If you are in Pocatello, eat here. We dined on a Friday night. 90% capacity. No line. A little slow to get us seated but as kind as other reviewers have noted. Everyone was kind. Thank you! Dinner took 30 minutes to reach our table. A little long and it's not like they were full with a line of people waiting. Their chips looked and seemed generic, but they were good. Salsa was about a 10/10 for me. Flavor, heat, consistency. Perfect. Bean dip was good. Nacho queso was fun, but a little plain. I appreciated having it. I had 3 shredded beef tacos, and beans and rice. One of my major complaints of an otherwise very good experience. Is that two out of my three tacos were soggy by the time I got to them and I tried to get to them immediately before I started in on the beans and rice to prevent eating soggy tacos. Anyway, that was a big disappointment. Beyond that, the freshness and flavor and quality was great. I enjoyed everything. I would definitely eat here again. I'm not sure if my tacos were soggy from the tomatoes or the shredded beef or because they were sitting under the heat light for too long. I would need to figure that out next time, if I'm ever in Pocatello again... There was live music, and that was fun. At the end of our meal thy brought out chips with cinnamon, whipped cream, and caramel drizzle. Free of charge. This is not my type of thing at all. But I have to admit it was a nice little treat after dinner and was very, very good. The only reason I'm not giving this a five star review is because of the soggy tacos. The service was worth the road trip stop on the road. We were served bb a family team, and they were so kind the entire time we were there, extending their lunch hours so we could order off that menu and refilling our chips and drinks. The food was pretty good too! Their street tacos were really authentic and tasty especially. I would say to stick to what you know, the shrimp are not fresh but we're still really good for being frozen. We went here to eat while staying at the Black Swan Inn. It was fabulous! My favorite was how we were greeted when we walked in the restaurant. Super friendly and complimentary. It set the tone for the rest of our time there. They have a yummy cheese, salsa, bean and chip combo that we ordered for our appetizer and it was over the top. Service was high energy and friendly. Seated by the window and the air conditioning works amazingly well. Love that on a 100 degree. We had no booze or dessert. We loved that the chips come with cheese, beans and salsa which is definitely made in house. Chile relleno was delicious and I liked the red sauce. Very tasty and chunky. Enchiladas are made with corn tortillas which fell apart quickly. We ordered chicken and cheese and we only got cheese. They quickly remedied that. The carnitas is delicious. The red sauce, rice and beans are flavorful. I would repeat. Five stars? Need green chili option, crispy relleno and perhaps a more flavorful enchilada sauce. Our waiter was beyond happy and friendly and great and was prompt to come and check on us and so was the food! I nabbed the fajita burrito and the steak was thinly sliced and cooked perfectly! No bad chunks or overly chewy pieces of meat which was a higher surprise! The red sauce has a slight kick of heat but nothing too crazy but was nice. Refried beans and rice were def seasoned and not just out of a can. You can tell a lot of thought was put into the food. The best part of choosing to dine at Cielito Lindo Cocina Mexicans is the friendly faces that greet you like you are a beloved relative coming over for dinner. I had the pleasure of sitting at a booth close to the front door and watching customers faces light up with each amicable greeting. My husband and I loved the free flight of dips to go with our tortilla chips; much more fun than just chips and salsa! Our food came out quickly and tasted hot and fresh. We were well attended to with frequent drink refills. The only critique I had was I wish the enchilada sauce was a bit earthier, it was a little on the sweet side for my liking. The owner clearly puts his heart and soul into this establishment which was evident by the time he took to connect with several customers during our time there. There was a large birthday party going on while we were there and the group was treated to a John Denver sing-a-long before they donned beautiful sombreros for a photo op with the owner. He then gave the birthday girl a special gift from the restaurant. The main dishes we ordered were "ok"...the street tacos el pastor had a sweet sauce I wasn't a fan of and the tamales were pretty spicy (I liked them, my wife did not). My family and I have made an effort to try different restaurants in Pocatello. After visiting several this was by far our favorite. The food was amazing, but it's everything else that puts this place over the top. The service was so fast for a Saturday night and the entire staff treated us like family. I really enjoy when I try a new place to eat and the reviews live up to the hype. Don't pass this up! I came in around 3:30pm on a Thursday. Slow as expected and preferred, but loved that they were open for early dinner. Atmosphere was welcoming, clean, and cozy. This restaurant does not have bar seating, but Jessica so very sweetly offered me any seat in the restaurant that I liked. Based on other reviewers and staff recommendations, I went with the steak fajitas, a la carte shredded beef chimichanga, chili relleno, side guacamole (for the table chips that already come with salsa and bean dip - appetizer guac is advertised for a large group or family), and a grilled jalapeño. I LOVED that they offer a grilled jalapeño as a side. Chefs kiss. Note that I came alone and have enough leftovers for at least two more meals. The salsa was awesome, does have a kick which is another plus for me but I am a spice freak, may be too hot for regular people. Bean dip was mediocre but an addition I couldn't help but indulge in. Guacamole tasted so fresh and flavorful. The steak fajitas were SO good beyond explanation, you just need to do it - they stole the show. Chili rellenos are made fresh every morning, only mildly battered which is refreshing and extra extra cheesy and saucy, another plus for me. Chimichanga was also delicious, so filling. Side beans were just regular as the dip, and although the rice appeared to be of the same quality, it actually had a different and awesome seasoning that I just couldn't look past. Everything came out fast, fresh, hot, delicious. Carlos was prompt with my drink questions/preferences/orders, while sustaining a very genuine, kind and respectful psyche. I found it endearing that he addressed me as señorita, it solidified his professionalism whilst keeping true to the culture of this restaurant. Jessica was also sincere, friendly, and very attentive. She paid attention to detail and knew exactly when to approach me. Super genuine with lots of menu knowledge and thus, beautiful recommendations. She was respectful yet fun to interact with. Her, Carlos, and the other gentlemen working were always on top of it - cleared plates and asked questions concerning my satisfaction and their quality. I didn't have to request to correct anything. This place sure knows that a good restaurant starts with a good backbone and that's something I can get behind, something that proceeds to success and should be more of a widespread practice. I've been to this restaurant a few times when visiting family in Pocatello and we have all really enjoyed it. The service has been great-they're super friendly and kind. The food has been exceptional. It's hard to find edible Mexican food in Idaho ‍ but the food here is delicious. I have tried the Chile Rellenos, fajitas and a few other dishes and everything has been pretty tasty! Hoping they keep their pricing and menu the same in the future. The only ding is it seems like they host parties and sometimes they can get a bit loud. Last time we were there a guy was yelling into a microphone to the people in his group and it didn't make for a relaxing atmosphere. Seems like that shouldn't be allowed so it doesn't mess up everyone else's time. read more
