I visited Char Le Blanc salon after a friend of mine recommended Char to get my hair coloured. Let me tell you he is a true artist! he coloured my hair and put soft highlight and couldn't resist but to try his haircut. I walked out feeling like a model! I loved the atmosphere ,they also have drinking menu. I've never witnessed that in any hair salon I've ever been to. I had a glass wine while he was doing my hair it was very relaxing. I came in to get my hair dyed an ash brown shade with dimension - I have grey hairs which was the main reason I wanted to dye my hair so I didn't want it looking all that different than my brown hair I have now. It came out black with absolutely no dimension, just flat black hair that I could've easily done with boxed dye, probably could've been done better at home. I came home so upset considering I paid $150 for something I could've paid $15 for it to honestly look better. I called and complained and we scheduled an appointment to fix it. They called 45 minutes before my scheduled appointment to push it an hour later, saying it was to my benefit because they would have 'more time to work on my hair.' I came during the rescheduled time and the hair stylist was running around between clients doing a sloppy job (got dye all over the place). He also told me I should've expected it to come out this way but all he can do is lift it half a degree. Afterwords my hair had warm highlights only on the roots, and dark pieces at the front. I had pieces of black and then pieces of extremely warm brown, it looked so bad and NOTHING like I asked for originally. I went to Sally's beauty supply to get hair dye remover and after $180 later I had the same hair colour I had going into this but obviously much more damaged. Extremely disappointed. I am so disappointed because I would go here every summer to get a keratin treatment (which I have noticed has gone down in quality since I first started going in 2017 which is why I stopped going as of 2019). I thought maybe keratin is just harder to do so I came back to do a full colour (thinking this couldn't possibly be easy to screw up - apparently it was.) I will never be returning to this salon again and I really hope you take this review when considering if this is where you want to go. Not worth your money, please go elsewhere!!! read more

I had a great experience here. From the moment I stepped in, to the moment I stepped out, the service was absolutely #1. My hair had seen better days, and it really needed some TLC. I always thought my hair was hard to manage from previous experiences with other salons, but it seemed so effortless this time around. I had an awesome haircut and experience with my stylist, she is experienced, knowledgeable, personable and skilled. She did an amazing job from beginning to end. I have to say I walked out of the salon feeling like new. Honest. I like that they ask their clients for feedback with a quick survey; to me, it means they are committed to identifying which areas they can improve on. Also, This is the first salon I've been to, to have a liquor licence! How cool is that? As an added bonus they play some good tracks to listen to as well. read more

Fab! It's pricy, no doubt (my husband would spit out his water in disbelief if he found out my cut was $70), but the service is top notch and I loved the styling. I was due for my once-every-two-years haircut and was looking for to get it done over the holidays in my neighborhood. This place could accommodate and the reviews looked good so I gave it a try. As a side note, there doesn't seem to be a lot of hair cut options in the city, do people not get their locks tamed Mississauga? I showed up, was treated to a lovely cup of hot water (my choice, as all their tea options were caffienated) and a yummy chocolate. My stylist Didi was wonderful, she made me feel comfortable and gave suggestions and was so nice to talk to. And my hair wash was a dream (come on, we all know that's a huge deal when going to a salon)! It seems more people come here to do fancier work on their hair like highlights and colouring, but for a regular cut its also worth it, I think. If you're up for trying something fancier than your chitown $8 cuts, this is a great option! read more

The salon itself is beautiful -- but our experience there could not have been worse. The day of my mom's visitation, I booked a blow dry for myself and a friend to help prepare for the long day ahead. Hoping to have a relaxing start to the day, we could not have been more disappointed. While at the salon, the hot water stopped working mid-shampoo. The stylists didn't appear particularly concerned, nor apologetic. When it came time to cash out, the debit/credit machine was not working. After trying for 20 plus minutes, we gave them all the cash we had ($30), and offered to return the following day and pay the additional amount ($40). I have visited the salon several times before, and my information was all on file. I spoke with the owner on the phone, and explained we could not be late for my own mom's visitation and would return the following day. He was unapologetic about the machine being down, and about the hot water not working. In fact, the same day, the salon called while we were at the visitation to remind us to return. We returned the next morning the salon opened and paid the remainder, but we will obviously not be returning. I love supporting local businesses, but was appalled by the owner & the salons unapologetic attitude and lack of compassion given the circumstances. I encourage you to find another salon with owners & staff that care about their clients, and not just the bottom line. read more

I booked an appointment here at the begging of December for an updo for my brothers wedding. I asked for a low bun to the side, have had this done before many times, some of my friends are able to do it themselves and I just can't therefore I pay. After an hour of struggle the hair stylist couldn't do it, I told him to stop, put my hair down and was ready to walk out since time was running out. Before leaving, the front desk person offered to at least put some waves into my hair since I looked worse walking out then walking in. It took about 5 mins with the curling iron. I was super upset by the experience. At the end they charged me the full amount of $85 for the service. I thought that was ridiculous since I never got what I paid for. The saloon had a couple of customers in it and I didn't wanna cause a scene so I just paid, however the owner was made aware. Things like this happen unfortunately but this was just bad customer service. The saloon owner should have approached me, apologized and offered to fix my updo or not charge me at all. No apologies. Could have done the waves at home for free with my curling iron. read more

Probably the best cut and colour (Char did a beautiful balayage on me) I've ever had! Amazing service. Felt really well taken care of. All the free cappuccino's for my coffee addicted self while I was there all afternoon. Appreciate how much time they spent on me, I was probably there for 5 hours! That might bug some people, but the time is well spent! They also serve lunch and cocktails which is an awesome idea. I'll definitely be back :) And so will my family! read more

My first impression of this place was it's very nice, all the staff were kind! I paid 70 dollars for a hair cut which is alright I guess, a little expensive considering I'm a poor college student. I always wear my hair curly, so when i got it cut the hairdresser curled it for me. This was two weeks ago, today I just straightened my hair for the first time for a special occasion and realized my hair is really visibly lopsided, like the left side is at least two inches longer than the right... For the haircut to be 70 bucks and it to look this horrible straightened, I'm shocked!!! Im hoping to get some sort of touch up or refund because I cant afford to spend so much money on a hair cut again just for it to look like this read more

Came here a few months ago for a root touch-up and blow-out. Overall the place is very elegant and clean. I had an appointment and was taken care of right away. My service was fine, not great. I think my main issue was that my skin around my hairline was not treated with any cream or barrier substance and after my hair was dyed my face had black stains from hair dye. This then resulted in pretty abrasive scrubbing with a towel to remove the dye by the stylist. I am not one to complain at the time and since my skin was stained I guess this was the only option? Afterwards another stylist, a very nice Syrian gentleman did my blowout. The blowout was fantastic and it was heartwarming to hear the gentleman's story of recently moving to Canada. I'm still shopping around for a salon, maybe my experience was just an off day? The color and blowout itself were good. read more

I probably researched about 20 salons since I just moved here from the states... despite this being right around the corner from me, location and convenience is NOT why I chose to go to Char le Blanc salon. A few factors played into why I chose to get my hair completely redone here: 1. The easy to use website and lot of social media: This salon actually features on their instagram and twitter before and after pics, tells you who the hairstylist that did it, and more, (features of products, etc.) Prices are featured by which hair stylist levels you prefer too, which I liked 2. The customer service: I called and asked probably a million questions to one of the girls, and she was extremely patient with me - actually i called twice. Not only that, but I got fit in, last minute, and was told exactly who I would be seeing, which was cool because I could look up her previous work on the Instagram they had. 3. The environment: immediately when I walked in, (despite being drab and almost in pajamas, not quite i tell you, I'm no hobo yet!) my hair stylist and another girl greeted me, put away my coat, chatted with me while she prepared her tools, went over in detail how I wanted my hair cut, etc. She wasn't like most hair stylists that brush you off and "tell you they know what they're doing" which I hate. 4. The perks: during my lavish shampooing it was quiet, they played awesome music in the salon and was extremely quiet (they must have great walls to absorb the sound). Not only that, I was offered a menu of many items, free and for a small fee like coffee, martinis, mini gourmet chocolates to have while I was getting my hair cut - which is foreign to me. I ordered the FREE espresso (yum) and they gave me a delish chocolate. Now, I walked in here for the first time in 6 years telling her to chop it all off (Rose was my stylist) and I don't regret it at all. I was walking into the salon expecting to cry when I walked out, however, I had never felt sexier when I left! They use excellent products, my hair lasted with my blow dry for about 3-4 days, and everyone who's seen is is so shocked at how amazing my hair is/how different I looked. Rose is extremely talented, and knew exactly how the layers would frame my face (I have a weird oblong face going on, obviously) and she totally nailed it. During that time, Char actually came in, I was introduced to him and his wife, and they made the environment even that much more relaxed, joking around having a good friday morning, and made me feel extremely welcome to the salon. Really, right now I'm just yelling at my hair to grow back so I can come back and visit sooner. **Nails** I got shellac mani and considering its spa standards and prices, I was disappointed. I only noticed after leaving that some nails had air bubbles. The whole application (shellac removal + application) took over 1hr30. The cost was $50. I would definitely save my money and go to the Asian nail salons. read more

I recently moved to Oakville, and I had my hair cut and colored at this salon. I chose it from the reviews on yelp, and was excited to see the wine service. I was very disappointed in my outcome. The cut was nothing like the picture I brought in, and I had to get the stylist to cut it twice. The entire process took 5 hours, cost me over $300, and I left unhappy. Char was happy to fix my hair (which took another 2 hours), but I was still not happy with the cut after the attempt to fix it. I ended up having to go to a different salon, and spend another large sum of money to get what I wanted. If atmosphere is what you want, than the salon is good. The quality of cut and color was not worth the money I paid. Also, as a side note, one of the stylists came in from the back, and made the place smell strongly of smoke...which is not the atmosphere I like to have in a salon. I'm hoping that I had a one off experience, and that most people have better. I wanted to share my experience because I am disappointed that I spent so much money for something I wasn't happy with, and I hope to help someone make a good choice if possible. read more

Don't waste your time at this salon. They totally lie. I requested a level 1 stylist and was told this would cost $45 which I was fine with. The girl spent 1.5 hours on my hair and when I went to pay they said it was $62 because the $45 price is based on one hour service. I didn't know she was going to spend so much time on my hair. She worked extremely slow. They don't tell you this when you book or online. I was totally scammed and will never return. read more

The service was well done and while I loved my hair turn out and was well treated the entire time the price they quoted me with ($160) was not at all the price I payed. Considering I was told it would be under 200 and ended up costing $240 I was pretty upset.. I know it's only an $80 difference but I can't justify going back and spending another $240! read more

Char gives horrible service; starts late; gives more lift to other clients; rough when cutting by abruptly pushing the head from side to side; in between goes to talk to other clients for at least 10 minutes leaving me hanging there with half wet hair half blow dried hair; very unprofessional! Then asks his assistant to take over. For what he charges he delays the consultation and the cut and the blow dry, it's certainly not worth it! Didn't feel pampered at all! I had my hair colour and straighten. Big Mistake! If they know what they are doing, I would not have loss lots of hair after the treatment. My hair starts falling from the roots and I returned to them to show what happened and the owner gave me two free treatments for my hair to hopefully grow it back. No luck! My hair keeps thinning and falling and so when I decided to get the money I paid for the straightening, the owner told me that since I accepted the free treatments, he cannot return the cost of the service they did to my hair and scalp even if the treatments did not work. It's been more than a year or two now and I still have that bald spot on top of my head where the hair did not grow at all that reminds me of what this Salon did to my hair is an irreversible damage. read more

I really wanted to love it here especially considering I went for my wedding up-do but sadly that wasn't the case. The girls were all very nice and my hair turned out nicely but it was NOT at all what I wanted. I ended up paying much more than other salons charge for a bride (and was told that was because the owner would be doing my hair which was not the case) and left completely unhappy (cried on the way to the makeup artist) because I was not listened to and not shown what was being done as it was supposed to be a "surprise" and as wedding mornings are very scheduled I had no time to get it fixed. I now have to look at my pictures and be unhappy because of my hair. read more

I used a Groupon to use their services and I called ahead to ask if I could get the hair stylist that was the expert on asymmetrical haircuts and they agreed but when I showed up for my appointment she was "sick" and unable to cut my hair. They had my phone number to call me and ask if I wanted to reschedule but chose not to so I show up and get stuck with someone who was okay but she did not cut my hair the way I wanted it cut and now I have to spend the next six months growing it out so I can get it the way I want it! I will not go back and I will not recommend them to anyone else which is too bad as I was in the market for a new hair stylist and now my search continues.... read more

Was quoted far less than the staggering price of $250 for my ombre/cut.. That pricing was based on Char(owner) doing my hair. I spent 90% of the 2 & a half hours of my appointment with his assistant. She got me set up, got my coffee, mixed my colour, stood beside him during application handing him supplies, washed my hair, toned my ends, blowdried my hair and cashed me out. I didnt see char crack a smile once the entire time I was there and listened to him belittle his employees. I don't care i f you're having a bad day but a good atmosphere is KEY for your clients to enjoy themselves and want to come back...... Which I don't. read more

This is my first time writing a review, I used yelp to help me narrow down a new salon to try that would be in close proximity to my home. The reviews for the most part seemed positive so I thought I would try it out. I will not spare every little detail but I left very disappointed and have made a choice to not go back and have the corrections to my hair made. I had a consult with who I'm sure was the owner. I told him exactly what I wanted done, highlights and a base colour also I was very specific as to the placement of my highlights as I wear my hair up 90% of the time. I felt as I was constantly being upsold on all of their products and services. I did engage in a thirty dollar treatment that was meant to protect my hair from the bleach. The total cost of my hair was $250, which I would be ok with if I didn't look exactly the way I did before I went in minus the three inches of hair that was chopped off when I said I wanted to keep the length. Still confused how an advanced stylist that has left my hair three inches shorter than I requested. Lastly, was the repeated burns from the blow dryer and the pulling and pushing of my head and hair!!! It was very painful :( read more
