PQ H, David C and Robert O's reviews were accurate. I've never dealt with someone as rude and unprofessional as owner Lauren. Communication was scattered from the start but I started planning months out, so I wasn't concerned. As the event got closer I requested one detail - a contact number for either Lauren (owner) or the delivery person. This seems like a standard request for a caterer. It becomes a more important detail when the phone number listed for Chanterelle to Go had never been answered (called prob 25-30X) and when it took 10-14 days to get a response back from the owners. After multiple unanswered emails and voicemails requesting a contact number, I finally posted on Facebook literally begging for a response. What I got was unbelievable. Lauren called me. I thought she might say, 'Hey, sorry, I've seen your emails and heard your voicemails but I've been slammed. Not an excuse, but here is the number you need xxxxxx. We'll see you tomorrow!" Simple. Problem solved. Nope! She called and started yelling at me. She told me she had been working overtime and she heard me calling and she was too busy to answer. She said I had no business requesting a contact number and how dare I call and email multiple times. I think she was trying to embarrass me??? I don't know. I truly don't know how you can speak to a customer the way she spoke to me, especially when I was literally ONLY asking for a contact number!!! If you're so busy you don't babe She was so rude I was terrified she just wouldn't show up with the food day of. The food did show up. On time. It was good. Sad that the high quality of the food didn't even begin to make up for the stress and shock of working with Lauren. I would 100% not recommend using them if you have an event that is important to you and if you have high expectations for how to communicate with customers. read more

We can in no way recommend them as prepared to handle a wedding. Chanterelle To Go's communications with us were terse and sparse. Here was the email we recieved a week and half before our wedding when we reached out to inquire why they had not responded in over two weeks, "...as I was going to let you know we were no longer interested in working your event. I believe you took our food catering service as a wedding planning service." [italics mine] Instead we used the Whole Foods in Hadley. Their staff were friendly, accommodating, and professional. We got many, many compliments on the food, it was about 1/4th the price Chanterelle To Go would have charged while also providing a wider variety for our guests. My fiancee and I have to agree with the review by David C. Chanterelle To Go has been -- by far -- the least professional business we have dealt with in our wedding planning. When we first reached out to Lauren and Max by email with all of our wedding information, they took five days to return our email. I chalked it up to the fact that they are a small business, and they are likely busy on weekends. They attached their menus and mentioned that they had experience in the specific cuisine that we requested (i.e. they gave no indication that they were unavailable on our wedding day). I responded later that day, and I asked them if they do tastings. Two days later, they informed me that they do not do tastings, but I was welcome to visit their to-go restaurant in Westfield. That weekend -- 4 days after Lauren and Max first responded to us -- my fiancee and I drove an hour and a half to the restaurant. We tried the food, and we decided that we wanted to hire them. I emailed them from the restaurant and asked to hire them. 3 days later, I still hadn't heard anything from Chanterelle, so I called the restaurant. The woman who worked there told me, "Yeah... sometimes they take a while to get back to people. But they should respond to you soon." 5 days after that (8 days after my original email), I emailed them again. No response. 35 (!!!) days later, I received an email from Chanterelle: "Please excuse my delay in getting back to you. I had 5 other couples looking to book the same date and one sent us a deposit straight away." Planning a wedding is a stressful process for couples, but they in no way acknowledged the fact that their delay inconvenienced us in our search for a caterer. They have a severe lack of professional awareness. Needless to say, my fiancee and I consider it a blessing that we did not hire Chanterelle to cater our wedding. We found many professional catering companies in Western Massachusetts, and the one we hired has been incredibly responsive to our inquiries and requests. read more

Everyone was raving about Chanterelle To Go's food at my parent's anniversary party. We went for the Moroccan curated menu and we had the food to heat up at our house. I was a little nervous but the instructions were simple and and the food turned out delicious. I loved that it was not only affordable, tasty, and unique but that it supported local farms. read more

We used Chanterelle for our late August wedding, and the food was incredible! Lauren helped us in advance with the details, even how best to set up our tent so that people could flow freely around the buffet tables and drink station. Max and helpers were there the day of, and did the most amazing job with everything! All our guests raved about how amazing the food was, and we totally agree! Their prices are reasonable, and I love and deeply appreciate their passion for local food. My only regret: not taking seconds of the mac and cheese. Luckily we had leftovers! read more

Summary: Very good food; business manners need improvement. We had an experience a lot like David C.'s. Positives: the food was delicious and very reasonably priced. We're also glad that the caterers support local farmers and use local products. Somewhat less positive: the portions weren't overly generous. Four of our guests didn't show up, and yet we pretty much cleaned out the main course. It made me wonder if there would have been enough if everyone had come. But I can't really know. Also, communication could have been better. For example, I wish they had announced that the coffee service and dessert were ready instead of leaving everybody to figure it out on their own. Really negative: their business manners. A piece of equipment went missing after the event. I honestly didn't know who was responsible for taking care of this item - the caterers, the venue, the rental agency, who? So I e-mailed Chanterelle to explain the situation and ask about it, politely. I received an unnecessarily snippy response, a lot like David's. I sent another message to try to explain, politely, and the response to that one bordered on rude. Really, folks, it would have been sufficient to say, "I'm sorry, we don't usually handle that. We suggest that you check with ..." So, there's some room to grow here. read more

Local farm fresh food.. yes please!!! This food is fresh, creative and delicious! If you haven't visited their super adorable cafe, you need to check it out.. The pour-over coffee is insane! And the vegan, gluten free options are endless.. not to mention they have farm to freezer meals! Seriously this place is a must try for all... Love! read more

We had Chanterelle to go cater our wedding and they did a fantastic job! We did the paella party and the food was delicious! Our guests really enjoyed it. The buffet was laid out nicely and well labeled. Our wedding was a backyard wedding with a rustic feel and chanterelle to go matched our vision exactly. Lauren and Max were responsive and helpful through the planning process and we couldn't have been happier! I'd definitely recommend them. read more

Chanterelle was amazing. If you want to actually eat delicious food on your wedding, support local farms, and benefit from the expertise of a chef who both worked in NYC and is starting her own farm, call them. Over several meetings and emails, Lauren helped us choose a menu that was both seasonal and delicious, and represented us. Every single guest enjoyed the food immensely. Even picky guests who claimed they don't like lamb or turnips or asparagus thought everything was very tasty. Even the salad was delicious and beautiful, decorated with edible flowers. Considering how great the food was, the prices were very reasonable (and much better than their competitors with boring menu options). My biggest complaint is that I didn't get to eat any of the cocktail hour food because I was busy with the photographers - I'm still not over it. Call them! read more

The food we ordered to go was excellent. It is so hard to find places that serve organic food. The veggie burgers are good and I had an awesome pulled pork sandwich. We took home a variety of bake goods that were to die for. The owner was so nice and very helpful. I will definitely be back soon. read more

Sadly, Chanterelle-to-Go did not come through for us at our wedding. They made their own decision to change our table displays without consulting us, negating the months we spent collecting and assembling favors and wine bottles. This decision also threw off our entire color scheme. Additionally, though she had been instructed where our drinks and glasses were stored, she never instructed the bartenders, so our guests did not have enough water or glasses for drinks! She also showed up in a t-shirt (very unprofessional attire for a wedding). The only positive is that the food was delicious. However, we had requested a buffet, but she insisted on serving all 125 guests one-by-one, which took too long and left many people waiting. Our appetizer table also looked like an embarrassment, with no decoration, and without even bringing out all appetizers at once, which meant the food went quickly and left trays looking empty. I was shocked at the poor quality of their service, especially after having heard that they were recommended by our venue. I do NOT recommend Chanterelle-to-Go. read more
