Started with an easy booking, then the place and staff are great. Very clean! Definitely use again!

We dropped our sweet girl off at this place when we went on a 7 day vacation out of state, assuming that she would be well cared for. We figured she would not eat as much and not be as lively because of her being anxious from her being away from us, however when we picked her up it was much worse than what we expected. We picked up our 10 month old lab puppy who was covered in filth. She is white so you could see clearly all over her legs how dirty she was. We did not notice until we had gotten home since she was so excited for us to bring her home (gee I wonder why). She also REEKED of urine, probably had been sitting in it for the entire stay that's how bad it smelled. When we got home her paws were even still wet and her fur was stained, and the whole family was now smelling of urine. I wish we had taken pictures to show the damage but we washed her as soon as we smelled it and had to clean the whole house. If the owner of the establishment reaches out I will update my review accordingly, but as of right now I am very upset about our puppy's treatment! read more

We needed a pet lodge for five dogs and one cat because my sister is trying to get out of Florida away from Hurricane Milton. Jeff immediately told me would find a place for them. He was very professional and didn't jack his rates up in our emergency. Chapin Pet Lodge is immaculate with big runs and great caring people. I Highly recommend them. read more

Our Vet recommended this kennel, and to be honest, and I am very much surprised. We read the previous review, but since our Vet recommended this place, we decided to use them. We will never use this kennel again, and we will discuss it with our Vet. We went on a 7-day trip for Thanksgiving and picked up our two dogs on Nov 29, 2022. When we picked up our dogs, one is 10 years, and the other is 6 months old, we noticed two disturbing things. First, the 10-year-old dog had his choke collar around his neck and harness while the puppy still had his collar on. I thought the Kennel had prepared for their departure until I was told that the puppy had chewed his harness during the week. I was later told that this kennel routinely leaves the harness and collars on the dog. I was mortified as this is dangerous and potentially lethal, especially with a choke collar. The unattended dog could have choked himself to death before anyone noticed (see below). Luckily, the worst thing that happened was the brand-new harness was chewed and destroyed. The second issue was that the house-trained puppy smelled of day-old urine. I do not know, but the dog probably had to go to the bathroom and urinate in the kennel. After urinating, he probably lay down in it. The dogs were probably unattended for a long time. The lack of attention infuriated me, especially since the dogs had their collars on (see above). The puppy received a bath the moment we got home...he is better now. To be fair, the kennel offered to pay for the 35-day-old harness. But at the time, I wanted nothing to do with that place, so I refused. I figured I would be even with the Kennel if I never returned. I hope this helps one person and that person does not make the same mistake I did. This place gets zero stars. read more

Just moved to the area, looking at a place for our dog to stay came across Chapin Pet Loge. I always want to avoid getting emotional with my post but give the facts instead. From what I already had read on Yelp I was a little more apprehensive than other places but wanted to give them a chance. coming from a state that also requires shots we thought we were good, however, upon arrival they told us that she would need another shot like a booster, they are the only kennel that we have run into that requires the booster part. We are heading out of town and now we can not drop off. We called a vet and told them our situation and they were amazing and told us to come right over. We came back to the kennel and they had us take her back to her kennel and put everything inside. No news is good news so nothing was told that was wrong. That was good to know. Picking her up, I did not know that they do not take American Express which is not something that I have ever run into nowadays. When picking her up we did get all her stuff back however, upon her placing her paws on me she smelled very strongly of pee. In the car she made the entire car smell very strongly of pee, getting home my parents could smell it as well. She was also given a bath the day before dripping off so I knew that she was very clean to start the time at the kennel. Strait to the bath she went. She had been kenneled many times at other places and I have never had her coming home smelling so bad. I never pay for the bath because it gives me an idea of what care she got from the place she was at. We love supporting small family-owned businesses that are Christian but we will not be returning here for boarding as my dog should not smell horrible from pee. read more

Starting over fourteen months ago when we first arrived here we have boarded our nearly two year old Chocolate Lab off and on again at the Chapin Pet Lodge for periods of time varying from a few days to a week and half. She gets excited when we get near the lodge, loves being there and we couldn't be happier for her. The owner operator is engaging with me and our dog and genuinely cares about her. Can't speak to what others may have experienced but ours has been good and up to expectations. read more

Very disappointed in the level of care. Years pass we boarded our pets and the care was very good. We called and was told everything was going well. My dogs love to go to Chapin Pet Lodge! The boarding is easy, fun, reasonably priced and convenient. The customer service is welcoming and friendly. The buildings and surroundings are well kept and up to date. It's located on a lovely rural road, away from heavy traffic. We always have an excellent experience with Chapin Pet lodge. read more

Recently left my puppy at Chapin Per Lodge. This place was very clean; the staff were very nice and helpful; my puppy was calm when he was picked up. I will definitely board my puppy here in the future. read more

DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS HERE!! we brought our dogs here to stay until our house was finished being built. we were promised a "doggy suite" and instead our dogs were put into "general population" and were placed into disgusting kennels. it looked somewhat decent when we dropped them off, decently clean. we dropped off their food, blankets, and a toy. we came back to get them early and when walking in there it was disgusting. their kennel was full of pee. our little dog was covered in poop and they both smelled bad. and we had to throw away one of our dogs blankets because it was covered in poop and pee. we didn't even get the toy back either. we caught them by surprise by showing up early and it was obvious our dogs were neglected. do not bring your dogs here!!!! read more

We recently had our three dogs booked at Chapin Pet Lodge for Thursday night through Sunday afternoon. We had three gift certificates each for a 3 day weekend stay. My wife dropped the dogs off on Thursday afternoon around 1pm. She then met me for an out of town weekend trip. After getting back into town, I went to pick up the dogs on Sunday around 1:30pm. We would have picked them up earlier, but they do not open until 1pm on Sunday. When I arrived I was asked about the gift certificates, and whether I wanted to buy some. I explained that I was trying to redeem the gift certificates, and not buy any. The woman at the counter said she wasn't familiar with the certificates and would have to call the owner. When the owner arrived, he got very defensive about the gift certificates, and stated they were for 3 days, Friday-Sunday, regardless of what time you picked up the dogs on Sunday. I explained that I didn't agree with this, and I thought they should be good for any three days. I said it wasn't fair to have to pay for Sunday when they do not open before the required check-out time (12pm). After disagreeing with him, I said I would pay for Thursday night's stay. I then asked about the play times and wanted to make sure we charged only for the times they were actually played with. They should have had 2 play times for the full days, but I expected they only had one play time for Thursday and Sunday. At this time, the owner, Jeff, became very angry and told the woman at the counter to just give me my dogs and not charge me anything. He said our dogs were no longer welcomed back there, and I apparently wanted everything for free. I was kind of shocked in disbelief with how the owner of a business could act like this. With the assistance of the woman at the counter and one of the owners son's, I got my three dogs and all their belongings. As I tried to get all the dogs and their belongings situated in my vehicle, the owner came out to leave in his vehicle. I told him I had planned on paying for services we had, and he abruptly told me that I never planned on paying and got in his car and drove off. I am still shocked at how an owner can act like this. After getting home, I read another review on Angie's list about how the owner, Jeff, treated a retired military veteran the same way when he questioned the military discount policy. I was disgusted at how he treated a member of our armed services. I understand as a business owner you can make your own pricing policies and rules, but there is no excuse at how this owner reacts when a customer questions the policies. He may need to attend an anger management course! read more

I wonder why some people don't appreciate the customers that come to their businesses I finally read the reviews on this place and agree that there needs to be a place saved next to the owner at church. He gets very defensive when asked questions and is not engaged in the day to day activities of what is going on. I can understand running a dog kennel can be stressful, I get that you might have other things going on. But for an owner to not confirm a reservation not follow through when a customer asks you questions and get defensive and argue makes me wonder why you are in the pet business at all. Pets are like family members and if you get a bad feeling maybe the hospitality of this kennel is not welcoming for our pets either. Sorry for the poor rating I don't usually do this but the response to that last post made me sad. to welcome a former customer to church when the owner is clearly not coming from a good place. Once again my apologies for this review, you ruined my weekend so thank you! Perhaps I'll come by church since I'm in town. Please have that seat open so we can pray over each other. read more

I cannot express how upset I am right now. We have a sweet dog who was entrusted with Chapin Pet Lodge to watch her for several days and when I say I am disappointed, that is a severe understatement. Firstly, when we dropped off our dog, she was clean as she is a light color so it's noticeable when she is dirty. When we picked her up, she was so dirty that her paws and undercoat was yellowish green and she reeked of urine. This tells me that she was left to lay in her own filth for who knows how long. This is so dangerous for dogs as diseases can be caught from them being exposed to their own filth for days. Also if this is happening to one dog, it is most likely happening to many others which is awful. When you entrust your animals to a place for several days, you expect them to take care of your animal to perform basic duties such as letting them out to go potty and feed them and that isn't even happening. I spent over $100 for this service or lack there of as my dog was not taken care of. Do not board your dog here at all! This is completely unacceptable. read more
