While we were staying in Olympia, I developed some pretty bad allergies, after all, WA and AZ are VERY different. My symptoms got so bad that I couldn't breathe through my nose at all. Not wanting to send me to a doctor and pump me full of synthetic and harmful drugs, the husband found out about Chinese Medicine, and that led us Susan Monaco. I decided to try out this Chinese Medicine stuff and I was feeling pretty positive because I know the powers of natural healing. I met with her for an herbal consultation and after a chat with me about my symptoms and my medical history along with a pulse check and a tongue check, I was on my way with a weeks worth of herbs to mix with hot water. I will not lie, these herbs were the nastiest things I have ever tasted. It was truly awful. However, after two weeks of using them I watched my allergy symptoms almost disappear. An herbal consultation will run you 35 dollars, cash or check, and the herbs, a week's worth, will cost between 15-20 dollars. They also have acupuncture available, but I did not partake in that procedure. This is my first acupuncture experience…read more A few weeks back, I pulled a muscle in my left shoulder blade from doing rigorous yard work. It's been radiating pain from my shoulder, to my bicep, to my forearm and my hand- deep, dull and in escapable pain that has been keeping me up at night and making it hard to work. I have tried everything I can think of ice, heating pads, ibuprofen, sleeping on my back, specialty pillow that tilts your chin upright, lidocaine, chiropractor. Nothing has helped. The first time I went into this acupuncture place, they were quick to answer their phone and were able to get me an appointment the same day. When I went into their office, I was in so much agony that they chose to ice me and see me again in a couple of days, which felt like the right thing to do. A few days later, I went in for my first appointment and they only put in 2 acupuncture needles. Today, I went for my third appointment and they did four or five needles with the TEMS unit hooked up which sends electrical pulses through the needles. It was quite an interesting experience, but it actually feels like it did something! Both employees have excellent bedside manner. They are intentional and gentle and I felt the care they have for this work and their clients. I would recommend them 1000 times over because they have helped me feel like a human again.

Because of my…read more27-year career and lifetime of martial arts training, my 54 year old body has some issues, such as rotator cuff and knee pain due to injuries and wear-and-tear caused by hard use. I have also experienced high levels of stress at times from both career and personal life (haven't we all?). Being a naturalist, I am reluctant to take the standard AMA approach to achieve overall well-being, unless necessary. There's nothing quite like a trauma surgeon when you need one (hopefully not) and there are some western meds that really do the job (NSAIDS) for severe, acute conditions. I once hit my shin very hard with a hose coupling when fighting a wildfire and it left me barely able to walk. My partner offered me some Advil and I said "I never take that stuff." He convinced me to try it and it worked very well, enough so that I was able to continue work virtually pain-free. She left a needle in my arm, which I removed at home when I realized my upper arm muscle was hurting. 2. The machine they use to heat the feet didn't work. She asked me to remove my shoes & socks and my feet were frozen when it was complete. Other than that she was pleasant & the affect from the acupuncture didn't last long. I did schedule a couple more appointments. An hour before my second appt in which I had already woken up early to attend, the receptionist called me to let me know that Christine was sick and would not be there. So we canceled, I didn't reschedule since I already had an appointment booked for 2 weeks after that. Day before my 2nd appointment I get another call, the receptionist again... had to switch my appt from Am to Pm because Christine had something come up. I said ok 230pm is fine, since I had this weekday off to do my appointments. Then the receptionist calls again about an hour later, saying she actually needs to cancel because Christine won't be in. So she tries to reschedule with me, instead says I'll see if Christine can fit you in sometime after I get off work that week, that she would call me back. Never got a call back. And I'm ok with that. I don't need that kind of negativity in my life! If I were to cancel an appointment an hour before the appointment I would get charged!
