I go here frequently and love shopping here, but the customer service absolutely sucks. The vendors are great and there's a pretty wide selection of household items/decor and furniture, but every time i've gone there, i've never had a good experience with any of the employees. As someone that has worked in customer service for years, they don't even try! I just went there today and had another horrible experience getting checked out. Extremely unhelpful. It's kind of like an indoor flea market where you can visit a bunch of different booths displaying different trades, crafts, and interests -but it's much nicer and indoor! This is a really cool thrift store. There are numerous "vendors" that have their own section of the store. Each section has a variety of whatever that vendor is selling such as old coffee mugs, antique magazines, polarized cameras, body scrubs, antique cleaning supplies, and vintage clothes. I've never been to a thrift store that has so many different people selling different styles of antiques. I was able to find a few Starbucks mugs that were over 10 years old for about 7$. Prices are not bad, yet they do not negotiate. They are constantly changing their prices, so it's nice to come back often to see what they have changed and / or added to each collection! I never knew this place exciters. It is right next to a catering company. I do suggest checking it out if you are ever driving by. read more

It's the season for shopping and I'm a little more untraditional than others! I am always on a mission for unique finds for gifts. So I enjoy hitting all my favorite thrift or antique spots! This is a place that is one of my favorites and over the years I have a few booths that I have to hit first! Right as you start out in the front is a great record spot and they have some retro toys and collectibles from time to time. (I'm a Disney nut so always browsing.) Also in next room from records; tucked in a corner is a neat booth that always has some great deals on toys and dolls. Make sure to leave yourself some ample time because this place is quite big! They also have a smaller store over on Wilson just down the street! Normally during holidays the booths are filled with that holidays decor old and new! I also love to look at all the refurbished furniture some of the booths have! I can't think of a time that I have gone here and not bought something. Staff is all friendly and ready to help you! I was told I HAD to check out this place since I love vintage. To call this place an vintage/antique store is like calling Costco fine dining. Yes they may sample the filet mignon but ultimately you are going to leave disappointed. After visiting both locations I was unimpressed. They both seemed cluttered with last season's Hobby Lobby leftovers. Booths stocked with newly "made in china" knick-knacks and the same tired offerings you can find at any Kirklands or TJ Maxx. As is the trend now there was also a fair amount of chalk paint. I despise this trend. In five years I predict the goodwills to be filled with badly painted pastel Ikea furniture. Please don't paint a 100 year old mason jar pink then try to tell me it's now worth $10. No. There were a few smatterings of true vintage but for me the buzzkill of trying to search through so many Homegoods leftovers made it not worth the effort. While this isn't my "Made in Indonesia" cup of tea I know a lot of people like it. And if you enjoy shopping at the above mentioned stores you will probably love it. Very unimpressed with how I was treated today. I absolutely loved this place once I found it & became a frequent shopper. Wide range of booths to browse through, I've grown to know which corners are my favorites or my "go to" spots. The vendors are not my issue, the people working/running the building here are the issue. Not only was I a frequent shopper here, I now run a booth here & I was so EXCITED to have my own little spot. The rent is a little high but still this is something I love doing & something I want to support along with other people & hey a little healthy competition never hurt! But seriously the girls working here have been extremely rude to me. What is the point of a vendor only service door, if NO BODY ever answers the door. I'm trying to come through where I'm allowed too, I have heavy items I'm attempting to put in MY booth, which I PAY for. Three times now I've had to either drive my car completely around to go through the front (service door is on the side) or I've had to walk around while leaving my car in back to walk through the entire front of the store (it's huge people) to the back to unlock it myself.. I've also been rushed out the door while trying to set up a few things in my booth, with a girl reminding me I have one minute until they close over & over as if I didn't hear her the first time.... okay I have like 5min left, I can't be the only person here. The staff are young & just can't wait to lock up the building & leave. I get it, but I'm already rushing within the small time I'm "allowed" & I spent 15min of that time at the back door ringing the bell that someone is suppose to answer for me.. its just a huge let down because I wanted to be a long time supporter of this place, but the customer service you are allowing to run this place is awful. There is a way for everyone to make money without being rude & disrespectful. I'd prefer to deal with people who understand how business works & have the right attitude toward a customer/vendor. I love this store and have spent a fair amount of money here but after my experience today, I won't again. I bought several sample paints from the vendor that sells CeCeCaldwells paints and discovered one of them was unsealed and had mold growing on the top. Within 4 hours after purchase, I tried to return or exchange it, and as they had no more in that color, they wouldn't let me even choose an alternate color. The person working called the owner, NOT the vendor, and just blew me off. Basically telling me "NO EXCHANGES, too bad! It probably just needs to be mixed!" I'm aware of the no returns policy but this isn't an old used item! As it's being sold "brand new", they should've worked with me. Very disappointed in the customer service and won't be returning. Perhaps the vendor may have made things right, but I'll never know now. read more

Unfriendly staff! Not helpful and downright rude! The same words can be used to describe the owner of this establishment. When the previous owners owned this business, it was a fun place to find things. Unfortunately, over time things have changed and the place is now uncomfortable to visit. The layout is a mess. The vendor's merchandise isn't as nice. The main turn off though is the owner and staff! I have witnessed verbal exchanges that made me cringe. Changing Thymes is by far the best place to shop for one of kind finds from vintage, repurposed, upcycled and beautiful home decor and gifts; there is always something new to see. The Chicago Drive location has two stories and such a wide variety of styles and furniture. Prices are lower than most craft shows and other vendor type stores around the area. Great place to wander and shop! I always find what I am looking for and more! Vendors are happy and the staff is friendly and helpful. read more

Just visited today! I was really impressed with the fun assortment of furniture and toys. I enjoyed seeing all of the different ideas that people came up with, especially some of the shabby-chic furniture. While some booths did sell made in China items, most sold interesting homemade gadgets. I would definitely recommend it! read more

I have been an educator for the public schools for over 20 years and have brought a lot of business to local antique and vintage shops for costumes and props for our school plays. I have never been denied a tax exempt purchase as we have a state tax exempt number and form because we are a non profit public school. The owner Carol Kuester denied our form and and was so rude to me and my colleagues that we left without purchasing anything. I feel bad for the vendors who are losing customers. Carol obviously doesn't support the public schools, nor does she follow MI law in allowing a non profit organization who is granted tax exempt status to use their government issued tax exempt number. Beyond this, she was smug, rude, and belittling. I've never dealt with a manager or owner who is so unprofessional. No wonder this business is rating 1 out of 5 on Mlive Business Finder. read more

I rented a space at the wilson location and thought it would be really fun! However, they decided to change their contract in the middle of my 4 month lease (without notifying me). So when I went to move out, they said that under the new contract I needed to stay another month and pay them another $120 in rent! Even after they were aware that I had not signed nor received the new lease, they continued to enforce it. I was told I need to wait over a month to get my deposit back, but my lease agreement specifically stated I would get it back when I moved out. They had someone moved into my space before my lease was even officially up! Anyone considering shopping or working with this company should seriously reconsider. I'll not be giving them another penny of my hard-earned money. After years of being loyal customers, I will not forget the way I have been lied to and taken advantage of. Hopefully my review will save someone else from the same frustration and dishonesty. read more

We loved & have purchased a lot of the items while shopping at both locations in Grand Rapid but had a bad experience this time & will never shop there again.... We shop antique/consignment quite a bit since we are in the design business & are well aware we are purchasing "used items"... But items are always in good condition unless noted otherwise on the price tag. We purchased a wooden graphic sign & after checking out as we walked to our car the item broke in half. Upon inspection of the item in the sunlight we could see it had been glued back together but not a good repair job. When we walked back in to show the counter staff the broken item & where it had obviously been glued before, they proceeded to call the owner. The owner informed them they would not take back this $10 item & then spoke with us on the phone upon which she informed us that she would not take back the defective item because when you shop at "Changing Thymes" it is clearly "BUYER BEWARE". She also made it clear she did not care whether we shopped at her business or not. It's hard to find good customer service these days & this was yet another disappointment... read more

Love this store and the new one they added too ! You can find well built wood dressers and other furniture for cheaper than sanders particle board stuff. Also, they don't pester you and follow you as u shop so u can bring a friend and leisurely enjoy each area. read more
