Melinda couldn't be bothered to come up with insurance quotes for home, auto, or umbrella policies, despite me giving her a week to get back to me after a long phone call gathering information. When I called back after a week, staff said she was busy and would get right back to me. Didn't happen. I see from other poor reviews that I'm not the first in this predicament. I don't mind if a business says "We're too [busy/lazy/incompetent] to get back you anytime soon (if ever). At least this would be honest. Moving to the area, I had to update my auto insurance. While at it I needed to add renters' insurance too. My carrier put me over to Secord as my handler and so far, so good. Each time I've gotten on the phone with them to handle things, it's always been pleasant. I won't name drop anyone, but I appreciate being helped in a friendly way when dealing with something that I'm not excited to have to do. When I kept getting notices of proof of insurance being required, I was helped out. I don't have a printer so that I could send these documents but thanks to my agent I could electronically sign, and they sent it directly to Progressive, who kept bugging me for the proof of coverage. So, this is a good start. I hardly ever spoke to my handlers back in NJ, and may not here either, but so far, I'm glad that they're pleasant to deal with. read more

We first reached out to Secord in 2022 for auto and renters insurance. Miranda responded quickly with a quote and we signed on. Great experience. In our 2023 renewal, our insurance shot up quite a bit (30%+) and we asked the Secord team to help us shop around. They gave us some other options but couldn't find us anything cheaper. We accepted that the industry as a whole just got more expensive, and it cost more to underwrite our policy. Didn't love the price increase, but not Secord's fault, and again we appreciated Secord's help here. Now, 2024, another renewal and another 30% bump in the premium. We reached out a month before our policy was set to renew and asked for help in exploring other options. We waited and waited, no response. I tried reaching out by phone but didn't get an answer (maybe it closed early that day, I don't know). I grew tired and impatient since we were nearing the policy expiration, I went ahead and shopped for a new quote on my own. I DO NOT recommend this agency in 2024. read more

Once again, Miranda came through and resolved an issue with a quick and satisfactory response. The insurance company sent me a snail mail a week ago saying my policy was cancelled due to an aerial photo showing the roof in poor condition. The roof is 6 years old and in great condition. Let's start with the good: Miranda responds promptly and found great rates for insurance. The bad: a lot of details were missed and had to be corrected. - I worked with Miranda to get quotes for and purchase insurance policies that would cover both my partner and I. My partner never contacted Miranda or Secord, but somehow is listed as the only named insured for all of our policies. I was not listed as a named insured on any policy. - 2 of the 3 policies listed an incorrect address. - I asked for the Intellidrive discount to be removed and it was never mentioned again. I purchased the policy and then received instructions to enroll in Intellidrive. Miranda was able to remove the Intellidrive discount after the policy was issued, but the price went up (expected) so the quote was inaccurate. I would use Secord's services again because of the savings, but it was a painful experience. read more

The policy was affordable and with a little extra coverage, I was able to splurge on some additional coverage while coming under the the quote from the company the apartment building "suggested." They need to work on their email relay and consistency of their members. I contacted them and got a response back within a day. I replied but then it was 4 days of no response. We needed auto insurance before we picked up a new-to-us car but couldn't get a response from them from Tuesday on into the weekend. I know they're busy so I thought they would get back to us soon, but ultimately we couldn't proceed so we lost our bid to the car. This isn't my first unsatisfying run in with Secord service. My first one was with an ex employee who I was told later couldn't read or write properly so our personal information jotted down was incorrect. I wanted to get some extremely general information about insuring a home in a floodplain. I am currently house-hunting and some of them have been in floodplains, so I wanted to understand costs.
