I was in Chicago on September 8th-10th working at the GSX convention shooting a new series call READY. SET. DEMO. We didn't have any local contacts for video shooting or editing. I relied on Yelp to help me find a local vidoeographer. I contact Michael Slowik with Video Memories and he was extreamily professional and understood our unstructued shooting request. Mike and his team shot our footage, provided direction and edited all of the video. I can recommend this company any HIGHER than 110% satisfied without sounding like a paid commerical. I initially sent a text asking about their services and was asked to give the owner a call. He was very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and clearly concerned about getting the best possible quality from my old films. We arranged a time for me to drop off six Super 8 reels, and I was amazed when I received a text about a day later saying they were finished. What impressed me most was that he didn't simply transfer the film. He also corrected the playback speed and reduced some of the jitter that is common with old 8mm home movies. The final result exceeded my expectations. The converted movies were returned on a USB drive for an additional $10. Pricing was very reasonable, turnaround time was excellent, and I was especially glad to find a local service rather than shipping irreplaceable family memories somewhere and hoping for the best. I would absolutely recommend Midwest Digital Conversions for anyone looking to preserve old film, VHS, or Hi8 recordings.
