The facility itself is incredibly clean, and the dogs and cats are clearly loved and exceptionally well cared for. The pups have great play areas to romp and burn off energy, and there is an excellent animal behaviorist who helps socialize the dogs and make them more adoptable. Having volunteered at another shelter in the past where appreciation was rarely expressed, the difference here is remarkable. This organization genuinely values both its animals and its volunteers. A few days later, we received a special sympathy card in the mail from Lance's. I was very impressed that they had taken time out of their busy schedule to personally contact us after our dog died, and what really made a big impression on my heart was the kindness we received from each member of their staff. Each person personally sent a sympathetic message along with their signature on that sweet sympathy card. The next visit I'm not sure who I saw. They took her back to get a fecal. I told them that I could have brought a stool sample. I could hear her screaming. Apparently, they stuck some kind of bubble wand up there trying to get something. I didn't like that but I didn't say anything. What's really been on my mind is my last yearly visit. Normally I like mornings, but I agreed to a 2 o'clock appointment. I got there at 1:30 and the front desk said we're early. No hello, how are you, hello Dolly. Just 'we're early'. I misjudged how long it would take me to get there from Cumming. I always get to appointments a little early, like 15 or so. I figured I'd get right in after lunch and get out quick. Dr. Bassett did come out looking for somebody while I was in the front so I saw him there. So at 1:50 a woman walked in with her dog and was taken right back. I was a little frustrated, but thought maybe she's seeing someone else. At 2:10 I was finally put in a room. The tech came in shortly after said so we're here for a yearly exam. I'm sorry I just don't get it. I know why I am there. I said I had been waiting for a while. She said well the doctor is doing return phone calls. She was not nice about it either. Why have a 2 o'clock appointment then? If you're calling people with sick dogs, or some kind of post treatment question that could take some time. To make matters even worse I could hear them back there talking about me and then came in at 2:20. He said something about I was told you were frustrated. I said yeah, I was. I'm sorry, but it's customer service 101. I'm there in the office waiting. Make your phone calls after. The icing on the cake was he was giving her all of her shots in her hip, and she has very skinny little bony hips and on the third one she yelped. I feel like dogs I've had in the past and even with this dog, their shots were given in the scruff of the neck. I don't think I'm imagining that. When she screamed, they looked at each other like what's going on here. He said I should go get some kind of joint medicine to give to her for life! It's expensive. Chondroitin? She's not in any joint pain. She doesn't limp. She doesn't have any joint problems. I went in, not too long after that to get her Simperica trio and the tech that was in the room that day was coming in from I don't know where lunch or maybe to start her day and she gave me a dirty look in the parking lot. I hadn't done anything wrong. I show up on time, well early actually, and I ask why I'm having to wait so long when I had seen the doctor there and I'm a problem? It's also very frustrating when they googoo gaga on other dogs and don't even acknowledge my dogs existence. My dog is so sweet. She loves girls and there are a lot of them up there. I just don't know if I will continue going there. It's really hard to find somebody too, so it's upsetting

She listened to me and then asked nicely if I would fill out a form with my information. Once completed, she was super helpful in explaining that all records could be transferred from the previous vet without any trouble. The office staff is very friendly and on top of their game booking timely appointments, filling medication refills, and consulting one of the Vets on patient questions and getting back with their customers quickly. Their efficiency reduces wait times for nervous pets. The Vets and their assistants are very personable and wonderful with their furry patients. They take time to ask and answer questions about the animal's health, care, and behavior. Treatment is as noninvasive as possible. I have been through the hardest of all times at this facility when it came time to let our 16yr old American Eskimo Dog, Charlie go. The staff made a heartbreaking scenario much less painful, both for me and for Charlie by putting us in a quiet back room. They encouraged me to sit on the floor with Charlie on my lap for a time, so I could say goodbye. When I was ready, they came in and administered the drug to Charlie right there on the floor with us, which kept Charlie calm. The whole experience could not have been any better. Charlie's remains were treated with respect and I received his ashes in a lovely wooden box accompanied by a small clipping of his fur and his paw prints. This was hard to share, but its important for folks to know how the hospital staff at Cornerstone treats you and your precious pet at the most difficult time in their lives.

Some of the most fantastic food can be eaten in restaurants that are rundown and look mighty questionable on the outside. You know the ones. The ones that make you go ummmm no BUT your friend told you just how incredible the food really was! So this vet hospital doesn't have a fancy entrance, nor does the inside have pretty upgrades that will automatically feel all warm and fuzzy inside. What this place may lack in pretty upgrades it makes up for in quality staff and incredible above and beyond love and care for animals. It is well equipped with the medical equipment needed to care for your pet. My Annabel Lee (rescue dog with anxiety issues) walks into that building with only a tad of nervous feeling and if you had any idea how huge that was ... you'd ignore all possible cosmetic disappointments because Cornelia Veterinary Hospital .. total gem.
