We figured she would not eat as much and not be as lively because of her being anxious from her being away from us, however when we picked her up it was much worse than what we expected. We picked up our 10 month old lab puppy who was covered in filth. She is white so you could see clearly all over her legs how dirty she was. We did not notice until we had gotten home since she was so excited for us to bring her home (gee I wonder why). She also REEKED of urine, probably had been sitting in it for the entire stay that's how bad it smelled. When we got home her paws were even still wet and her fur was stained, and the whole family was now smelling of urine. I wish we had taken pictures to show the damage but we washed her as soon as we smelled it and had to clean the whole house. If the owner of the establishment reaches out I will update my review accordingly, but as of right now I am very upset about our puppy's treatment!

We used to have 2 dogs and are now down to one - both of them are rescues and suffer from separation anxiety issues. Happy to say that both of them were fine going into this facility and fine coming out. Our surviving dog has had short and extended stay and has come home happy from both types of boarding. She has a spa day before returning home and seems to really love her routine and pamper session while there. She can be a smelly little old girl, so really appreciate that her bath from the groomers there lasts longer than any other place. During a power outage after bad weather a few years back, they regularly kept us updated on how they were taking care of the pets in general. We really appreciated the updates as were unable to go and fetch her early. The staff is super friendly and accommodating. This is a top notch facility and highly recommend them.

He wouldn't open his eyes and appeared exhausted. That was yesterday and he still hasn't eaten anything yet. I don't know the environment that he was held in for 9 hours. We boarded our dogs Oakley and Theo from July 19th-28th at Irmo Pet Retreat. We had used them…read morebefore and never had an issue but this is a big enough red flag that I wanted to share. When we dropped them off, Theo (our Labradoodle) had a cut on the end of his back from trying to crawl under our house and scraped it against the concrete. We weren't worried about it since we had been putting Neosporin on it and he couldn't reach it so it wasn't being messed with. The employee there mentioned they had a spray they could use on it and my husband said that would be fine to use it if they wanted. When we got back from our trip, Aaron went to go pick up the dogs. Once he got there, the employee said, "I don't want you to be shocked so I'll tell you now but...all the hair on Theo's back has fallen out." 1st problem: our dogs hair fell out...and we weren't contacted. Sure enough, his whole back was bare and there were some sore spots on his back that you could tell hurt him to touch. We took him to the vet, spent hundreds of dollars running tests and taking skin samples and trying to figure out what could've happened. All the vets and nurses were totally baffled and frustrated alongside us. The vet gave us a call later saying his bloodwork came back fine but the best they could all figure was that it was a chemical burn...they suggested maybe he rolled in cleaning products or something and I needed to figure out what products Irmo Pet Retreat uses. 2nd problem: Our dog lost all hair on his back and has sores from chemical burns...and we weren't contacted. I'll try to attach the screenshots of the email I sent to irmo pet retreat and their response and photos of Theo's poor back/sores. I'm honestly confused and just don't know how to proceed. It would be one thing if an accident happened and then they contacted us...but it's another thing that this happened in their care, and very alarming that they didn't contact us with his significant hair loss. He could've had several things wrong with him and definitely would've needed to be taken to the vet. SO. Seems very shady and anywho, we're pretty disappointed to say the least.
