As far as that all goes, it's run of the mill with a good selection in all those areas. As you can tell from the name of the place, they also sell toys. I used to love coming in here with Mum when I was a kid and hassling her to buy me random little toys. The range of toys isn't like what you'd see in a department store. It's more cheap trinkets and mid-price action figures that the owners know will sell and satisfy kids for at least a little while. They also sell a good amount of coffee table books on subjects like war history, natural wonders and biographies. Check out the tables outside for specials on stationery, subscriptions and books.

The central counter has lots of paraphernalia on and around it, the incidental items you may miss if they were placed elsewhere. It is also a licenced lottery agenc and no matter how many times I ask for the winning ticket, so far it hasn't happened! On the other opposite side of the counter is the giftware area, which has an adequate range of last minute gift choices.

While the store isn't huge, it does have a top selection of magazines across all genres. They even stock my all-time favourite magazine, Lula, which can be hard to find in Oz. There are lots of imports and at pretty good prices too. The staff are super friendly and helpful as well, especially red-head chick (sorry I don't know your name, red-head chick!). Worth a glance even if you're not hoping on board a train.

Their magazine range is equally diverse and caters to all interests, including music, cooking, handicrafts and sports. The shop all stocks novels and books, but the range is somewhat limited to bestselling titles. The staff are very friendly and aren't pushy - they're quite comfortable with customers flipping through magazines and having short reads through books. Probably the best aspect of this shop is the relaxed atmosphere, as there are few people in the store at the same time, and you have the freedom to quietly browse without interruption. Also available is a variety of gift goods, ranging from scented candles to decorative ornaments. Whilst these gift ideas are more appropriate for older generations, there are plenty of items that are ideal for younger generations too, such as notebooks and calendars.

First of all, it's always quite empty and I love not having many people around when browsing for something. Second, the shop assistants have always been very friendly. Third, it's clean, open and bright and everything is in impeccable order. And last - and most importantly - they have an amazing selection of newspapers and magazines. Their stock is not massive, yet large enough and it contains exactly what I'm after. I especially love their travel and cooking magazines and always have a very hard time just picking one or two. You can grab bus timetables from here as well and there is probably one of the best ranges of pens at this newsagent too. Was a little disappointed with the small range of cardboard however with another newsagency at Woodcroft Town Center, this isn't too bad. They do dry cleaning here however it can really vary in quality. I have had both good and bad experiences with that program however it generally turns out ok. When I take all the factors into consideration, then this newsagency passes as satisfactory however be forewarned as some things can be below satisfactory (like the service sometimes and the dry cleaning service) whereas somethings can be above satisfactory (like the range of computer and technology magazines and the fact I once found an in-date magazine here below the RRP by $5!!)

It broadcasts digitally as well! Apart from offering training courses for people to learn how to produce radio it also provides a broadcast platform for members of the community to air the opinions and have their voices heard. A variety of organisations purchase time at the station and broadcast to their community; Sunday is the time when you will hear Baha'i Farsi, Chinese Youth, Nepali Bhutanese and Afghan culture programs. During the rest of the week there are a variety of programs that range from pure traditional jazz through to specialist music shows or programs that focus on human rights and current affairs. You can tune in on a Sunday afternoon between 1pm and 2pm and hear me (yes, Dave "Guru" J, your friendly Yelp Reviewer!) on my show "The Music Wheel" and get a serve of mixed genres from all over, which proves anyone can be a broadcaster on community radio. You can listen on line or by tuning your radio dial to 101.5 FM. But what if you have your own business or service and want to promote it through a community radio station? It's not as expensive as commercial radio, and the community radio does not have commercial advertising as such, but it does have sponsorship opportunities, so you may wish to sponsor a program - or run a series of announcements about your service as a sponsor. Contact the Sponsorship and On Air Promotions person at the station and they will give you all the details you need. The station, like all community radio, is run by it's station volunteers with a few paid staff. The financial support mainly comes from the sponsorships and subscribers - so each year there is a Radiothon to drum up new subscribers who pay a yearly fee and get a range of benefits (including a thriving community station) as a result. Discounts and access to gigs and special days like the annual CD and book sale are all part of being a subscriber. Radio Adelaide is a welcome change from the brassy commercial stations that treat us all like doofuses and mention nothing without accepting a fee for it first, so tune in and discover something magical; who knows, you may want to become a broadcaster yourself one day, and this is the place to train how when you do!

RadioAdelaide is a community radio station hosted by Adelaide Uni. They have a diverse range of…read moreprograms covering a lot of intercultural topics and music. Their variety is definitely unquestionable and with their schedule accessible directly from their website, you can pick what you want to tune in to. The good thing about the radio station is the fact that there are a lot less ads than commercial radio stations. Local reviews and topics also mean that a lot of the shows seem more relevant and enjoyable than the dribble on the other stations. I went here for an interview and the radio presenter was engaged with the topic we were discussing on the morning show, and asked some good questions. The best part about it is the fact that there is now a live stream online that you can tune in to over an internet connection.

The Anifex animation effects studio is a space you can hire and a group you can employ or engage to…read morerealise an advertising campaign for example or to make your own original film. In terms of hiring the space they have the green screen or blue screen studio set up you use when dropping a background behind your performers in a short film, commercial or feature; and the space has a good sized kitchen facility attached. All the lighting requirements are available and the folk who run the place can either advise you as to whom you may employ as a lighting technician or they can provide someone. There is a purpose built stop-motion camera studio where the painstaking process of creating clay-mation or stop motion animation takes place and there is also a workshop where props and puppets are built, and you can commission an artist to create your characters if you decide you are not capable of doing it yourself. Costs are pretty competitive in terms of hiring the space, but obviously making a film or stop motion animation is not something you can do with a small amount of money. The studio has won many awards over the years and you may be amazed at how many familiar adverts you see on television have been produced here.
