When someone thinks of Arizona State University, they often think of the Tempe Campus and a large…read moreschool experience. What they may not realize is that while that experience is great for many people, yet others may be looking for a different experience. The ASU Polytechnic Campus is smaller than the Tempe Campus yet it's a community where every student has the potential to feel connected with resources and it is still large enough that there is usually something happening. It's growing as a campus and has transformed from a former Air Force base to a commuter campus to a residential campus in recent years with over 1,000 bed spaces living on-campus in traditional residence halls and single-shared or family houses. Opened in 1996, the ASU Polytechnic Campus was founded as ASU East on the former Williams Air Force Base in Mesa. The newest residence halls Century Hall opened in 2012 while Lantana Hall opened in 2000. The campus has strong partnerships with Chandler-Gilbert Community College and the surrounding Mesa area with the Mesa Gateway Airport right next door. The ASU Preparatory Middle and High Schools are right on the ASU Polytechnic Campus, too. While ASU Polytechnic is the home of numerous academic colleges and programs, they are known for their engineering programs and aviation programs and flight centers. As the campus continues to grow each year, the number of buildings on campus continue to increase. In addition to academic buildings, there are student services available in the Academic Center (home to a computer lab and the library), the Administration Building, several of the Quad buildings, and the Student Union. There is also the Simulator Building and the Technology Center along with residence halls and houses, a dining hall (also home to the Multicultural Communities of excellence and a small marketplace), and the Sun Devil Fitness Complex. There is also the ASU Charter monument. Needless to say, there is something for everyone on the ASU Polytechnic Campus. At the Polytechnic Campus, every student can drive their own experience as they engage in the events and resources on-campus while attending classes, getting an on-campus job, landing an internship or full-time job, joining clubs and organizations, attending many free events and activities, and so much more. The Dean of Students Office (in the Academic Center) and the many student services offices at ASU Polytechnic are always there for students, and it's easy to find your way towards graduation and your future when taking advantage of these resources. I look forward to seeing what comes next on such an engaging campus such as the ASU Polytechnic Campus in the coming years!

After a couple years of homeschooling we knew it was time for her to go back to in person . Best decision ever to enroll her at Gilbert Christian. She comes home everyday always talking about how good her day was. She loves her teachers and has made great friendships. Being able to have her attend school and have the freedom to speak about her beliefs is amazing. What's more amazing is the partnership we have with the staff and that they intentionally pray for the kids, teach truth in love and want Gods best for them all. Truly blessed to be a part of Gilbert Christian! So happy we said yes!

That was not our experience. Beneath the polished tours and Christian branding, leadership at this campus proved ineffective, dismissive, and unwilling to meaningfully address serious concerns raised by families. Many parents are drawn to a Christian school hoping to shield children from age-inappropriate influences; ironically, in our personal experience, our children were exposed to more inappropriate language and behavior here than they had been in a Chandler public school, with limited administrative response. Administration frequently emphasized high demand to attend, yet from our firsthand experience and conversations with other parents, just as many families appeared to be leaving. Academic quality and classroom professionalism raised serious questions about how teachers are hired, their qualifications, and why turnover seemed high. Tuition and a Christian label do not automatically guarantee a better education, stronger values, or responsible leadership. This review is shared in good faith to encourage families to look beyond appearances and ask direct questions about leadership accountability, discipline policies, teacher hiring practices, and retention before enrolling.
