is the best teacher in the world. He preaches straight from the Bible, but always uses relevant and timely examples that make you feel like he's talking directly to you. The volunteers here serve heart and soul; from the guy dancing and smiling in the parking lot, to the lady handing you your coffee... you can just tell people genuinely love being there. So refreshing. I met my husband here, we got married here, we dedicated our brand new son here... and I'm so excited to be apart of this huge family! If you're looking for a church in the northwest, come to Champions Centre. Locations in Tacoma, Bellevue, and now a new service at Stadium HS in North Tacoma. I consider Champions Centre my "home away from home". I say that because I live on the other side of the country, but the love of God that radiates from this place knows NO limits! I first became connected with Champions Centre as I was researching Bible Colleges and came across Champions Centre College. I ended up enrolling as a student and am in the process of completing an online degree, but more than that, I truly feel like I have made a second family with the amazing people that call Champions Centre home! I was even able to meet these fantastic people in person when I traveled to Tacoma for their annual Team Church Conference!! Thanks to the 3 hour time difference between Washington state and Washington, D.C., I am able to watch their live streamed service after I am home from my home church's service on Sunday morning. Pastor Kevin never fails to deliver an inspired word from God that touches my heart with its relevance and truth. I am so thankful for what God is doing in the Pacific Northwest through Champions Centre and I cannot speak highly enough of those who serve and give all they have to love and empower God's children! read more

Wow I would give a zero if I could! This is NOT a God filled church, it's a "hey look at us, we have a loud band, loud music we draw people in with our young pastors"! We are looking for a home church and from the moment we walked in I felt like walking out! The music blaring in the foyer so loud we couldn't even hear what the welcome staff was saying. We needed earplugs during worship and didn't feel any praising happening. Then a young Pastor from Bellevue got up to preach in his tight skinny jeans telling us the word "suck"in his household is a naughty word but continued to use it 4 times in his message hmmm?! His message was one of the worse I've ever heard. Lastly another pastor gets up to plead the tithing bit and went on and on how he and his wife give, tithe, go beyond and give even more so the church can be around forever. No thank you, I'm looking for a home God filled church not a concert every weekend with Pastors trying to show off their fashion. read more

I was raised as a Catholic all my life but left after I graduated from high school. I've attended four other churches throughout my life and I made Champion Center as my home church. The people are amazing and I felt comfortable when I walked in through the doors for the first time. The church focuses on a lot of participation and volunteer which is why the church flourishes and feels like 'our own' because we contribute and support the churches success. I am from out of town, and I have attended Champions Centre conferences for several years now. My first impression, is that I can't get over how friendly everyone is for the size of the church! The music is amazing, the Starbucks coffee shop on site is fantastic, and Kevin Gerald is one of the best bible teachers I have ever heard. This is not a church, it's a very profitable business. I had attended this church twice and what I saw was gimmicks, tricks and idol-worship, misleading to the teachings of Christ. Here's what I experienced: - There's a Starbucks in the lobby and the person I came to church with me said, "it makes it so easy to invite people to church because you can tell them you're going to meet for coffee and then say, 'well, are you coming into church with me?'." I don't think deception is ever a useful tool for bringing more followers to Jesus. - When I followed my friend to drop her son off at Sunday school, there were multiple gaming consoles and TVs where the kids could play video games. So it would be no wonder as to why kids would love to come to church; they can play video games! - Worship opened with "Beautiful Day" by U2; a secular song that is NOT about God. So worship seems to be about what the people will like, rather than glorifying God's grace and the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. - There was so much buzz about the pastor. "He flies in on a helicopter, because he needs to speak to two churches every Sunday."..."They have his service streamed live across the country." The pastor is presented as an idol or god (empasis on the little-g). Exodus 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me." On top of that, his sermons had very little to do with scripture and left me starving spiritually. I don't come to church to get a motivational speech and feel good about being mediocre in my faith. I come to enhance my knowledge and relationship with God, help and love others and TRY to live like Jesus (though I fail at it daily). - The offering was presented by the almighty Pastor's daughter, who said, "if you give to God, he multiplies that gift and gives it back to you! When I gave my biggest offering to God, he blessed me the greatest." While there is truth to that, that's NOT why Jesus urged us to give. Tithes and offerings are an exercise of faith and God would like us to give because we believe he will take our generosity and multiply that to others. In Matthew 6:2-3, Jesus said, "...when thou doest thing alms, do not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may have glory of men. Verily I say until you, They have their reward." So I would expand that to say that if you're giving in order to get something back, you'll probably get your reward, but it will not be in heaven. One should give, even if it's $0.50, to help others with no expectation earthly reward; God will multiply your offering as he did with the feeding of 5,000 (more like 8,000 when you study up on that). - Lastly, I'll wrap this up by saying that the ONLY time the Bible tells us of Jesus becoming violent is when he's throwing out the money changers in the temple. 1 Timothy 6:10 says "for the LOVE of money is the root of all evil". The church is NOT meant to be a cash cow! The name says it all! "Champions Center"; no mention of God's grace, Jesus' sacrifice, the church, Faith, etc. read more

I am a raised Catholic but I have grown to absolutely love Champions Centre when a family member invited us in 2014, at a time when I needed to get closer to God. My kids love it when we get the chance to go, although when we're not there; I stay tuned Live stream and continually watch the messages from the past to current when I need refreshed reminders. God is Good and Champions Centre speaks to that and truly brings you closer to God. Pastor Kevin Gerald is real and so diverse at that when he speaks the word of God. They are so welcoming, love the childcare classes(I had 3 kids at the time, now four :). I love the music, full of God's blessed talents! I have relocated in 2015 to Vancouver, WA and I can't seem to find a pastor/church as great as Pastor Gerald and makes me feel like I am Home! So, I will remain loyal to CC*. Going live stream now! Champion Center Tacoma is the most incredible church in the northwest. It is a place where people can go and get relevant teaching that anyone could apply to their everyday lives. The message will challenge and inspire you to obtain the type of life you would want for you and for your family. I am so thankful to the Champions Center for how they have inspired me to be a better me, allowing me to see the life I was called to live through Christ.
