We have alot of history as today, I am going on my 12th year of being Cancer Free. In the very beginning of my treatment, Dr. Shiffman wanted to go outside of the box, get other oncologists opinions, anything that it would take because my prognois was prettty bad...a few months at the most. From the very first appointment he had me...his warmth was genuine and his determination was strong. I could call the office at anytime of the day with questions...he has a fabulous staff and I get an answer pronto from either the Doctor himself or one of his assistants. Dr, Shiffman held my hand during some very difficult times and decisions. While an Oncologists has to have one of the hardest jobs in the field of medicine, he always greets you with warmth and a generous hug and you, and during that visit, however long it takes, he is all yours 110%. Thank you Dr. Shiffman for all that you have done for me and so many on the Monterey Peninsula fighting this thing called Cancer.

And then sends you to pain management, where I should have went in the first place. And maybe I wouldn't have undergone surgery from a in competent. Doctor. I hate to give such a review. But it is true, and people should be aware.Today, orthopedic surgeons specify in one particular part of the body.The upper or the lower extremities, they do not just cut people anywhere. He didn't offer a follow-up appointment. I had the best week ever because the inflammatory condition was paused completely. BUT. NO. TAPER. !!! I thought I was going to die from the prednisone withdrawal effects. Felt like the worst flu ever. Every muscle, every inch of my body hurt. When I tried to get in touch, no call back. When I physically went in to try to get an appointment, his horrible assistant tried to diagnose me and wouldn't give me an appointment. WTF!! WORST. DR. EVER.

I have never heard of this, but I wanted to understand. I asked questions, asked for clarification, tried to get numbers to go with the protocol. Probably was on the phone less than 5 minutes. The receptionist became irritated and said OMG not under her breath. I feel that was unkind and uncalled for.

When I finally got to meet her, no eye contact. Dr.Hwhang, was brisk and distant, I didn't feel seen or heard. immediately spoke about prescribing methadone, and other sedative medications, She seemed not to understand that my goal is to be alert and able to drive. She then prescribed seven day supply of the sedative medication, I was informed that refills were dependent on virtual "pain-level check in " which would occur either Monday or Friday, between the hours of 8-5. I informed my referring PC that I did not want to continue with that agency and would seek another agency and for . I also informed the office staff who I would give a five star rating to. We're not for the fact that this morning out of the I got another call from Dr. Hwong said I'm calling to check on your pain level. I am relocating and I will be looking for another specialist. This is a very poor listener. And I noticed that the patients in the office were and shuffling around like the walk of the dead. He stated that my MRI was not that bad and he felt that since I did not get relief from my previous injection, the issue was with my back. I told him I knew it was my hips and that after having two back surgeries I knew it was not my back. He did not care about my level of pain. I was in and out with no help or solid plan in a few minutes. He dismissed me completley. His office kept calling to schedule my back MRI and I declined. My pain managment doctor also disagreed with him, and he's in the same office. He wrote me a referral to Stanford. Fast forward less than four months later- Had my hip replaced at Stanford by Dr. Lipof. He said in addition to other issues, tears, etc. my labram had become detached and was just laying on the socket, one of the worst he has ever seen. I had presented all of the symtpons to Dr. Meckel. Get second or third opinions until you find someone who will take you seriously and don't give up until you find the right solution for you. I hate writing poor reviews, but this was poor medical care and I deserved better.
