I had a neurologist, discover the pain when he replaced my knee.The perineal nerve was stuffed into the fibula.Causing pain, severe pain for over years.When it was discovered, he refused to correct it. Said he needed a letter from the neurologist.Telling him to correct his mistake. He leaves you in pain that he was supposed to cure. And then sends you to pain management, where I should have went in the first place. And maybe I wouldn't have undergone surgery from a in competent. Doctor. I hate to give such a review. But it is true, and people should be aware.Today, orthopedic surgeons specify in one particular part of the body.The upper or the lower extremities, they do not just cut people anywhere. And then send them to pain management, because he hasn't solved the problem. I personally believe he should retire.His time is up!!! read more

This is a bit of an odd review, but due to Dr. Satow's assessment and recommendation, he saved my life. I'd been having leg pain for many years, and my parents thought it was growing pains. (Which was unsettling considering the pain was always in the same leg!) Anyway, one day my hip area was warm to touch which really made me concerned. I went to Dr. Satow and he wasn't able to determine what exactly was going on but felt something was not right, that I needed immediate attention, and referred me to a Dr. at Stanford. With his help, I got an appointment at Stanford for a consult about one week later. Went into the consult and was informed that I needed surgery TOMORROW. Ends up I had an infection in my hip that started to eat away at my hip bone. Pain often shoots down, so that's why I always had pain in my leg. I am forever grateful to Dr. Satow and his staff for being so responsive. I have gone to Doctors who don't have the right answer but continue to treat and charge me! Dr. Satow specializes in orthopedics and sports injuries. His office is part of the complex of offices up in the Ryan Ranch area, The office is clean and modern and he has the latest equipment. My Mom stumbled out of a van and broke her wrist a couple of weeks ago, It was fortunately a pretty clean break, but she is in her 80s. I went with her on a follow-up appointment where she had her first cast removed, the break Flouroscoped (similar to XRays) and a new cast put on. Dr. Satow did all of this himself, with a great gentle manner and attentive care, while talking to me about the World Cup results at the same time. He put on a lighter cast and she will go back in a few weeks to remove that and get a sling. His office has tickets and sports memorabilia on the walls and he loves competitive sports, despite his professional appearance and soft manner. I always schedule my appointment by tele-computer, because I know how sensitive he is with scents. Well this time I had to go in for a shot in my knee. I changed my clothes, did not spray on ANY perfume, lotion, or any scents, and as soon as I walk in the door they are telling me I have perfume on. I told them, no I have clean clothes,and that's what you are smelling. I had to reschedule my appointment!! Came in again for the same thing, and it happened again. I told them that I'm not reschedling my appointment. I felt like I was being harassed!! I'm now looking for a new doctor, because I can't deal with the stress that they cause me. I mean what am I suppose to do roll my clothes in the dirt before I come in? No one should be treated like this!!! read more

Pretty disappointed. I scheduled an appointment for, then a week prior, they called and cancelled my appointment because the doctor was scheduled for surgery the same day. So I asked about rescheduling and the associate could not provide a rescheduling date. This doctor was recommended by family too. Their lack of proper scheduling and inability to reschedule as simple appointment leads me to believe their not squared away. read more

I have been visiting Dr Satow off and on for more than six years. During that time Dr Satow has been immensely helpful and caring through a couple of injuries a year for me. Last summer Dr Satow operated on my left knee following an encounter with a moving sidewalk in an airport. The surgery was top notch and I've completely healed (six months later). Dr. Satow has done 3 miniscus tear arthroscopies on my knees. I really like him personally and his nurse practitioner is fantastic. I think that I would like a little more post operative guidance is all...I got a lot of info when I was pretty out of it and forgot most of it. I came to Dr Satow for a second opinion regarding a knee replacement recommendation from another surgeon. Satow took the time to understand how active I like to be, and to warn me of the limitations I'd have after a replacement using current materials & technologies. He recommended a knee clean-out, for which I was long overdue. I chose that route, which removed a lot of debris, scar tissue and calcification. I was able to ski after 6 weeks, and am very comfortable doing normal activies now, after 2 months. We believe this option will permit time for total knee replacements to advance before I have to have that surgery. Dr. Satow is my hero. Approximately 12 years ago I was in a pretty horrific car accident. My micro surgeon recommended Dr Satow to me for any future problems. Recently after 3 years of putting it off my general practitioner said enough!!! time for shoulder surgery. So off I went to Dr. Satow. He's very conservative on surgery so I knew if he said time to do it, it was time!!! He is so kind, you never feel rushed when talking to him. You can tell he loves what he does. Best yet the surgery was a complete success after 3 years of continual pain in my right arm is gone. I can not recommend him enough!!!!!!! Besides the fact you can trust him and he's not going to sell you into surgery when not needed. If you have to wait for appointment worth waiting. If you have to wait in office worth it.
