It has been so helpful to work with Kevin these past couple of months! When my husband and…read more I were initially searching for some support with our finances, we were looking for someone who could meet us at our level and explain financial topics in ways we could understand ( HSAs, Roth IRAs, Traditional IRAs, HYSAs, etc.) We were looking for someone who help us understand our current financial picture and whether we were saving enough to be able to retire at our desired age, be able to enjoy our current hobbies of traveling, and pay for medical expenses we will have. As a woman who got married later and came to my marriage with assets, I wanted to make sure I was making smart financial decisions with regards to my investments, savings, and spending habits as I know I will take home less money than my husband. We found that in Kevin and are so grateful for his knowledge and guidance. Kevin has helped me understand my financial portfolio and adjust my investment choices to match my financial goals. He has a unique approach to providing guidance with regards to finances which involves front loading the work together with weekly meetings the first month followed by check-ins and continued financial information through articles on various financial topics. We highly recommend working with Kevin if you are looking for solid guidance around your finances.

I knew that I was not confident in how to…read morehandle money and the stressors of bills and student loans after graduating and starting my first full time job. I also didn't know if I was being too hasty in pursuing a financial advisor when I was just starting out; was the investment in a financial planner worth it considering I had little assets, a moderate paycheck, and student loan debt? Since I was rather anxious in not wanting to make mistakes that could impact the rest of my financial life, I decided to look into Kevin. His website drew me in with his focus on millennials and the unique financial challenges we face. He seemed real and truthful which is what I was looking for above all else. Someone to give me real, concrete advice, and not take advantage of me considering my limited understanding in "adult" finances. After my first free consultation I knew I was in good hands and that his website accurately reflected his values. Although it was a financial investment to get a financial planner, Kevin has helped me set up a future that is beyond worth the money I spent/spend. We continue to have check-ins as my financial situation changes and he never holds judgement when I need a concept explained or broken down considering money has a lot of jargon. I now feel confident in my plans for paying off my student debt, investing in my future, and living a normal life all at the same time. I recommend him to all my friends and coworkers when conversations turn to finances as we all navigate this often challenging money world.

Second strike for PNC Bank at Woodmore Town Center. First strike, about six months ago, one of the…read moremanagers gave me incorrect information about my bank that seriously affected my bank account. I let that go. Yesterday i tried to deposit a fourth over the counter check which needed more clarification (similar amount different check). The teller suggested that i wait until today to deposit so we could differentiate the check. No problem for me. I went into PNC today to deposit the check...immediately a new teller questioned where i got the check. (They didn't do that yesterday) And then the teller had to call the person that issued the check to make sure the had given me the check. I have been at PNC for over five years and had enough in the account to cover the soon to be deposited check. (12/31) It took at least 20 min...why? I dont suggest banking at PNC unless you are a large business. They may cater to folk with larger incomes and bank accounts. Use a credit union!!!

This is review is specific to how PNC handles mortgages. My mortgage was initially through another…read morecompany but was sold to PNC which seems like standard practice the mortgage industry. I have no complaints about the initial mortgage company, but I do have complaints on how PNC is exploiting my unfortunate life event. Legally, I need to remove another person from the existing mortgage and I qualify for a loan assumption. There were no issues on the loan assumption pre-approval given my income and no other debts and proceeded with the formal approval and loan assumption. That was 6 months ago and it there isn't an end in sight. Throughout the past 6 months, PNC has asked for additional documentation, which I supplied, and went back on their word on the loan assumption requirements. Each iteration of additional documentation would take weeks for PNC to review and respond. What prompted this review is that PNC is pulling multiple hard credit inquiries which is impacting my credit score and ability to secure a mortgage through other options. They already have all the possible financial documentation I have and are no longer asking for consent prior to hard credit inquiries. It seems PNC does not want me to assume the loan because they could make more money off me if I'm forced to refinance. The additional hard inquiries would then be justification for an increased interest rate when I have to shift from an assumption to a refinance.

I would never open an account with Ameriprise ever again. Here are the details if you care to read: I have an account with Ameriprise that I opened a couple years ago. It's technically a brokerage account, and I've just had about $250 sitting around as cash. In order to consolidate accounts, I decided to go about closing the account. I emailed the office in DC where I opened the account, they directed me to the home office. The cliff notes: the home office told me it's a $100 fee to close the account I asked them to explain after a brief hold the rep came back, literally stammered for a full 30 seconds and said well ma'am, it's just that we don't want people to leave called back and talked with a supervisor he gave me a bullshit story and refused to waive the fee. He said I signed an agreement that outlined the fees when I first signed up I'm still in the process of trying to close this account without having to pay an egregious penalty. I'm sure I could have signed a document outlining this procedure, though it sure wasn't brought to my attention.

A review of PNC in general (with a couple references to this location): The good: 1. No ATM fees. If you use another bank's ATM, PNC will reimburse you. Going overseas? Ditto. Can't say the same of Bank of America, that's for sure. 2. Branches are open on the weekends, including this one in Adams Morgan. And when I mean open, I mean all day Saturday and a reasonable amount of time on Sunday. 3. I've never had to wait more than a minute or two in line at this branch plus a couple others I have gone to in Columbia Heights and Penn Quarter. The Adams Morgan branch is generally pretty quiet and efficient. It's so quiet that I wonder why PNC hasn't closed it down yet (and keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn't). 4. Friendly customer service. I've had to call PNC a couple times and they've been very polite and been able to effectively help me. 5. Free money transfers to non-PNC accounts. So why not 5 stars? PNC isn't national. Obviously this is not a problem while traveling (due to no ATM fees), but if I were to move back to CA (or some other western state), I'd most likely have to switch banks. Also their website isn't ideal. Sometimes it loads rather slowly. Overall I'm quite happy with PNC and have no complaints at all about this PNC location.

Their instant issue debit card machine wasn't working, but I was going to be traveling, so they said that they would rush a card to me via regular mail. Said they would waive the $25 fee, since it was their machine that was broken. However, there was no manager there to waive the fee, so I was told that I could pay it and just stop by to be reimbursed when I got back into town. I called the day I returned, and left my name and number when they said no one was available. Called again today, was told that they couldn't refund the fee, and that I should call customer service. It's not the $25 that bothered me, but refusing to address the issue or call me back was annoying. PNC Customer Service was able to resolve the issue in about five minutes. Cheers to them! Stay away from this branch though, unless you appreciate lies and slow service. Columbia Heights branch is much better.
