I found JT's Barber Shop thru the Facebook Hillsboro Community site as Jason was listed often as being the best. He is that good. Plus the price is incredible. I also love the shop logo and the music playing inside which all contribute to the good vibes at this location. It reminds me of something you'd expect to find in downtown Portland, like in the Pearl. The barber/owner is an incredible human being who is kind, welcoming and thoughtful. Positive vibes all around. As the wife of someone who gets their haircut on a regular basis, it's nice to be able to join my husband for his appointments and feel totally welcome in the barbershop. There is a comfortable waiting area with a tv, magazines, books and puzzles to occupy yourself while you wait. Then you can stroll through downtown, shop & get some local eats. On top of that my mother has owned a salon for over 40 years; so it was assumed that the talent was genetically passed to me. It was not, cutting hair is REALLY hard but I've done it for my whole family for 4 years now. Fast forward to today, a friend reminded me picture day is in 2 days and alas, my normal hair cutting day is on the weekend and has since passed. Thankfully antique barbershop responded to my plea quickly. Their website is SO easy to navigate AND book. I found that there were only 2 barbers who could do kid haircuts and decided to pull my kid out of his afterschool program to come. When my 7 year old found out he froze. He didn't want to come with me knowing it was someone else cutting his hair. I bargained with him and asked him why he didn't want Preston to cut his hair? He said because he's a stranger and he doesn't want strangers cutting his hair. I was anxious going to the shop but the parking was ace and the shop was way easy to find. My kid was still saying how he didn't want to go through with it while walking through the doors but Preston greeted us so warmly that my kid hopped up on the chair and sat like a stone. Preston made quick conversation with my kid and gained his trust. Preston moved quickly and cut my 7 year old hair in 30 minutes. It was incredible. Preston spoke to my son the entire time and it came so easily for the both of them. As we were walking out my son said "I think only three people can cut my hair now. You, grandma and him." You've won our hearts Preston. 10/10 coming back; bringing my husband next time. **notice the smile of Preston in one of the photos? Most genuine smile and kindness from this man the entire time. So glad I took my son here!…read more Back story, I started having my son go to various kid salons and barber salons for a few years now. So by now, he is able to compare from past experiences and tell me if he enjoyed getting his haircut done or not. We haven't really found a barber he was completely satisfied with, until now! We needed to cut my son's hair in short notice and I was pleased to see that this barber shop allowed walk-ins bcuz so many around only do by appointments. When we walked-in, we didn't have to wait long for his turn. I showed Joffer a picture of how my son wanted his haircut to look and Joffer mentioned not to make the sides too faded/bald, which I really appreciated bcuz I really didn't want it too short for him. My son was done in no time and he even was offered a lollipop in the end! But what really made the icing on the cake was what my son told me after his haircut - As he was smiling from ear to ear, I asked him how was it and he told me that he (Joffer) was by far his favorite barber, not because he was Filipino (like us hehe) but because he was nice to him and always blow dried his hair frequently throughout his haircut to prevent him from getting itchy! It was the small details that meant a lot to him! My husband and I were happy and satisfied with his haircut also! I'm so glad we found this salon in our neighborhood! We'll definitely be back!

I sat and waited for two hours for someone to cut my hair…read more As well as the barbers openly saying they don't like walk ins and will "avoid them like the plague" while I was sitting right there. What I got was a 5 minute haircut while everyone else was taking their time with their clients. It's not the haircut or experience I was expecting whatsoever and will now have to go somewhere else to try and salvage what hair I have left.

Price on Booksy didn't match what I was charged. I lost a 10% discount, but not a deal breaker. The price for a skin fade is fairly priced. The barbers take the time to make sure you are happy with your service and your cut.​ You get what you pay for. I try stopping by during the day, less people. There is ample parking at this location. It is located in a small business center off Hart, you can see it from the road, can't miss it. The barbers have always been friendly when I walk in. Made me feel welcomed during my first visit and my second. Always asks me what cut I am looking to get, taking the time to listen to me. My first cut was great, but my second was even better. The skill of the barbers are top quality and they are always improving their skill. I have always had to travel out of the Westside to find a quality cut, I am glad this place opened up shop where they did, don't have to travel far. Support this local business.
