A Lifesaver and a Treasure Chandler's Preschool quite literally rescued our family. We suddenly lost our nanny and were scrambling for care when the school had just opened--and we were lucky enough to be one of their very first families. From day one, we felt embraced, supported, and cared for in a way that exceeded all expectations. Our son just graduated from Chandler's and is heading into kindergarten not only confident and excited, but already reading. He was accepted into an excellent private school, and I have no doubt that Chandler's nurturing environment and thoughtfully designed curriculum played a huge role in preparing him. The teachers are warm, engaging, and truly see every child. The director runs the school with such intentionality--making sure the meals are always fresh, organic, and nutritious. The facility itself is immaculately clean and beautifully maintained. You can tell that everything, from the schedule to the classroom setup, is created with early childhood development philosophies in mind. Our younger daughter still attends, and I'm always blown away by the care and quality of education. She has weekly science lessons, cooking projects, and physical activities all seamlessly woven into her day. So much of the learning is hands-on and joyful--my kids often don't want to leave when I come to pick them up! We are endlessly grateful for Chandler's Preschool. *TLDR: Unless you are into Authoritarianism, do not send your children here* Enough time has passed that I am ready to tell my family's story, to spare future families from heartbreak and drama. We spent 7 months of relative peace at Chandler's. There were definitely some pinkish to red flags that I ignored, but childcare in LA can be very difficult to find, so I dismissed my gut feelings. Our family required a preschool that accepted children at 18 months old, and they could accommodate that. I will lead with some brief positive aspects of Chandler's: availability of long hours, homemade and healthy breakfast/ lunch served, and some fairly decent teachers. Here's the ugly: The owner of the school, Carolina Garzzia, leads with an iron fist. Our first meetings with her led me to see someone not to be crossed, and her communication style has always felt very chaotic, non-cohesive, and cold. As an example, she has strong opinions about how long mothers should breastfeed--we found out as someone who took the tour with us and signed her child up ended up backing out at the last minute (losing her deposit) because Ms. Garzzia told her flat-out to stop breastfeeding. While this is not a religious school, the undertones are there (AI Jesus and the babies in heaven on their Instagram have been spotted), and the 2024 Christmas factor was on overdrive. I have talked to families (that practice different faiths) about how when they pushed back on the repeated request for their children to bring a Christmas ornament, Ms. Garzzia reacted with an astonished "In my 30 years of teaching, I have never!..."--well, maybe that is because you have created an environment in which people are uncomfortable talking to you, or you have traditionally surrounded yourself with the same kinds of people as yourself. About 5 months in, fellow parents at the school told us of a very upsetting event in which they saw a strange man taking photos of the gate and walking up the driveway, which is not supposed to be open during business hours. When questioned, this man became incredibly aggressive. The parent walked up to relay this information to the administration immediately and make sure they knew he was present. Chandler's admin were at first 1) nowhere to be found, and when they did show up, 2) sharply dismissed and told parent they were "taking care of it" without explanation. This is how this school meets any questioning, over a major SAFETY CONCERN... without curiosity, without sympathy. It's their way or the highway. This is where we met our own proverbial highway. This story is so stupid that it sounds unreal. In February of 2025, parents in the Chandler's school-run WhatsApp chat decided to create some sub-groups for the classrooms. Privately, a few parents and I had talked about how we thought it would be good for these to be parent-only, without Administration. An incredibly normal thing that most schools have--to plan teacher gifts, make weekend playdates, and yes, to talk it out when something unsettling happens. I was the one who denied entry of the administrators to our Caterpillar subgroup. For the sake of receipts, I have uploaded the exchange with redacted names except for the business owner. What happened after that was quite shocking. On Monday morning, I dropped off my child at their classroom and was called into the office by Ms. Garzzia, who locked the door behind me when I entered. She was not interested in hearing my perspective, and that this act of "rudeness" was seen as a challenge to their absolute power and their ability to control all narratives about the workings of Chandlers. I asked what the next steps could be, and Carolina replied sharply, "Oh I think we are done here. How can you trust us to take care of your child if you cannot trust us?" A very fair point. I asked for a check for the rest of the month's tuition, and to my surprise, this check was already cut, and a letter of dismissal was sealed in an envelope. I had to return to the classroom and take our sweet child out. Our family is horrified that the administration thought it was perfectly appropriate to retaliate against an innocent child and pluck him away from his friends and routine--all because of a perceived slight from a parent. This is their capacity for emotional intelligence and empathy. The administration was also aware that my parents had lost their home in Altadena to the Eaton Fire weeks before, and that my step-dad was still in the hospital after severe smoke inhalation. We were in terrible need of childcare, and they didn't care. I fully expect a response to this review that will be full of lies. That is their style. The bottom line is that parents deserve to be able to present concerns and questions without feeling dismissed or bullied. read more

My family and I have had a phenomenal experience at Chandler's Preschool. We enrolled our daughter just before her second birthday and will soon need to leave, just shy of her fourth birthday, due to a move. From the beginning, we have felt welcomed, comforted, and cared for. Prior to joining Chandler's, we were fortunate enough to have close family watch our daughter while my spouse and I were working. Our child struggles with general anxiety, transitions, and often becomes emotionally overwhelmed easily. She started in the youngest classroom, The Caterpillars, and has transitioned up to the current oldest classroom, The Butterflies. From the start, The Caterpillars Head Teacher, Ms. Claire, consistently made an extraordinary effort to comfort our child at drop-offs. With empathetic language and a calm demeanor, she consistently soothed our daughter. When our daughter graduated from The Caterpillars and transitioned to Ms. Gisselle's classroom, The Cocoons, Ms. Gisselle also demonstrated a knack for using distraction and redirection. She reminded our daughter of all the wonderful activities and stations she could work on in the classroom, offered to play a song she loves, and inquired if she would like to assist her in setting up things for the day. Ms. Annel in The Butterfly classroom is engaging, communicative, and possesses outstanding interpersonal skills, forming a strong connection with the children. Her ability to connect effectively with the children is evident in the positive impact she has on their learning experience. Upon receiving her daily tracing and worksheet packets, our daughter takes great pride in her accomplishments when Ms. Annel acknowledges her efforts with a marker smiley face.  The teachers at Chandler's Preschool are exceptional educators. They are passionate, enthusiastic, creative, patient, and engaging. They instill kindness, respect for oneself and others, fairness, and have all done an incredible job at fostering a lifelong love of learning in our child. Our daughter has struggled with speech sound disorder, stuttering, and language delay. She began speaking more around the age of 2.5 when she entered The Cocoon classroom. Ms. Gisselle and all the teachers possess a special compassion, remarkable listening skills, and unwavering kindness towards our daughter's language development. From a young age, she would become easily discouraged if she could not perform tasks as well as her peers. However, she has grown into a persistent individual who understands the importance of perseverance. She eagerly shares her daily experiences, including conversations and lessons learned, and proudly presents her work. The daily routine at Chandler's is meticulously structured. Each classroom follows a weekly lesson plan that encompasses Circle Time/Language, Books/Reading, Arts and Crafts, Science and Math, Gross and Fine Motor Skills, Cooking, and outdoor activities. The classrooms are equipped with distinct learning stations, centers, ample natural light, displays of the children's work, opportunities for movement, and designated quiet spaces. Additionally, the school maintains an immaculate cleanliness, and ensures that the building is stocked with toys, dress-up clothes, props, art supplies, books, age-appropriate learning materials, child-sized tables and chairs, and low shelves with accessible toys. Furthermore, the school provides an outdoor area for children to engage in activities. During warm weather months, there is a creek for water play, a track and path for bicycling, a playground and swings, and an open space for outdoor learning and birthday parties. One notable advantage is the extraordinary meals prepared and cooked daily in-house for the children's breakfast and lunch. These meals have fostered a strong preference for wholesome and nutritious foods in our daughter. Some of the meal examples include veggie egg scramble, homemade cinnamon oatmeal topped with pecans and mixed berries, chicken stir-fry with vegetables and sticky rice, organic spinach and peas one-pot creamy ground turkey spaghetti, organic soy and chorizo tacos served with Spanish rice, black beans, and pico de Gallo, and vegetable, lentil, and tricolored beans server over jasmine rice.  Our daughter has made significant progress in early literacy, numeracy, problem-solving skills, and has developed a strong interest in art, books, puzzles, and memory games. Chandler's has been instrumental in helping her regulate and express her emotions, and her confidence has flourished since joining the school. In comparison to a year ago, our daughter's sharing skills have exhibited wonderful improvement. She demonstrates patience and has formed lasting friendships that bring her joy every day. We couldn't have found a more perfect school for our daughter. My son spent his last year before kindergarten at Chandler's and being recommended the school was such a gift! He started a little shy, a little unsure in social settings. By the time he left he had blossomed and was confident, curious, and impressively independent. The classrooms are bright, cheerful and clean, and the outdoor space was awesome. My son would come home telling me about what he built in class that day or the games he played outside with his friends. There was always something fun going on, and he especially loved his teachers- he still talks about them now. It made me happy to see him genuinely excited to go to school each morning. Perhaps what stood out most, though, was the balance. It wasn't just play, and it wasn't just structure. It was both. He learned so much at Chandler's: letters, numbers, even early reading. But he also learned social skills, like how to share, and how to communicate and express his feelings. As a parent, I always felt supported too. The staff were on hand whenever I had a question or concern. Usually I could speak with someone right there in person, but they were also just as responsive online or over the phone. They are clearly dedicated to, and passionate about, educating children, and it showed in the way they treated both the kids and us as parents. Another unexpected bonus was the meal program. It's included with tuition, and the food is excellent. My son used to be a picky eater, but now he eats everything! I credit Chandler's with that. I'll admit, I worried a little before he started, as I wasn't sure if he'd be ready to join a group or if he'd get lost in the mix. But he never did. If anything, the school gave him space to shine and receive love and attention from other caring adults. And when kindergarten came, the transition was way smoother than I expected. He wasn't just prepared, he was clearly ahead. It's not easy to hand your child over to someone else's care every day, but at Chandler's I always knew my son was safe, cared for, and challenged in all the right ways. This summer, my wife and I were hoping to spend more time with my mother-in-law in LA, but were concerned about safe and reliable child care options for our 3-year-old son. After calling multiple pre-schools near my mother-in-law's and finding a handful of options -- we asked my mother-in-law to check out Chandler's (and others) and she couldn't stop raving about Chandler's. She said Chandler's was a clean, new, spacious site (and had a track record from their Arcadia location), with lots of educational toys, and a clear vision from the school's director, Carolina. When we arrived on our first day -- we were immediately impressed! Carolina and her staff her welcoming and kind. The school was large and clean. And it wasn't just a daycare -- there was a curriculum! This was evident as nearly every day our son came home with some artwork relating to some new topic they learned about that day (e.g., the water cycle, school buses, or the alphabet). The staff was very loving and our son always came home in a great mood. They were even able to put him down to nap nearly every day and it was clear the kids were singing and having fun (with plenty of daily photos and videos to confirm :). From the moment we met Carolina and her amazing team, we new our daughter was going to receive wonderful love and care in her formative years. Carolina treats each and every child at Chandler's as individuals with a unique set of skills and needs. There isn't a day or week that goes by without hearing directly from Carolina on what our daughter is achieving and where extra care and attention would be helpful -- and Carolina is always there to guide us when we need direction. Leaving our daughter in Carolina's care at just seven months old was a difficult decision for our family. After day one, we knew we made the right decision and only wished we had done it sooner. With Carolina's lovely home cooked meals, she has introduced an array of foods to our daughter, and as a result, our daughter welcomes new foods and isn't a picky eater. Every day she comes home with a new word, parts of a song, or skill, and even a better understanding of empathy and love because that's what she sees at school. Carolina and her team are an extension of our family, we trust them with all our heart and we know they love each and every child with all their heart. Chandler's Preschool has been a wonderful experience for our 2 year old son (started around 21 months after transitioning from a not so great school experience). Under the leadership of Director Carolina, you sense that love, consistency, and collaboration are the most important components to success for the child. The teachers (Ms. Gisselle and Ms. Claire) are extremely patient, professional, and caring to the children and parents. I see my son growing in his speech, understanding, and confidence everyday. They have such a diverse group of children and a curriculum that is filled with so many learning opportunities and inclusivity in regards to cultural/social exposure, and celebrations. I met Carolina when she started taking care of my son. He was 18 months old. Another daycare said he was too active and they didn't know what to do with him. Carolina knew. She loved him. Carolina started taking care of my daughter at six months of age. My children are 28 and 24 now respectively. We are all still in touch. My kids felt loved by Carolina and all these years later, they still do. Bring a working parent is tough. The guilt of leaving your little ones with someone while you go to work is hard. It is heart breaking to walk away when your little one is crying. When you are fortunate enough to leave your little ones here, you know they are intellectually challenged, nutritiously fed and emotionally nourished. Moving from England and being so far away from family and grandparents concerned me that our child would not get the love and care he needed, but the whole team at Chandler's Playhouse welcomed us from day one and made our son feel so at home. Not only does the team care for the children like their own, but they feed them like their own and they know the correct levels of discipline and freedom that the kids need to thrive and progress. Carolina has been an important maternal figure in our son's life and we value everything that her wonderfully skilled team has brought to our lives. Chandlers Preschool is the best preschool in SoCal. The teachers truly care about the kids health, education and overall wellbeing. I grew up at the original location and I credit Carolina and the teachers with instilling many core character traits in both me and my sister. We were taught to respect not only ourselves but also those around us. We picked up good habits such as proper cleaning and putting things away where they belong. As we got older, there was always someone eager to help with our schoolwork and we were encouraged to read a book when we got restless/bored. The teachers here place a lot of value in a well rounded education that includes being creative, inside & outside play time, and encouraging using your imagination when creating/playing. The kids I grew up with at this preschool have become my family and it's not often that happens with schoolmates or childhood friends . At Chandler's Preschool you will know that your precious child is cared for, you will know that he was fed healthy meals, learned new things, potty training, social skills in a bullying free environment, and is loved. Before coming to Chandler's Preschool, our son was at another daycare where he was hit and bit multiple times by another kid. The teachers didn't see any of it and even tried to convince us our son bit himself. I say this because for a very long time, he would cry and cling on to us so he didn't have to stay at school out of fear. The teachers at Chandler's playhouse know how to show who is the adult in the most loving and patient way. With a wealth of experience applied through close attentive education and care, our son now sometimes doesn't even look back when we drop him off. He runs to greet the teachers and his friends, and comes back home every day, telling us something new he learned (planets, shapes, numbers,Spanish, english, names of presidents......) and what he had for lunch that day. read more
