The workers even asked if taking off half of his coat was too much and I said at most take off half. I go to pick up my dog and his entire body was shaved extremely short. Not only shaved but patchy in many areas. Very very disappointed as they did the ONE thing I asked not to do. The price was definitely not worth the cut (especially since it wasn't what I asked for) and I would not recommend and will not be returning.

Today my husband stopped by Dawsonville Veterinary Hospital to get flea & tick tabs for our 6 dogs…read more Maggie who works the front desk refused to sell him these tabs since four of the dogs were past due on their rabies shot as of November 2019. These are totally "inside" dogs. The fact that they were "overdue" by 5-6 month time period that included Christmas & the Covid Virus crap should have provided some leniency, along with the number of years our dogs have being treated by them for "shots & all health checks". Dawsonville Veterinary Hospital has taken care of our animals for at least six or seven years. Our dogs have maintained their shots over those years mainly rabies. I have always taken my rescue dogs to this clinic. At one time I had 13 dogs to place in homes which had to have health checks etc. Needless to say a lot of money has been spent over the years supporting DVH and their "hometown" services. Goes to show you how much they really appreciate their clients and those people who try hard to take care of their pets even in these trying times. Guess I will look for better service.

Comforting in our time of despair…read more We all get intertwined with our pets to the point of them not being pets anymore. There is a loyalty and love that only an animal can fulfill. That being said, when our cat of 17 years had a major health issue, we knew it was time to end her suffering. We had only recently moved into this area, so we were referred by a family member not long ago. Thank goodness for the referral because otherwise we would've just picked something from Google or Yelp. Well, the Foothills location for Wayside isn't on Yelp for some reason, so here we are. The major health issue happened over the weekend, and the closest 24 hour emergency vet's office is about 30 miles away. We were able to comfort our cat enough to where we could wait until Monday morning. It was rough, but we made it in to the office first thing and Doctor Neff and Josh were very comforting given the circumstances. They both were very forward and honest about what would happen, and gave us the option to stay or wait outside. We chose to stay and be near our cat, which is rough but honest and blunt. To say that the folks in this office were comforting is an understatement. Anyone that has been through losing a loved pet understands that you don't want hoops or hurdles at this point. You just want there to be no more suffering or pain. Both Doctor Neff and Josh were exceedingly helpful and quick. They cannot be thanked enough. We will be back with our other pets under hopefully much better circumstances in the future.

He had very impressive instinctual habits right from the beginning. Cooper is currently away at training and our dog trainer has nothing but great things to say about him -- from looks, personality, drive, and overall high level of breeding. As a breeder, Lucinda is passionate about her litters and is very attentive to her pups' health, development, and early socialization. Lucinda was very attentive to my needs and what I was looking for in my hunting retriever. My black lab has a lot of drive, is very biddable, and might be the most intelligent lab I have owned. As for the clown that gave Ducktown Retrievers a bad review, maybe he doesn't understand what "nonrefundable deposit" means... Any breeder worth their salt will have a puppy contract to protect their clients and business so I would suggest reading it next time, Kevin. As for the appearance of Ducktown Retrievers' dogs, take a look at the pictures and tell me that's not a good looking dog... If I could give Lucinda and DTR 10 stars, I would! I will definitely look to Lucinda in the future for another waterfowling dog.

We had to make the heartbreaking decision to say goodbye to two of our sweet fur babies, Remi and Marleigh. Remi and Marleigh weren't "just dogs." They were part of our family. They were woven into our everyday lives, our memories, our routines, and our hearts. They gave us years of unconditional love, loyalty, laughter, and companionship -- and having to let them go was absolutely heartbreaking. During both of those heartbreaking moments, the staff at Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital showed us such incredible kindness, patience, compassion, and respect, and our babies with such gentleness, dignity, and love. They never rushed us. They gave us time to cry, to love on them, to say everything we needed to say, and to hold them close one last time. When your heart is breaking, you never forget how someone treats you and those little acts of compassion mean more than people realize. They didn't just take care of Remi and Marleigh -- they took care of us, too. There is something incredibly special about people who can walk into a room on one of the worst days of your life and somehow make you feel cared for, understood, and a little less alone. To everyone at Clarkesville Veterinary Hospital, thank you for loving our babies right alongside us until the very end. Thank you for making two incredibly painful goodbyes just a little more peaceful. And thank you for showing our family so much grace and compassion while our hearts were breaking. Sadly he passed away. The doctor and staff should have offered more options vs just sending him home with basic treatment. Our dog had received all of his vaccines and treatment here. We will never take any of our animals to this clinic.
