Rainy night under a tin roof

Wow wow wow wow. What a fun experience. I posted about it on social media and now my friends all want to go. They were so amazed I found it but honestly I just searched "places like the hike inn" . Side note- I love that place too. Each are beautiful in their own different but similar mountain backwoods lodge beauty. Do them both. Do all the glamping. That's why I say! First of all, super easy to book. They have a cool but somewhat odd variety. There are a few cabins with a combo of beds (full and bunk) depending on which one you choose. There are also four rooms at the horse stable. As we were a party of two, we opted for the horse stable room. The price is per person and we didn't want to monopolize too much space. We got lucky and saw availability about a week and a half out. We also got lucky cause I loved the stable rooms. The horse stable rooms were small but with all you needed. They had hooks for a bag, a lamp, side table and porch with two rocking chairs. The bed is two twin memory foams but super comfy. You are literally next to the horses though. You can't hear them at all but beware if you have allergies. I also liked that these horse rooms were a tiny walk from the Main area- there was a family of 7 with lots of kids and we had our own space. It rained post hike and we were immersed in nature comfortably on the porch. The lodge itself is also beautiful. Wood and rustic but super clean. They have a modern bathhouse and potable water. A big porch to hangout and multiple fire rings. They also have hammocks. Meals are served family style together. They have a list that they seem to rotate through. All looked and sounded amazing. Very very accommodating for vegetarians. We had chicken and dumplings (stuffed portobellos for veg) with tons of sides for dinner. Plus dessert. Breakfast was eggs and pancakes and grits and sausage. I just wish theyd use better coffee cups- those burn hands like whoa. They sell beer and wine and s'more stuff in the front. They also have a small camp store with goodies. All you really need to bring is a towel, toiletries and water bottle. Maybe a headlamp as there's no electricity. To get there you can take various hikes. The twin arches loop is the main way- we took the longer route there (around 4.2 miles) and then the shorter one back. Did some hikes around too as they have great maps available there. Do it.

I gave her my confirmation number and she said that my name was in there backwards. I am an Honors Member and I have the app so I didn't have to put my name... she never thanked me for being a Honors Member either. She never told me anything. I had to ask how we entered the hotel to access the room. Her little co worker thought it was cute to laugh at me as well. She couldn't even count! She kept saying that we were only there for 2 days! I finally said umm we are here Thursday, Friday, Saturday night that's 3 days. Hotel was clean. The rooms are kinda small and noisy! Our heater wouldn't come on and we had maintenance in and out of our room for over 30 minutes! We didn't hardly have any toilet paper because apparently they didn't put new rolls in our room and our soap, shampoo, conditioner and lotions were really low and empty when we left. The indoor pool was really small. We didn't use the outdoor pool but it is shared with another hotel which I found ridiculous because it is fairly small itself. The breakfast was really good though! I really enjoyed that part of the stay. Although I don't think I would stay here again because of the staff and how noisy the hotel was! It was really hard sleeping in.

It's a tad small to share in my opinion. The rooms are fairly specious. Breakfast options are okay... nothing special or amazing. Pretty sub-par. It is a perfect location in Pigeon Forge! Right across the street from The Island, about 5-10 minutes from Dollywood.

My bf and I were looking for a…read morerelatively inexpensive place to stay for a couple nights in Gatlinburg and unfortunately we booked our stay here at the Work and Travel Lodge. We arrived after a long day at around 2:30 (even though check in was at 4pm) and were surprised that the reception office was closed and locked. When we called about checking in, the woman on the phone seemed very surprised and said "but check in is at 4! It's not 4." It was so strange. Anyway, then they said they would text me the check in details. I got a few long text messages that gave me the code to the door. We eventually met a woman seemingly wandering around the parking lot who worked there, otherwise we have not seen any employees. Our room reeks of mold. It's hard to stay in the room too long and it's so gross whenever we come back to the room that we open the door and are hit with a wall of mold stench. Also, I forget whether we booked a king or a queen bed, but what we got was a couple twin beds pushed together with a sheet on top played off as one bed. It's super uncomfortable. We had this moment after arriving in our room where we had to figure out whether or not we wanted to stay and or find somewhere else and try to get our money back. We ultimately stayed, but everything about this place is pretty dumpy and I just wouldn't recommend anyone stay here.

Perfect for a September evening!

We recently stayed at this resort after booking through Expedia as part of a bundle with our car…read morerental, which was a great way to save money. Check-in was smooth and easy, and since we've stayed here before, we were able to politely decline the timeshare presentation without any issues. We reserved a two-bedroom villa, but upon arrival, we were given two connecting villas instead. While this wasn't necessarily a problem, it was a bit unexpected compared to what we originally booked. Unfortunately, the cleanliness of the rooms left something to be desired. As our kids were playing, we noticed cereal on the floors and under the living room tables, which made us question how thoroughly the space had been cleaned. The bathrooms also could have been cleaner, but we made it work for our stay. We did experience an issue with one of the units having a faulty AC, but after reaching out, an engineer was sent up promptly and had it fixed within the hour, which we really appreciated. One standout positive was the communication with the front desk. It was excellent. Anytime we had a question or needed something, we could simply send a quick text and received prompt responses or service, which made a big difference. We also really enjoyed the resort amenities. The playground, mini golf, and arcade were all hits with our kids and added a lot of fun to our trip. Overall, despite the cleanliness issues, we had a good time and appreciated the convenience, amenities, and responsive staff. With a bit more attention to housekeeping, this could easily be a much stronger experience.

**Strongly reconsider before buying at Westgate Smoky Mountain Resort & Spa**…read more We understood going into this that purchasing a timeshare comes with risks. At the time of purchase, however, the benefits and promises presented made those risks feel reasonable. Unfortunately, our recent experiences have made it clear that those expectations are not being met. The condition of our room was unacceptable. We encountered dead bugs, hair in the sink, fingerprints covering the mirror, a broken fan, a broken closet door and overall filth . Even more concerning was the overwhelming smell of marijuana and cigarettes in what is advertised as a non-smoking facility. When we brought these issues forward, the response we received was not only unhelpful, but unprofessional. An employee named Brad Reed was dismissive, condescending, and openly sarcastic, at one point stating, "Well apparently we won't ever see you again." Rather than addressing the situation, we were told the resort was completely full and that the only option was to send housekeeping. In the same conversation, we were also told that purchasing an upgraded room would "ensure we wouldn't have any more problems." The implication was difficult to ignore. After declining to spend additional money, our concerns were effectively dismissed. However, when we escalated the situation to a front desk manager, we were immediately moved to another room without issue, directly contradicting what we were told about availability. This raises serious concerns about how guest issues are handled. It appears that responsiveness may depend less on the validity of the concern and more on a willingness to spend more money. This experience reflects poorly not only on the condition of the property, but on the integrity of the service model. Cleanliness, honesty, and basic professionalism should not be conditional. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this resort. Travelers should carefully consider other options in the area that prioritize transparency, accountability, and guest care.

The pillows and mattress were AMAZING. I'm very particular about sleep, and we both knocked out instantly. After long days working, coming back to that level of comfort made the trip even better. The property itself is really nice and well kept. I loved the open outdoor areas, it feels spacious, relaxed, and surrounded by nature instead of crowded like some other mountain stays. It has that calm, tucked-away vibe while still being super convenient. One of my favorite little details was the fire pit area and the s'mores kits. Such a thoughtful touch! The bads tho; we rented a suite with a sofa bed for people that needed to sleep on it. There was absolutely no bedding. There was no one working at the lodge all day because it was a holiday. I get maybe limited staff but every hotel that's open at least has someone. I messaged and was told that this would be a top priority first thing in the morning. Three days later as we are checking out, there is still no bedding. Some priority! The tub also held water so you're taking a shower in inches of water which I most certainly did not enjoy. There was also an almost constant clicking noise reminiscent of a leaky dripping faucet but we could not find what it was that made noise all day and all night. Would I stay here again despite this? Maybe. Because the room was nice with no bugs and the lodge grounds and amenities are nice.
