Due to some unforseen circumstances, I found myself researching DJs for my wedding on the Oregon Coast only weeks prior to the event. I found DJ Short Change (Change Dem Productions) on Yelp and read through his reviews at the time - all 5 stars. I checked out his website to learn more about him, saw that he had experience doing corporate and private events so I decided to initiate contact. Despite being out of the country on vacation and on basically different time schedules initially, Short Change was quick to respond to get the conversation started and the basic questions answered. He indicated he was available for our event and immediately made us feel comfortable, assuring us that he had everything under control. Boy, did he deliver. Having given him such a short runway for planning and with everything else going on, there was bound to be some sort of hiccup that came up yet DJ Short Change navigated the evening professionally and everything was executed perfectly - if there was a hiccup, we couldn't tell. Short Change nailed the all of the "must have" songs, played great music overall and read the crowd well. He kept the party moving... so much so that I asked him to stay an additional hour as there was no way we'd be able to keep up the same vibe. If you want my advice, don't accept a position on the planning committee for your 30 year reunion. If, unfortunately, I'm too late with this advice and you're already on the hook, get yourself a killer DJ and (as Frankie says) RELAX. Booking DJ Shortchange was the best event-related decision I made. He's a total professional--proactive with communication, able to roll with last minute changes, and supremely easy & pleasant to work with. Change served as party MC, keeping the energy up and directing folks to the food, Photo Booth and (of course) to the dance floor. While this cat can throw down any musical genre like a pro (you gotta check out his reggae shows), I needed 80s music running the gamut from heavy metal and punk to R&B and New Wave. Change happily took requests from my classmates leading up to the event and during the party and brought his own flavor to the party. So the one worry I didn't have on the night of the event was that the music would be totally Off. The. Hook. Change is more than a DJ. He's a one person Party Machine. Got to give up some praise for DJ Short Change and his Change Dem Productions! I've been to several weddings and other parties DJ'd by Short Change and had him MC a couple parties and concerts I put together. He always gets the right read on the crowd and changes up the flow to get everybody on the floor. Not only do the party people love his dance selections, he always manages to bring in the whole family - from Grandma to the kids, everybody gets some kind of tunes they want to hear. At Ringler's Pub on Monday nights and on KPSU Sunday nights, Mr. Change spins a whole education in reggae, but for a party he's down with whatever the people want, from trailer trash butt rock to barn party country style, not to mention all the classic disco and funk the people expect from a DJ. More than the tunes, Short Change knows how to bring the crowd together, lift them up and hit that elusive feel-good altitude you want every party to get to. We hired DJ Shhort Change for our wedding in November and it was painless and easy. Geoff met with us on our schedule to determine the list off songs and also how the music could compliment the wedding event. My wife and I are not the most knowledgeable about these kinds of event so we gave the songs we wanted for particular milestones in the event and gave him the freeedom of playing the music inbetween these specified points. He was even very reachable in the time up to the event for any questions or concerns we might have had. Overall he was spot on with all the songs we had selected, timing for the announcements during the wedding and reception was impecable and his flexibility in transitioning songs was great as well. DJ Short Change spun hits from 1977 to today for my husband's 40th birthday party. I gave him a laundry list of songs, with the creative license to do what he wanted with them. He did a GREAT job. Although it wasn't intended as a dance party - DJ all had us dancing (I mean, who can resist Beyonce's "All the Single Ladies?!?") Big up to DJ Shortchange and his work he did for us at a private party. DJ Shortchange owns and operates Change Dem Productions, which is a DJ service that spins what you want. His specialty is Reggae music and he is awesome at that! We hired Shortchange to provide the music for a special party we had at our place September 22nd. The party was outdoors and ran well into the wee hours of the morning. A few weeks before the party we contacted Shortchange with a list of music we wanted included. We didn't give him an exhaustive list but gave him some key songs and then asked him to fill in the rest with some good roots Reggae. He came about an hour early and set up and soon we were listening to great vibes as we went about getting the rest of the party stuff. The party went from 6:30PM to about 2AM and we had a steady stream of great music at perfect levels. Requests from people were encouraged. There was even an open mic that some people took advantage of. If you ever need to put out some good custom music I highly recommend Change Dem Productions. Check him out at his web site. Everything he said he would do he did, and then some. Short Change rocked our wedding! All ages were on the dance floor all night! Short Change was an absolutely fantastic DJ and sound man for my wedding in Hood River over the summer. I don't live in Oregon, but Short Change was very easy to contact and always willing to go over all the specifics of our upcoming event. From the beginning, Short Change made me feel secure that he would be able to pull off everything that we were looking for. The day of event was a breeze with Short Change. He nailed all of his ques and while staying in the background he was able to manage the timing of the event with minimal announcements. We were able to not only select specific songs that I wanted to hear at certain times during the event, but he was also knowledgeable enough to play music that I didn't previously request that perfectly fit the vibe I wanted for my wedding. This is a very unique talent for a DJ to pull off. Sound equipment - Short Change saved us a bundle of cash by allowing us to use his microphones. He had a lapel mic for the wedding officiant. Multiple hand mics for speeches and toasts. All amplified by his stage speakers and sound engineered by Change on his mixer. We did not have to rent a single piece of sound equipment, Short Change brings it all. I highly recommend Short Change for any event you have. DJ Shortchange worked my wedding on Sept 17 and my wife and I couldn't have been more pleased with his services. We live out of state but got married in Salem, OR, so our visits to the venue before the wedding where short and had to be on exact dates. DJ Short Change DJ'd our wedding a few weeks ago. We could not have been happier with him!!! Our goal in hiring a DJ was so that he/she could get everyone on the dance floor for the reception. Change delivered that and so much more. He got all ages dancing, even some people who had NEVER danced at a wedding before. We have heard only AMAZING things from our guests about DJ Short Change. Not only did he give us the dance party of our dreams, he went above and beyond, setting up and organizing the music for our ceremony and cocktail hour / dinner. He had not been to our venue before, so he came out for the rehearsal (no small feat, since it was out in the Gorge) to check out the space and see what kind of equipment he would need. He also set up and took down all the equipment for the ceremony, which was in a meadow nearby the reception site. He did all that himself and without missing a beat with the tunes going during the cocktail hour. He took into account our music tastes, played the "must have" songs, and complimented those with things that we loved.
