Outstanding food, quick friendly service, clean and welcoming atmosphere! A must to revisit!

We just happened upon this place during our stay in Pocatello, and we're so glad we did. The food was delicious and far more flavorful than most Mexican restaurants. The service was fabulous! We were even there with our two very young grandchildren and they were so fast getting us our food, we didn't need to entertain them while waiting. I had a combo plate with a chimichanga and a Chile relleno. Both were extremely delicious. My husband loved his burrito and my grandson thought his mini Mexican pizza was great! HAPPY SURPRISE!! What a lovely and welcoming place this restaurant was!! It's in a funky spot and glaringly happily decorated so it's difficult to miss! DO NOT MISS THIS PLACE!! Upon walking inside, we felt welcome and were seated quickly. A large group of people were celebrating a birthday and it was being served by one person, the amazing Raul!! He was attentive and kind and of great spirits. We felt cared about and cared for and that's such a rare thing these days. Our server Raul was truly amazing and attentive. We ate wonderful chips and salsa before our entrees arrived and it was a lively atmosphere with people pouring in and filling the place up! Hubby was happy as well. I ordered the tres chilies and was extremely happy that I did!! The pork green chili was tender and spicy and the relleño was fabulous which leaves the red chili Colorado. That was my favorite as it reminded me of my mom's recipe. The prices are reasonable and I'm happy to say I'd return again!! Good job Chapala!!! read more

I Love coming to this restaurant. They are very helpful, pleasant, fast and have delicious food. I usually get the Chimichanga or the Mexican Pizza appetizer as a meal. Hugely disappointed tonight. This was our third visit and it will, sadly, be our last. First trip the food was terrific and the service was good. Second trip I ordered a shredded beef chimichanga and was given cubed chicken in a chimichanga. Service still pretty decent. Tonight we were seated in a corner and rushed through the ordering process. Dinner was basic-no seasoning to be had so as not to displease those who aren't sure they like Mexican food, I suppose. No check back from the server except to stand and gesture rudely to my daughter-in-law to pass her plate over more quickly so it could be cleared. She sent the bus boy over with our check. I'll save my Mexican food experience-and my money-for better next time (El Abuelito in Jackson.) read more

We decided to try a different Mexican restaurant today. We haven't had any luck so far. Today wasn't any different. The food was horrible. Carne Asada taco's drenched in oil. The meat was little cube's of jerky. Very dry. And no flavor. We asked for more salsa for our chips. You get charged for that also. WHAT! We will never go back. read more

We had the sweetest waiter and I'm so bummed I don't remember his name! We went on Monday 1/25/21 around lunch time. He was funny and just a great server. The food though!! The food was so delicious! I got chicken enchiladas and it was smackin'!! The chips come with salsa and beans, add a spoon of salsa to the beans and they are fire !! They are not shady with the margaritas! One margarita got me lightweight buzzed which is surprising considering I'm a borderline alcoholic but by the 2nd one I was white girl wasted and that is the reason I'm writing this great review today. We needed a place for a large group and I'm so glad we tried this place. They were able to accommodate our family group of over 40 on just 3 hours notice. The food was great and everyone was happy. I did not like this restaurant at all. The food was less than adequate and incredibly bland. For being a Mexican restaurant I thought there would be some flavor, but I was brutally disappointed. I got the tacos and they were so greasy and lacking in flavor. The food was also rather expensive, especially for the quality of the food. The service was the only good experience, hence the 1 star. The staff was cheerful and attentive but I will not be returning to this restaurant again. read more

I have to say the water was delicious. The bean dip was lacking seasoning, the Chile Riano required a steak knife! The chimichanga had cinnamon in it? What the hell? My shredded beef taco was ground beef, and they had so much filler in it that it tasted like wheat bread I could even taste meat! I have nothing good to say about this restaurant I was in there at 4:30 in the afternoon the place should've been packed there were only three tables with people eating... I should've known at that point to turn around and walk out the door! and find someplace else to eat. read more

Their salsa sucks; it tastes like they took a whole bottle of Cholula, and mixed it with tomatoes, onions, and water. It's probably the worst salsa I've ever had. They said that I was the first person that ever complained about it, but I told them that most people probably can't get past the spiciness to taste the terrible flavor.
