The sweetest touch at chez Charles is these little kiddie cars so Rusty can sit in while getting cut. Up here around Hack town with crazy drivers, be nice for the kids to learn a relaxed car experience. No one cuts anyone off in the kiddie car room; they just get their hairs cut. How many ? All of 'em! No one who welcomes children into our adult business world can be anything but kindhearted. I'm not a fan. $28 for a mediocre kid haircut? No thank you. This place is decorated and built for kids. However, the hairdresser we had, Carol, did NOT do anything to even try to console or distract my crying child. The entire haircut was a disaster and the final look was meh. My son and baby girl needed hair cuts prior to a wedding. And I remembered driving by this location multiple times. We scheduled their cuts, and both of them got trims for $25 each. $50 seemed a little much for two trims, but we happily paid as we didn't expect to keep going back. Fast forward, we come here for all holidays and special occasions. We are now letting my daughters hair grow out, so it's mostly my son getting haircuts from here. The cost is about $25 each cut. My son patiently sits in the chair/ car / plane, and gets his haircut. Afterwards he gets his hard-earned lollipop. This location is clean, and organized. This hair salon is absolutely wonderful for children. I have taken my 4 year old son here numerous times & I always walk out beyond happy. My son has autism and is nonverbal; while they don't advertise specifically working with kiddos that require a little extra patience, they have ALWAYS gone above and beyond to make sure my child is taken care of. The children's room is super cute, with a tv available, different styles of chairs & plushies for decoration to entertain your little one. If you are looking for a location to cut your child's hair (they do also work on adults, and I'm sure they're just as great!) I cannot recommend them enough. Pros: Appealing to children with seatings such as car, tractor, etc; plenty of TVs for entertainment; place is clean. We had Rhonda which I did not find to be approachable. I had to reiterate my original request for certain a look, which she responded with sarcastic remarks. She didn't do a good job at blending. read more

Today we took our 20 month old son for a haircut and I'm SOOOOO happy we came here. Chuck the owner cut my son's hair and was so sweet and patient. His shop has SOOOO many toys which is so great to keep them occupied and interested. He also offered my son a cookie before getting started. My little guy usually cries and screams through getting a haircut but to my surprise he was so content and happy! He even looked up and smiled at chuck! Best Kids Hairdresser I've been too. Chuck was Excellent, courteous, patient and very kind. We have two boys 6 and 4 who talk and move so much. I brought my son here for a haircut and cannot begin to explain what an awesome job they did. My son has sensory processing issues and a haircut has been virtually impossible. We would just shave his hair to avoid any meltdowns. Charles Hair Salon was so professional. They took us without an appointment and boy do they know how to cut a child's s hair!! I was in amazement throughout the whole process. They have cars or planes for your child to sit in and while they are playing, they have no idea they are getting their haircut!!!!! Thank you Chuck! My son is turning 2 & this was his big boy hair cut! It looks amazing. Before the cut Chuck spoke with us about what type of cut we wanted. My husband and I couldn't agree. He wanted short & I wanted to keep it long. Chuck meet both of our needs down the middle. Halfway through the cut he let me brush my sons hair to have a feel for it and wanted my opinion. They have cute car chairs with a steering wheel and a Tv. The salon was clean and filled with toys for wandering kids. A few hours After we left the salon I began to agree with my husband and wanted a shorter cut.(I'm super indecisive) We immediately called Chuck and he was so happy we called and wanted us to come in as soon as we could. My wife and I went there to get a haircut for my 4-year old son and myself. This was one of the few salons in my local area that have facilities to cut kids' hair. We went there as a walk-in in the morning, and it wasn't that busy, so the salon was able to give us haircuts. Chuck, the third-generation owner of the salon, cut both my hair and my son's hair. He said that he has been running the salon for over 15 years, and his experience shows, as he cut my son's hair effectively. My son didn't want Chuck to use the buzzer for the back bottom of his hair, so Chuck used scissors to cut most of that off (my wife and I were fine with that). The kid's salon is separate from the adult salon, so the kids can get their cuts semi-privately. The kids section has toys, special kids' chairs for the haircut (airplane, fire engine, etc.), and two televisions running cartoons. At the time that I went, the kid and adult salons were clean and tidy. The toys were clean as far as I could tell, but I understood that the salon probably can't clean them frequently, so I had wipes handy to wash my son's hands. Chuck also cut my hair. I showed him a picture of one of my previous haircuts. It was not a complicated hairstyle, and I required no product. Chuck was able to cut to that style effectively, and I received a wash too. I talked to Chuck a bit, and he was a very nice guy running a salon that has been in his family for three generations. Price-wise, my cut and my son's cut were very competitively priced compared to other salons I visited. I will likely visit this salon again in the future. EDIT 05/18/2017: We went back to Charles Hair Specialists a second time. This time, it was just a haircut for my now 4.5 year old son. We did call the morning of to see if there were any openings, and they were able to see us early afternoon. My son decided to that he was hungry 30 minutes before the appointment (What timing! Ugh). So, I called Charles Hair Specialists up, asking to reschedule the appointment to a later time that day. They said that the appointment could be pushed back an hour to give my kid time to eat. And, they were correct; it did take almost the hour to wrap up eating and get there. We went in and waited about 10 minutes while Chuck, the owner, was finishing up another child haircut. Charles Hair Specialists had toys around and had the Disney channel on a TV, so those 10 minutes went fast. The haircut occurred without incident. My rating is unchanged. :) read more

We have been going there for about a year now & I won't ever take my boys anywhere else. They have patience & understanding like no other. I took my boys here for their first hair cut and it was such a disappointment! The salon area for the kids was so filthy, the toys and chairs don't look they have been cleaned in months... plus hair everywhere! The experience was awful and I was so looking forward to a memorable one! The owner himself cut their hair did an awful job; he shaved the back of their neck line higher than it should have been, they had hair patches below their neck and strands of long hair! He made no effort to keep the kids calm or entertain them; he rushed through the cuts and my poor kids basically walked out with a butcher job for the their first cut! read more

I called to make an appointment. Whoever answered seemed extremely friendly. I specifically said I wanted a fade on my son's hair. They asked if I wanted them to use clippers and I said yes. When I arrived everybody was very friendly and accommodating. The lady cutting my son's hair seemed a little nervous. She kind of rushed using the clippers. When the lady finished my son's hair it looked terrible. There was no blending done whatsoever with the clippers. There were some parts that were longer than the other. If you do not have experience with clippers you should not offer to cut a client's hair. I wasted money. I should have complained, but I honestly didn't think it was worth it. They would not have been able to fix it. I had to go to another salon so that they could fix it. read more
