I love this outdoor gym but the OCD in me has issues with not spraying down (sanitizing) equipment after use which is common for indoor gyms & it gets really dusty/dirty particularly after raining. Batting cage operator Tyler Sports, Inc. helped turn the defunct skatepark into a 10K sq. ft. artificial training facility for futsal & baseball/softball fielding; there's 2 netted pitching tunnels & 2 turf sports fields. This helped minimize non-rule abiding soccer players from practicing on the tennis & pickleball courts, & damaging the nets. Futsal is a fast-paced, scaled down version of outdoor soccer. The children's playground was part of a citywide initiative to modernize aging play structures & swing to meet current safety standards. I love the intricate "Spherical Spider Web" rope-based climbing structure! There's a smaller rock climbing wall for the younger set or kids who prefer to be closer to the ground. The only iffy equipment is the Stand-Up Seesaw; I've seen some kids accidentally falling or intentionally crawling underneath the seesaw while in motion. Yikes! That same year a splash pad was added to replace the defunct pond (which I miss dearly... I loved our local ducks!), turning the community's eyesore into a spot to cool off during spring & summer, using recirculating water system to conserve water (yeah, that means don't drink the water!). L.A. Galaxy & TUDN partnered to refurbish the rink's floor surface with Sports Court Defense tiles that are designed to be a safer, shock-absorbing surface, & better support sports: roller hockey, roller derby, pickleball (6 courts), futsal (3 courts), etc. LED lighting was added to the tennis courts for reduced operating costs, improved visibility (that would be me for my old fart eyes), & energy efficiency. I officially tried pickleball for the 1st time this year at YEE Badge Day at PowerPlay Pickleball (refer to Review #953), & I'm hooked! So I am especially excited for these new lighted courts... woot, woot!! The farmer's market has grown so much that they expanded to the small lot west of the softball field nearest to Crenshaw Blvd.; most of the food vendors are located there in addition to the ones near Dee Hardison Sports Center. I met Mel while taking a pic of the horseshoe courts; he's registered with the City to maintain the courts & was doing some upkeep when he spotted me. Mel's so thoughtful & generous with his time... I learned Ted Allen horseshoes are the best (unique finger grips for consistent throws, expertly designed for balance), about the Flip or Turn style (he prefers turn) throws, differences between kid & adult horseshoes, court clay, etc. Ted broke many records to his 10 world championships as well as holding them, including 72 consecutive ringers -- wowza! He even demoed a couple of pitches for pics & hit 2 ringers... what a surprising moment for writing this update! Charles H. Went here for a park show. Redondo Beach Ballet of performing arts. The art show was cute. Boys and girls of all ages performing. There is plenty of parking on the North West side. This park is spacious. Has picnic tables, aquatic facilities, basketball court, pickel ball and a good outdoor stage presentation facility for events. Place fits over a 1000 people at this outdoor event venue. Bring your pop up tent and your fold up chairs to feel comfortable. With that said, my #1 gripe about this park, only two unisex toilets available! Who would put a 2 person bathroom with a cipher code that can accidentally lock. These two bathrooms is stationed like a miniature hut stationed by the entertainment area. Who ever engineered these bathrooms should be reprimanded. It was a dumb idea for cipher codes to be implemented. One bathroom was accidently locked with no one in there! Terrible idea. Over a 1000 people and only as two restrooms nearby! If you had to use the use restrooms.. you have to walk in the other side of the park where the picnic area is located. It is quite a walk! Walked or wait 30 minutes. Overall, its comfortable park minus the restroom situation. read more

A locals favorite! It's been a while since I've taken a walk here and I can see that they are building more spaces for folks to play and get active. They currently have a wide walkway to get your steps in, multiple baseball fields, batting cages, tennis and pickleball courts, a street hockey field, outdoor equipment, and plenty of tables next to an outdoor cooking area. Of course, a fun playground for the kiddos. Right next to it was a pleasant surprise- a free little library! It was a little empty but I'm sure folks will add to it soon. It's frustrating to see our tax dollars being spent on building additional pickleball courts when the existing courts are already in good condition, while the children's playground continues to be neglected. Many of the playground features that made this park a great place for families are broken, gated off, or unusable. The swings are damaged, equipment is closed off, and the overall play area is no longer what it once was for the kids in our community. Instead of investing in more of something that isn't broken, why not focus on repairing and improving the amenities that families actually rely on? Our children deserve a safe, clean, and fully functional place to play. Parks should be places where families can gather and kids can enjoy themselves, not areas filled with broken equipment and restricted access. I hope the city considers prioritizing the maintenance and restoration of the playground so this park can once again be a welcoming space for everyone. read more

This is one of the the better parks, in my opinion. The fields are pretty well maintained, and there is a walking path around said fields that always has people on it. The grounds also have a play area, tennis/pickleball courts, gym, stage for events, batting cages, roller hockey rink and more. Saturdays is farmer's market. This one is huge!!! This also means the large parking lot which usually has spaces gets packed. I visit this park weekly. Overall, it's great. read more

It's a huge space and there are lots to do for everyone here. The playground can use some maintenance. There was a caution tape around one area that kids were still climbing all over. And the seesaw was extremely rickety. The tree house area is cool. This place is the largest farmers market in the South Bay area open on Saturdays and Tuesdays, a wide variety of produce meats, ready prepared foods to eat such as tamales, crepes, dim sum, etc. They also have fresh seafood and anything you practically think of even life plants to plant in your garden. This is a great park to come on your own or with your family. I used to meet my friend after work to walk. One full lap around is about 0.91 mile. At any given day or time you will see walkers, joggers, and people using the exercise apparatus. In the mornings there are Zumba classes and tai chi. I organized a play date with my LO's friends and they all had so much fun! We were there for three hours! The playground has a little kids side and a bigger kids side. There are picnic tables close by. There is also a treehouse that is super cool and it's a great way for the littles to burn off calories. There are tennis courts and I'm sure you can also play pickle ball. There is also adult softball leagues that play in the evening. Summertime there are movies in the park located at the outdoor amphitheater. I think they even had Shakespeare in the park once. And I can't forget the free Southern California Live Steamers Miniature Railroad train rides on certain Saturdays and Sundays of the month. This is a decent park in Torrance. It was impossible to find the playground, but once you find it, it all works out. It almost feels like you're driving around school parking lots, and it feels a little weird and sketchy. The play structures themselves are pretty decent and in better conditions than others I've seen in Torrance. I like the orange/blue contrast. The seesaw is currently out of order, and there is caution tape around it. I like that there is a treehouse area for kids to run around and it smells awesome because of the trees around there. Not something you normally say about playgrounds lol. Also love the splash pad area during the summer! My kiddos wanted to go over there, but we weren't prepared for water play today. There are definitely parts of the playground and park that were pretty dirty. The surrounding area wasn't super well maintained, but the playground itself in the treehouse made it worth the trip today. read more

One word--Awesome! I've lived near and around Wilson Park for 10 years. It has anything and everything you could ever want in a public park: Walking/jogging loop 0.91 miles playgrounds for kids, treehouse, water fountains to run thru, exercise machines, tennis (3) and pickleball courts (2), basketball courts (3), softball fields (4), volleyball court (1), hockey rink, batting cages, horseshoe, soccer turf, etc Tuesday and Saturday morning is the largest and best farmers market in SoCal hands down. The most popular food vendors Eggs/poultry, Ken's farm, Arnet Farms for seasonal fruits. There's plenty of prepared food vendors and even sashimi grade fish from Japan! Parking on Saturday can be chaos so recommend going on Tuesday or parking across the street or at the far end of the park and walking. In the summer there are weekly concerts of local bands or tribute bands to Taylor swift, Beatles, abba just to name a few Halloween there is a festival and outdoor movie and food trucks Winter there is fake snow and sledding Hidden gem of Torrance. It felt really fun and lively spending time at Charles H. Wilson Park in Torrance, California, where I visited with someone. The whole place has an energetic atmosphere that teenagers would enjoy a lot, and I saw many teenagers there doing different activities. Some were skateboarding, some were playing sports, and others were just relaxing or taking pictures around the park. I didn't realize how much there was to enjoy there until I walked around and saw how many things were happening at once. The big open areas, the courts, and the skate park all made it easy to have fun without feeling rushed, which is perfect for teenagers who like being active or creative. By my surprise, the park felt even more enjoyable than I expected, and I appreciated how comfortable it was to explore at my own pace. I never doubted that the experience would turn out the way I hoped it would. I only visited Charles H. Wilson Park one time in my life before making this review, but it still left a strong impression on me because of how lively and exciting it felt. It was one of the most enjoyable parks I've been to in a long time, and I would highly recommend that teenagers go there because it gives them a place to hang out, take pictures, be active, and feel creative. I lived for 24 years. I'm not physically or mentally 24 years old. In the summertime in the year 2024, I learned that I'm still physically and mentally 18 years old. I also learned that my prefrontal cortex is way more developed than average 25‑year‑olds' prefrontal cortex in the human brain. read more

Charles H. Wilson Park is a beautiful and spacious place to bring the family. There's so much to do walking trails, open grassy areas, sports courts. It's usually clean and well-maintained. The only downside is the playground equipment, I don't know who comes up with such dangerous equipment. some parts feel a bit unsafe especially for younger kids. I still love coming here, but I do keep a close eye when my kids are on the play structures. read more

Very pleasantly surprised at the number of foot traffic that this Torrance park receives at night. We were in the area and my partner found this place on Google to walk our dog before dinner. We were already driving down Crenshaw Blvd so it was easy to pull into this park from the major street. Perhaps because it was quite dark but we initially didn't think the park was that big until we started walking through it. It's really spacious with plenty of onsite parking. Makes sense why the city's farmer's market is held here! We saw some guy sitting solo in the middle of the darkened field filming himself. Public restrooms are well maintained and they had hot water and soap to wash our hands! What a rarity in public parks! read more

I don't go to Torrance often so it was very interesting to check out this area and park. I haven't looked up who Charles Wilson was yet and I didn't see a plaque about him anywhere. Update: I researched Charles Wilson and found out he was the US Congress representative for Torrance. This is a large busy park with all the bells and whistles-indoor sports center, large free outdoor gym with more machines than most of this type, golf center, large walking trail. It's a very practical, convenient park. What I didn't like is grass was really worn down, dilapidated parking lot and the whole design is boring just a big rectangle. Recommended. read more

Wilson Park has become one of our favorite family spots! With an older teen and a toddler, it's not always easy finding a place that works for both -- but this park really has something for everyone. After dropping my teen off at jiu jitsu nearby, I bring my toddler here, and we always end up staying longer than planned. We start with a walk, but without fail, my toddler makes a beeline for the playground. From there, it's endless fun -- the splash pad, climbing structures, and plenty of open space to run around. The park itself is huge and family-friendly, with a massive grassy area perfect for picnics. There are so many activities to choose from: tennis, pickleball, skating, batting cages, soccer, softball, baseball, and even a judo studio. It's one of those places where you can easily spend an entire day and still not run out of things to do. Safe, and full of energy -- only thing is maybe keep the restrooms a bit more maintained???Overall... Wilson Park is a real gem! read more

Farmers market! Its really good The dumpling lady pulls different dumplings from her pot if your not asain. When they are pulling them out look inside there's 2 different kinds ones older and the other is fresher . Then the lady leaves the food on the counter and acts like she can't see you. They changed their names 5 times. Thats because they dont pay taxes and her family came here illigally. read more

Great park! One walk around is about a 20 minute walk at a regular pace! Lots of beautiful trees and shade for breaks as well!

Good and spacious park. Playgrounds were safe and sturdy. No bugs. Green grass. Nothing much to say.

My husband I love coming to this park to walk, run, play Frisbee, and to shop at the farmers market. They have multiple wide grassy area's that are great for team sports (baseball, softball, soccer, a picnic, a party, etc.). And plenty of trees to sit under and enjoy the day with friends/family. In addition they also have a basketball court and a rec center where they hold city classes. As for parking, there are is a lot of parking spaces towards the back and there is street parking nearby. It always looks like there's no parking but we always find something. There are bathrooms but I've never used the ones outside of the rec center they have. read more

Nice tennis courts, basketball, and even badminton. Plenty of people on the weekends picnicing and play sports. Really enjoyed how nice this place is. 5/27/23 I really Love this park!! It's the park that hosts the Torrance Certified Farmers' Market--what's not to love? Today was an especially busy day even with the May Gray In sights. At about 9 am, it was densely packed with people for the park AND of course, the fmr mkt. This place is huge! There are 4 baseball diamonds along with the Recreational Center, a hockey rink...it's so gorgeous & well maintained. The outdoor restrooms in between the main ball park is a bit basic, nothing fancy, just functional. There are also semi-shaded benches farther away from the main drag, closer to the train museum where there's more parking spaces. The grass is well maintained, great for laying some picnic blankets. Plenty of birds & squirrels the children would feed & watch. It's a busy venue for lots of activities. If i lived closer I would be here everyday!! I would've checked in here each time that I visit the fmr mkt If i had realized it sooner lol. read more

Been coming her for years and I just love doing my walks here! Lots of activities here from tennis, pickle ball, basketball, softball, basketball, running, there's a roller rink, sand volleyball, horseshoe courts, and it got fitness equipment free for everyone to use! There's a designated barbecue place and reservable picnic areas. I've seen a lot of kids and adult birthdays, gender reveals, photoshoots, and proposals celebrated here Then every Tuesdays and Saturdays from 7am-1pm is the Torrance Farmers Market Day! Lots of fresh produce, fruits, veggies, artisan breads, pastries, cooked food to order...just to name a few. It's just fun to go every time! Just carry cash to be safe! Parking may be an issues during these days but...it's worth it! Then if you are planning to go to the Hollywood Bowl and want to avoid the hassle of driving, well you can catch the bus here to attend the symphony at Hollywood Bowl. Check it out the next time, The one that I enjoy lately was the Torrance Summer Nights! They had free concerts and movies here. Last one was a tribute band for Tom Petty. 3.5 stars, rounded up because this place hosts farmers' markets. I have been coming to this park for many years; if not for the market, there used to be fireworks at 4th of July. Not sure if they still do that these days as I haven't lived in the area in 20 years. Currently, there's lots of grassy areas for sports, a softball area, kids' playground, and wide walking paths. Oh, and an indoor sports center! You call tell the squirrels are being fed by humans here by how bold they are. I had a dog with me and they weren't scared to come down the trees and get close. There's lots of people walking their dogs, but I'm used to parks and trails in Oceanside that have doggie-do stations. There's none here and some people left their pet waste all over. Yuck. Parking is plentiful unless it's a market day. One of the lots (off Crenshaw) is pretty tight though! I would definitely come back if in the area, if not for the Saturday or Tuesday market (no dogs allowed at those!) to walk the looping paths. Pros: - wide paths; slightly rolling hills - large grassy areas - farmers' market!! Love. Love this beautiful park! I grew up here and let me tell you how amazing it is! They have a Farmers Market every Tuesday and Saturday morning. There is so much variety with the vendors and I love being able to support smaller businesses and get healthy options. The walking path is great for exercise! It's almost a mile loop with a big hill to give you some extra cardio. Saturdays are of course crazy busy so be prepared to look for parking! The parking lot is huge! Also the activities offered here have a great range! Overall, a beautiful and fun park! read more

Wilson Park is the common name for this venue. A lot of my friends use this park for recreation. If it's not organized sports or just going for a walk, I've heard them talk about Charles H. Wilson Park and its Farmers Market. My experience here was to just leave my car and catch The Bus (AKA the shuttle) to the Hollywood Bowl. Parking is free here! Just notice which parking lot you select - because there's a small lot and a bigger one around the corner. Look for the buses and the line of people! The only bad thing was exiting the parking lot when we returned for our cars after the concert. Maybe the traffic lights could be synchronized better (since it took many rotations to leave the area). I wouldn't mind returning to Wilson Park and seeing the duck pond or going to the Farmers Market! I'd go for a walk - but not in the summer! Haha! read more

My 1st time experiencing this sprawling park the other day. Shakespeare by the Sea, an annual summer community theatric play program, brought me out to visit. First, the positives. Ample parking and large park. Fun areas for the kids to play, including a playground. Additionally, it was great to see parents, kids and neighbors come out to cheer for a kids' sport team. There were kids competing on the field. Lastly, I thoroughly enjoyed the well kept grassy amphitheater set-up for 12th Night (Shakespeare). Great for viewing and hearing. (Only minus was a very grumpy Grandma Karen who was barking at every person, "Don't block my view. Don't block my view." She has nothing to do with the park itself, but it is a reminder to park visitors, please be kind to others. It is OUR park to be shared.) I originally intended to give 5 stars but deducted a couple due to poor lighting on the paths including the bathroom area. At 9 pm, there were portions of the park that were very dark. These are not remote areas, but areas where people were walking/running on at that hour. It's also a necessary area to travel to get to your cars. read more

The good: I came here for a strength building class with Yumi and had a great time. We did an outdoor workout by the playground and we enjoyed the grass, picnic tables (that we used for tricep dips) and the shade from the small trees. There's a giant splashpad area too that I plan to take my kid to in the future. The park is mostly flat with some hill areas. Farmer's Market takes place here Tuesdays and Saturdays and it is bustling and fun. The park is huge and there are multiple baseball fields. From the outside, the park looks unimpressive but it's quite massive and feels tranquil toward the middle. The playground has tanbark. There are bbq pit areas near the playground as well. The bad: There's a lot of traffic around here on Farmer's Market days so come early. The interesting: There were other workout classes going on when I came too. read more

This park brings me back a lot of good memories. I remember coming here with my dad every weekend. This is a very large park with many recreational things to do. There's volleyball, basketball, hockey, tennis, pickleball, a roller rink, & horseshoe court. There's even a workout station. There's a Farmer's Market held every Tuesdays & Saturdays from 7am to 1pm. They sell lots of fresh produce, fruits, pastries, & cooked food. Don't forget to bring cash! I do highly recommend checking out the Farmer's Market. A lot has changed since I came back to visit. I was amazed by the "tree house" that was built & the walkway with the nice roof. Use to come here in the summertime for their 4th of July fireworks back in the day, but now we come to enjoy long runs around the park. There is tennis court, basketball court, swings & slides for the kiddos, a jungle gym area, a recreational facilities that teaches martial arts during the weekdays, an open area for hockey. The only thing it is missing is a public pool, but other than that this is a great park for the family, its pet friendly and clean during the weekdays. read more

Solid park. 0.9 mile walk trail loop (around the park), with plenty of grass, benches, picnic tables for parties, and fun. There is a basketball court outdoor as well, softball fields, hockey rink, and courts for sports. Sometimes dance lessons and such are offered there. Lots of squirrels. They are pretty brave, too. I don't feed them, but I enjoy the nature and animals. It can get really crowded, especially on weekends. The farmer's market held here (Tuesdays & Saturdays) is a ton of fun. Whenever we take her dad to work she spies all the other dogs strolling on the walking path and begs me to take her. This park offers a great walking trail, a very long trail. A couple of laps and your set. Lots of things for your dog to smell, pee on, look at, ect. Tons of friendly squirrels saying hi. Not only that, but the park hosts an extra load of extra curricular activities. Including softball, baseball, field hockey, ect. Indoor sport complex also hosts a variety of physical fun. Wilson Park is a lovely park that has a wonderful things for kids to do and a great place to run. Parking is free and easy and it is never too crowded. This is a great park for walking or just relaxing and having a picnic. It is fun for the whole family and there is something for everyone to do. The lake has been replaced, but there is a nice fountain. They also have a wonderful Farmer's Market from time to time. We love it. read more
