We had Mikey as our wedding DJ add he was amazing! We are in our early 40s so we have a bit different vibe than many weddings and he was super excited for it. He mixed in a ton of songs that we love and as a result kept our dance floor bopping all night. Many guests the next day commented on how active our dance floor was and that is in large part thanks to Mikey. He was also great with questions we had leading up to the big day. Would recommend. A couple Paradox negatives: in the initial phases the way the company website and communication is set up is intense and super pushy. I also didn't like the app they have as it isn't usable on a computer. I also didn't like the payment methods they prefer. Sending Venmo payments that large felt really odd. But Mikey's work was amazing and I would put up with those issues again for the amazing vibe and night that he gave us. read more

Terrible service. We hired him for our wedding that was scheduled for May of 2020. Of course we couldn't have the wedding. He had the gall to require an extra $500 to reschedule claiming that he had to turned down 3 other gigs that cost him thousands of dollars and only showed compassion to waive the fee when I shared that my mom had died of covid and I wasn't even sure I wanted to have a wedding anymore if my mom couldn't be there. Of course, when January of 2021 came around, it was clear that we couldn't have the wedding in May of 2021 either and he demanded even more money claiming again that he had turned down several other gigs for thousands of dollars. Yeah right! He had no proof of this. We fired him. He kept nearly $1,000 of our money for doing absolutely nothing. Beware of this guy. He is not an honorable business person and extremely unreasonable and heartless. read more

I give this company a 10/10! From the introduction via Zoom meeting almost 1 year ago to the execution of service at our recent wedding 6/18/2021, working with Justin (owner) was a breeze. He provided us with all of the information up front that he needed from us to make our day come to life. He had ideas that we had never thought of that made our wedding different from any other we had ever been to. Due to the circumstances, he brought 2 additional DJ's to our event for added support. We got married in August and I had reached out to Paradox Productions hoping to book Justin based on Weddingwire reviews. He had already been booked on our date in December and he highly recommended his right hand man, Ryan (DJ RPM). I trusted him and booked Ryan without meeting him or listening to any of his mixes. It turns out Ryan is actually the DJ I tape-recorded back in high school; he did the throwback mixes for the old Jammin 95.5. This made me BEYOND excited and we met at a Starbucks after I paid my deposit. He was very professional and took notes throughout the meeting. He also walked me through their website where I could create my own playlists and timeline of events. I was really counting on Ryan to be the timeline guy as I had no wedding coordinator. He's very creative and he's DJ'd a ton of weddings so he actually helped me with things beyond music in terms of timeline, especially our processional and recessional. He even went for my idea to walk down the aisle to Common's "The Light" and made a custom mix for me only to have it turned down by my dad (wah wah). He showed up early the day of and miced up our officiant and my husband. He also setup all the speakers he needed and knew exactly what to do to make everything go smoothly. EVERYTHING went perfectly and Ryan had A LOT to do. He played what we wanted while guests showed up, timed our songs for the ceremony during our rehearsal right before the real deal, and it all went off without a hitch. The music during cocktail hour was exactly what I wanted and the music during dinner was exactly what my husband wanted. Then came the dance portion of the evening and that was my favorite because it was all old school hip hop and pop music that I requested. I cannot recommend Paradox Productions enough. From start to finish, they handled all my inquiries and phone calls professionally and Ryan was A HUGE part of making our wedding flow not only with music but also with the announcements we asked him to make at certain times. My husband's family owns a wedding venue and we used to live on the property. As a result, we have experienced many weddings and heard countless DJ's. With that in mind, I was blown away by Justin and Paradox Productions. Many of those weddings I watched from my kitchen window and listened to all night were lacking the energy and cohesiveness Justin created. Not only is Justin friendly and welcoming, he also put me at ease by explaining how he makes sure he is in sync with the rest of my vendors to ensure that the flow of our wedding was smooth. This may sound like a no brainer but trust me, it is a skill and requires attention to detail. Attention to detail that Justin has! Throughout my wedding as well as afterwards, I was approached by my guests telling me how great our DJ was. My Uncle even went up to Justin at the end of the night to tell him how wonderful the music was from the time guests started arriving, through the ceremony, cocktail hour and the entire reception. Ain't nobody fresher than this clique! There are many wedding costs that can be compromised, but NOT entertainment and reassurance that you and your loved ones will be taken cared of so that this very special (and likely the most expensive party you'll ever host) turns out just the way it was planned and envisioned (this is coming from a couple who are pretty good planners themselves, but planning a wedding is another level). We have absolutely no regrets booking Justin Babbitt (DJ Paradox) and Jennifer Babbitt (wedding coordinator). We knew after meeting them that we would be in good hands. They both are personable and have so much wedding industry experience and expertise. They were also responsive to each and every question and request that we threw at them, even if it came down to just a day before the wedding! Many details are interconnected for a wedding and the tricky part is organizing it all in a way that flows and makes sense for what you want. We knew we could handle most of the planning, but wanted to have a point person to help execute the day of to alleviate this burden from us and the wedding party. Jennifer offers various coordination packages and we were happy to learn of her partial planning services. She helped us with vendor connections, ceremony planning and rehearsal, set-up of decor and the snack bar, pinning of boutonnieres, and probably a million other things the day of that kept us sane and everything running smooth. Jennifer was on point with keeping us on track, but in a very caring and calming way. She did a great job keeping us on schedule and reminded us and the wedding party where we needed to be throughout the wedding day. Our wedding was pretty stress free (yes, minimal stress is possible!) and having Jennifer with us, was a big part in that. Justin helped us plan the music and MC (master of ceremonies) content for the ceremony, cocktail hour, wedding party entrance, dinner, and dance floor. He understood our playlist needed to cater to everyone: young, old, and a good amount of guests who don't speak English and really encouraged us to incorporate our Chinese and Cambodian culture so we had traditional music playing during dinner. He was even able to accommodate a request during the middle of the reception, when the groom's father wanted to play a specific Cambodian song (we have a photo with the father wearing Justin's headphones while Justin's helping him out!). What we really appreciated about Justin is his MC abilities in creating the right tone for the right moment. He has a talent for keeping the energy in the room through his MC and DJ roles. It was such a joy and so much fun to see everyone on the dance floor. More than once, we had guests tell us that our wedding was one of the funnest weddings they've been to. Justin can mix ANYTHING. Music and getting all our guests on the dance floor was a big deal to us and Justin nailed it. We're very grateful to have Justin and Jennifer be a part of our big day and highly recommend them. We were able to truly be present and remember each special moment. It is crazy to invest so much time, energy, and money and just wake up the day of and hope for the best. My Husband and I had the pleasure of having Justin Babbitt, Mr. DJ Paradox himself, lead the entertainment for our wedding and we couldn't be happier with our choice. Justin came highly recommended from friends and we were not let down. He was exceptionally attentive to our style and type of wedding ceremony and reception we wanted to host and he spent significant time discussing music with us so we had the perfect mix. Additionally, we were planning the wedding from San Francisco for our Portland wedding, and Justin would often host Skype calls in the late evening and answered emails quickly to make our special day perfect. He went above and beyond to make sure everything was in place prior to our arrival. Justin was also an amazing entertainer and MC for the entire party. Many of our guests commented that he was one of the best DJs they have ever seen and he knew how to mix songs together so there was never a dull moment. This is really important: Justin does not just push play and wait for the song to finish, he mixes styles and songs to get people on the dance floor and keep them there. We used Justin & Paradox for our school auction, both AV and DJ services. We were so pleased with all of our communication up until the event, and during the event itself. Everything ran smoothly with the AV during our Live auction, and having music during our cocktail hour/Silent auction created a really exciting ambiance. Our after party was amazing! Justin was awesome every step of the way. The in depth planning page on their website is great and helped us on planning out everything we wanted. The couple of phone/skype chats we had really nailed down every detail - Justin knew all the right questions to ask. The pricing was super fair, especially considering you're getting someone that's going to keep everything moving in the right direction throughout the night with announcements and music choices. I used to DJ, so I had a pretty high bar to meet and Justin easily exceeded it. He hit the perfect balance between playing what we requested ahead of time, handling requests from all our drunk-idiot friends, and filling in the rest of the night with music that met our tastes. Justin is not just there to press play and make a buck - he really is paying attention to what's going on and make sure your night goes right. When it came time for my wife and I to cut the cake, our less-than-stellar catering service was nowhere to be seen. Justin noticed this right away and ran off to the kitchen to get equipment for us to do the deed right after he hit play on the music we wanted. I doubt any of the guests noticed anything, because it looked so natural, but it really meant a lot to me that he was paying that much attention and did something that wasn't his job to make my wife and I look like we knew what we were doing. We absolutely LOVED working with Paradox productions, specifically DJ O.G. One! You're reading this review and one thing you need to know about me is that I LOVE to dance, so choosing a top notch DJ was essential for my big day. As a consumer and bride-to-be, there are several reasons why I would choose Paradox all over again. First of all, they are extremely timely and responsive. Many vendors in the wedding industry lag on responses and can hold up your timeline, thus adding to your stress level and making the planning process difficult - NOT Paradox. Jen is always on top of her emails and is extremely accommodating when it comes to planning and coordination. Secondly, the seamless online planning platform was very helpful - it was easy to navigate and very comprehensive. Here you can submit your timeline, special requests, various music lists and make payments. Everything is SO EASY. Finally, I need to give major credit to DJ O.G. One who kept our dance floor crazy fun and was a great at reading the crowd. Prior to the big day, we met with O.G. One and he asked all the right questions about our wants and needs, and more importantly, he actively listened to our responses.
