This place is located on Juniper which is on the East side off Lindsay between Guadalupe and Elliot. We used to come here occasionally when the kids were young to ride the train and other amusement park mini rides. Other people have posted photos. There are several parking areas for the different activities. We were there for XC training. There are bathrooms near the playground, important. And some pretty good running hills which are hard to find in AZ. read more

The park itself is awesome, but the kiddie rides/train is run by the grumpiest, non-kid friendly guy they could've possibly hired. Saw him snap at a child and embarrass the heck out of him, was impatient with my 3 & 5 yo grandsons for not waiting in the right spot for a ride, and just an overall attitude of not wanting to be working with children AT ALL. No smile, no kindness, just doing his job, like he was doing you a favor by being there. When he left the park, he drove through the parking lot dangerously fast. This guy should NOT be working with children!! read more

This park is pretty nice. There is effectively 3 playgrounds - orange, blue, and yellow. I have two kids - 3yo and 5yo - and like to rank playgrounds on how friendly they are for these ages. The yellow. This is my least favorite playground of the 3. It has 2 levels and 6 slides. Sounds great... Until you realize that 5 of the slides are only accessible by one ladder, and it isn't even an easy ladder, my 5yo is about the limit. A creative or tall 4yo might be able to get to the upper deck but that is it. The ladder is basically too tall for parents to fully help their kids too. One of the upper deck slides has some twists and I've seen a few kids bounce their way down and almost get tossed off half way. It is basically safer for the kids to climb up the spiral slide, and it is the only way my 3yo can get to the upper deck. Terrible design and as a parent it strikes fear in me. Orange. This one is a mix. The young kids can do half of the playground while the second half is kinda parkour-ish. The best playground is the blue slide, the one by the bathrooms and centrally located. Most parts are easy enough for both ages, or at least you can assist smaller children without heart attacks. read more

THEN if an adult wants to ride with their kids on the ghetto train, it's 2.50 per ticket and you need 2 each. I remember when this was cheap and actually fun. One of our friends planned for a play date at this park. The park is huge and there are so many things to do. There is a nice water body going around the park with ducks, waterfall, bridge. Also some rides for kids like train, carousel, mini ferry wheel and couple other rides. You could buy tickets at the counter. You could either buy unlimited rides or buy per ride. There are many play areas, soccer field, picnic spot, Ramada's. A great location for getting some photos clicked too. Fantastic park. Two playgrounds - one geared towards much younger children and one made for kids who are a little older. There's also a mini-amusement park there and beautiful waterfalls. Great for your kids or nephews and nieces. Our niece loved the train ride and the older kids' play area. We also got some birdseed for a quarter and fed some ducks and grackles. There are several ball fields, public bathrooms, batting cages, and a skate park. Plenty of Ingress portals if you play the game as we do. All around the park, there are open grassy areas and even a soccer field way down the hill - although we were visiting on a rainy day and it looked more like a lake. Terrific place for a play day, picnic lunch, or to take photos in a very scenic setting. Worth the drive over from Mesa for us. read more

We got to ride the train and go around the park, it was a lot of fun. The park was so beautiful. They have water and waterfalls and ducks and birds enjoying the beautiful scent with us. They had a little machine for 25 cents to buy some bird food. So we did. It was fun feeding g the birds. They we went to play on the playground. It was a pretty day to be outside. The grounds were really clean and there was seating. Picnic tables and shade for everyone. I will come back for another picnic day out again really soon. It was great seeing so many families outside again. read more

The layout is beautiful! Love the playgrounds and the path to walk on. Our girls run the hills and love the openness of the park.

We rented a ramada for two hours to have breakfast. I really live this park .I wish we lived closer so we could ride the train when it opens. It was such a nice day everybody walking around , people fishing. The ramada was clean. There was a bbq, we didn't use it. There was a trash can near by. The ramada was Judy's north point. For anybody looking for it , if you're in the parking lot looking at the carousel with a lake behind it, walk left around the lake. Judy's point north and south are both on the left side of that lake if you're looking at the carousel with the lake behind the carousel. For a future person looking at Judy's South pointe it's not shaded but there is a tree there so we were there between nine and 11 and it was shaded from that tree don't know if anyone needs to hear that hope they help somebody. If we ever need a park party again we will definitely go to Freestone it was also very convenient to pay for the reservation online read more

Great park with everything - a couple playgrounds, tennis courts, soccer fields, skate park, batting cages, pond for fishing, walking paths, pretty waterfalls for pictures, ramadas for picnics, etc. But what sets this apart from other parks is the mini amusement park they have with a lil train, carousel, and a few other kiddie rides. You can buy a pass for unlimited rides or per ride. They also sell some amusement park food there like popcorn, popsicles, and drinks. * One star off because dear lawd can someone please give the sad looking carousel horsies some love. They need major TLC with a new paint job and sanding. My girls sat on on them as I crossed my fingers the horsies didn't fall apart under them. Actually the other rides could use a lil TLC too while you're at it. Thaaanks! read more

This is a really nice park with most everything including baseball, soccer fields, duck lagoons, gorgeous hummingbirds(one of my favorite animals) and even an archery range. It's a large park that looks well maintained. It's named after Maricopa County Supervisor Thomas Freestone. It may be the best park in Gilbert but I haven't checked them all yet. Nothing was open but we really only went to fly my new drone around and my so my daughter could drive her remote control car around. There weren't too many people there but it is New Year's Day and it was chilly out. The park is nice. Awesome Park For The Family! Duck Ponds, Multiple Playgrounds, A Small Carnival With Rides... This is definitely one of the nicest parks around and is great to grab some birdseed and watch the kids play with all the wildlife coming for the feast. I am really happy this park exists, it is a gem to the community! There are different playgrounds here for different age groups which is really nice. The duck ponds are a great draw, not always looking very clean, maybe some algae eating fish could help? There is a nice water feature with a little cascading stream feature pouring down into the main pond from the llittle hill. Little train for kids to have rides around the park. Soccer Fields for those seeking that as well. Tennis Courts for those wanting some Tennis Action! Little Carnival: We haven't tried the train ride or the little carnival but it looks like the only run down portion of the park. I tend to steer clear of the little rides because I am a bigger human and don't fit anyway... lol.. The park is a great place to ride bikes to and spend some time. Very well maintained except where city employees drive over the grass in trucks and rut it up after rains... Nice sidewalks and amenities! PS: Some people have made reviews slamming this park because of some of the people visiting at the time of their visit, but that happens everywhere. Kids have accidental pee accidents, sometimes the rough crowds visit the nice part of town... This shouldn't be held against such a nice park. read more

I haven't been here for years and I was surprised to see how run down everything is. The train and the rides need some major attention, and in my opinion are not worth the money. The new playground area was really cool. It seemed much of the park and the lake area are under construction so it will be interesting to see what the overall plan is and what changes. We enjoyed watching the ducks and liked the new playground. But didn't like all the dead grass (sure wish Arizona believed in keeping grass up in the winter) and was disappointed in how run down everything else is. read more

Whilst visiting family in the Phoenix area, Freestone Park was the park chosen to take our Holiday photos. For once in a (long, unknown time) our entire immediate family was together from both coasts and in between. This park appeared to be beautiful and well-maintained. Upon my arrival, there were plenty of ducks, a decent sized pond or lagoon, several year-round carnival rides for the kiddos, and a relaxing waterfall that flows under a bridge. Sounds pretty picturesque, huh? There had to be around six other groups taking pictures at this location. Whether it was family, maternity, quinceñera, or another celebration, they were all here on this random weekday. My silly 'soap box' complaint (and since this is a park and the rating doesn't matter all that much) is that there is a humongous fountain and man-made pond that they probably have to keep filled in the middle of the desert while many places are currently drought ridden... read more

My purpose for visiting Freestone Park was to play some tennis on their tennis courts. Freestone offers four well-lit courts that are all in terrific shape. I did not see any cracks in the concrete and the nets are newer and in great condition. Happy to report that we had a successful birthday party for my 6 yo. The weather was perfect and the rides were just enough for the little ones. It was not crowded and felt as if we almost had the place to ourselves. When we first arrived, there was another party there and the workers had my party down for a later time than I booked. They had already agreed for the earlier party to stay a little later (would've gone into our party time slot) but I got a little frazzled. They jumped and all worked together to make it all work out for all parties involved. I was totally surprised to see the team work together and have such great attitudes. What could've been a disaster, was quickly turned around and was not even a big deal. They helped me set up and cleaned up! My guest enjoyed themselves and the birthday girl had a blast! Definitely recommend them to anyone wanting to throw a party here! read more

Clean even with a overcast in the sky it was a little wet in spots but nice place to relax and get outdoors for a little while. I will definitely go back when it's a little warmer outside. Stumbled upon this gorgeous park while driving in the neighborhood. What a beautiful location! I have never seen anything more clean, maybe because I'm from LA. Completely left impressed with the beauty of this park, surrounded by waterfalls, lakes, a community fishing lake, a bridge, huge fields and multiple playgrounds. Freestone in the quintessential park in Gilbert. Oodles of space for kids to run around, goals for soccer, multiple playgrounds for different age groups, ramadas and picnic tables galore, a miniature train that takes you around the park, gorgeous spots for portrait photography, and clean, well-stocked facilities. This has been my park of choice for several years and I love taking people here for the first time. Freestone also has long, rambling walking trails through the park, wo if you need a good place to stretch your legs and think, there's no better place. Enjoy! read more

Great big park! All varieties of activities to do. This park is clean and really fun for family events, or just a really nice walk around the park. There is ponds, and lots of grass. Batting cages, skatepark, pickle ball, volley ball. Etc. The kids enjoyed the train ride and playgrounds! 10/10 recommend visiting for a little bit, or just to kill some time in Gilbert. Fun park. I have enjoyed many hours on these courts. And I love the foliage surrounding the four courts. The only downside is the lack if divider fencing between courts. And, while the city upkeep of the courts is limited to occasionsional blower action, removing dust and leaves, it's all good for a free tennis location. Lighting is like most city operations, poor. Variety of things to do. Skate Park, batting cages, various playgrounds, softball fields, sand volleyball, and large green open field. They have a good hill that people will use for working out or ice blocking. Large pond with ducks/fishing. Which obviously can sometimes cause a fishy smell. No pickleball, I know this is the new craze and I have friends/family always asking me which parks have pickleball courts. Also have a carousel but can't say I've ever actually seen it in use. read more

This park is huge. It includes 3 different playgrounds, a duck pond, huge fields, and even has a mini amusement park in the back for small children. Only downside is I have a toddler and the playgrounds were more catered to big kids so keep that in mind. A lot of open space for running around, sports, riding bikes, etc read more

We had fun exploring this park. We came on a Saturday and it was packed with people. There was plenty of parking and entertainment for our kids ages 2-11. We didn't try any of the rides because it looked run down for the money it cost. There is also a lot of bird poop and it looked like the park could use a good cleaning. All in all an ok park to spend the weekend at. We probably won't make the trip down from Scottsdale again to visit this park there are just too many other parks that are nicer in my opinion. read more

This park is so family friendly and fun! All the staff is incredibly nice and friendly. Really makes you feel comfortable and want to come back over and over again! My boys absolutely love the rides! Jake (I believe that is his name, usually wears a cowboy hat ) has such a fun and kind energy about him and you can tell he really loves his job! Not to mention how HUGE the park is..playgrounds and lakes with lots of ducks and geese! Definitely recommend this place! read more

Awesome Park, we love almost everything about it but when it comes to one of their main attractions, the kids railroad, they could use a better staff. It's a kids ride and they have a grumpy old man who doesn't seem to like kids as the conductor. Its bitter sweet because you have an awesome, fun park that's excellent for a family day but if your kids want to ride the train, be ready to deal with a bitter old man who yells at kids and gives you the stink eye the whole time.
